Good morning, congratulations recent test takers on your awesome scores. I was wondering if any one bought an actual Manhattan book and has access to the 6 practice tests? Would you mind sharing with me? |

tizentos: Chief, Great GPA and lovely GRE scores. You already have two ambitious schools in your list; UT Austin and UPenn. With your profile, you may get into UT Austin and UPenn, but funding is another thing. Except you are going for PhD, the hustle for full-funding for MSc real die! And getting into PhD programs with Nigerian BSc in ambitious schools is equally very difficult except you can prove that there is an Einstein in you. Bros, get a chair, sit down and thoroughly research plenty schools (mostly safe schools and they are really not safe anymore) whose programs and faculties closely match your academic interests. Mail as much advisors as possible from those schools. They can say if there is any faculty that is willing to take you on, and most times they are open to tell you if they have funding or not. Although you won't usually mention to professors in your introductory mail that you need funding, they can see through you that funding is one of the major reasons you are contacting them, and before you ask, many will usually tell you if they have money or not. I heard these schools are generous but check if they offer your program; 1. Univ of Florida 2. Univ of Colorado, Boulder 3. Texas Tech 4. Florida State (Florida A & M) 5. Univ of Tennessee, KN 6. Uni of Central Florida 7. Clarkson Uni 8. Colorado School of Mines 9. Wayne State Uni 10. Michigan Tech 11. NJ Inst of Tech 12. Mississippi State 4 Likes 2 Shares |

For all those finding it difficult to get the GRE material, you can get it for free from www.study-preps.com. More new materials are being added. Also if you can afford at least low tuition try checking valparaiso university, the school is very understanding and you can register for your first semester without paying any tuition. 1 Like |

Re: How To Achieve High Scores On The GRE by DreManuel(m): 3:39pm On Aug 23, 2017 |
EZEIGBO1OFIMO: I love this! It brings up a cool debate and an avenue for us to learn and un-learn. Yet, the quoted is my opinion. So you don't have to believe it. Keyword is ambitious schools. But it also depends on your definition of ambitious school. Anyway, if you have any counter-evidence, please share, I would like to learn from it. P.S.. I've not asked anybody not to apply to ambitious and extremely competitive schools for PhD with a Nigerian B.Sc. Nigerians have done that and will still do it. I know someone rounding off PhD at MIT and another classmate in UT Austin . That also means I know their records. In the days of PRESSID with guaranteed funding, those schools would have been easier to go, too. We don't know what PTDF is doing now. The hustle is more real now. We all need a reality check. 1 Like |

DreManuel: peace be unto you brother, Has PTDF paid present beneficiaries up to date?, or is it NDDC that always owes? |
Re: How To Achieve High Scores On The GRE by DreManuel(m): 3:57pm On Aug 23, 2017 |
EZEIGBO1OFIMO: You too man. Both always owe. PTDF has paid almost all OSS till date except those that deferred. But many LSS are owed, even from 2014/2015 set. NDDC is another case. I don't know much about it since i'm not Niger Deltan but I hear they owe on a steady basis. 1 Like |

Re: How To Achieve High Scores On The GRE by Scholastica16: 4:20pm On Aug 23, 2017 |
tizentos: Consider Cleveland State Uni as one of the possible safe schools. I got this information from someone on-ground. They have funding for EE guys like you. Please, take UPenn off that list so as not to waste your application fee. You should look at NCSU. People got admitted and funded with same GRE but less GPA than you so you can give it a try. Someone else recommended Colorado State and I agree. Look at Clemson as well and UT Dallas. 2 Likes |

Congrats to all those that wrote the GRE! Great scores I must say! Good luck to prospective takers. Those with GPAs 3.7+/4 with GRE 320+ can look at UVA. Downside is, they only admit about 10% of international students per year but there is good funding if admitted. Good luck Fall 2018 applicants! 7 Likes |

Question: Does having a journal paper published in an internationally recognized journal a great boost to your graduate application and funding opportunity? (for Msc prospectives...) |

Guys with good gre scores, i think you should all try doing your masters first in Saudi Arabia especially the engineering students . I heard they offer full msc scholarships especially king Fahd University. I know of a senior who did his masters in king Fahd university and he's now doing his PhD in university of Guelph Canada. It seems the visa processing to Saudi Arabia is also easy. Then after your msc, u can cross to the USA. It will be very easy from there. Will be doing my gre next year by God grace. Am scared though but i will try it. All the best guys. We will all succeed |

atiteb4: You are quite right. It is a good platform for crossing over to the west. The visa processing is easy but these days, it can take a lot of time for your visa to be sent to you even after being admitted (months-years). This may derail your plans. For those planning to apply to Saudi or related Middle East countries, I would advise you to either make it your alternative option (because you may not be issued visa early) or apply very early, like in your final year or immediately you finish your BSc (there are usually two application cycles in a year). This is so that before you finish NYSC, everything will be ready. For those with competitive GRE scores, you can try KAUST. It is a very nice (relatively) new school with excellent funding and top research facilities. But it is super hard for Africans to get in. Apply anyway, it's free and you might be the exception. On a side note, the admissions committee really doesn't care whether you are Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Agnostic or whatever....I think |

Hi guys, just came across this. I intend taking the test in December. I must confess I'm scared but I believe nothing is impossible. Anyone with relevant prep materials should help send to haameenatadams@gmail.com. I don't mind a study partner. Advice to boost my morale will be appreciated. Thanks |

Time2Smile:Dr. Time, please I have a related question. My supervisor published my work without my consent and got my name wrongly spelt in the paper. We have contacted the EIC of the journal, he claims nothing can be done. Even worse is the journal (Journal of Biomedicine) doesn't use initials, it uses authors' full names. I intend making reference to this paper; I put so much in it. What do you think can be done? How would you advise I go about citing it in my SOP and other concomitant documents? |
