flex04: Before the English words like bro, Sis, aunt and uncle came, the words used then was Bere mi for older brother or elderly ones not enough to be called baba ( father). The general one for both ladies and guys is 'egbon mi'. 2 Likes |
BROOM IS BROOM Most people think this is a myth but it is so true, Hajia Ramotu even confirmed this to me. In Yorubaland, It doesn't matter if it is a toilet broom or broom used in sweeping the bedroom. As long as it is a broom, it can be used to stir the Ewedu soup. [/quo I have never seen your comment on nairaland that makes sense. I don't think you normal. And you always be the first to comment in every section. You get work at all? 1 Like |

Some of those things (culture) are golden rules that facilitate moral, unity and peaceful coexistence. Home training is given an utmost importance in Yoruba land. 4 Likes |

Yoruba and respect is like rice & white I remember when I first came to abuja I met a yoruba guy that we both came to abuja almost the same time we later became friend but anytime this guy wants to greet any elderly person be any tribe he always prostrate I used to remind him that not everybody fancy prostration. I used to tell him that it's only yoruba that he can prostrate for that will understand him more. That guy ehn But that's how Yorubas raise their children and you can't take that away from them Proudly yoruba 5 Likes |

Opinionated: Greeting is a must It is an 'abomination' if you walk past a Yoruba man or woman without greeting. It is even worse when you know them and you still do not greet. They will perceive you as uncultured, disrespectful and lacking home training. @bolded. Is a effing big lie. Yoruba's only respect their own. Severally Yoruba kids will walk past you n greet d next Yoruba person and move on. When they need your help that's when they show their lizard like talent of prostrating more than standing. 4 Likes 1 Share |
