I am in total support of feminists. And every guy should be in support of feminism. The family brings 2 pages of marriage materials, she will be responsible for the content of one page while the man takes care of the others. On a date, as I chop dey pay; she go chop dey pay her own. She gets her dildos, the man uses his hands...until both parties agree to engage in horizontal mumbo jumbo. Whoever blinks first, loses. / 4 Likes |

I think we should elevate gender equality beyond what goes on in the family. If two people have chosen a way to run their marriage and it works for them, I don't see why it should be anyone else's business. The questions I think we should be asking is how many women hold political appointments, what's the probability of voters choosing female aspirants, how many top Nigerian companies have female CEOs, what's the male to female ratio on company boards, are inheritance customs fair to women, can women aspire to religious, customary and spiritual leadership, are there double standards in the way society treats women versus men, do men and women generally have equal standing before society etc... 2 Likes |

Yes it relevant. But there should be a balance between feminism, culture and custom. Women should be empowered but not at the expense of their primary duties as wife and mothers. |

talk2hb1: These roles and responsibilities you talk about, who penned them down? Where is it written that the girl child has a sterotypical role she must fit into. Or even the boy child? That it's not okay to want something outside the norm for herself because there's a role she must strive to fit into? Does the boy child have more brain cells than the girl child? Did evolution made his IQ significantly higher than hers? You have sisters you say, did your parents push them to be what they wanted to be, earn money legitimately, become independent the way they pushed you to? Or did they tell them to depend on men even before they have a ring on their fingers? Or find husbands to take care of them? 1 Like |

humilitypays: Psychological studies have shown that women marry up (economic and age wise). So this is not surprising. With or without feminism, women will always marry up. No female willingly marries a man she is richer than (the stats are low), neither will a man marry a woman who earns more than him (stats are also low). Generally, individuals will want to favour themselves even at the detriment of others, this is natural. However, feminism has done quite well for Nigerian women, by giving them rights (also knowing the right), empowering women, improving education standards (we cannot because of prehistoric cultures allow 50% of the population not to be educated properly) etc. The coloured post: Any study to prove your claim that women's economic empowerment has not contributed to the Nigerian economy? 1 Like |

XKZ: Exactly. That should be our main focus when it comes to feminism. The average African man is very misogynistic. . . . .the question today should be how do we change their 12th century views and how do we get our future/current mothers to push independence in their daughters just as much as they do with their sons. Make their daughters hungry for success in all fields and learn how not to take the backseat. That is the cause we should be championing. 1 Like |

I am for feminism because the girl would work and make her own money and take care of herself with it.... I too will work make mine and take care of myself with it.... if I want to hv children I could think of adoption or hv a baby with her but before the baby we would go to court to swear joint custody agreement/ affidavit in case of any eventuality. |

OrdercityWeb: The original aim itself is what every sane person should support. Even if some set of people are deviating from the set aim, sane people should still stick to supporting the original aim. But our Nigerian men wanna throw away the baby with the bath water. What are they scared of? They claim the misguided feminist wanna eat their cake and have it always mentioning materialism. Even our men want to eat their cake and have it. You can't want your wife to work and earn like you, then slave at the home front without your supporting, all in the name of submission. It won't work. I'm very Pro-family and anyone that knows me outside here knows that. The original aim of feminism is necessary, while maintaining reasonable family and societal values. 3 Likes |

XKZ: ....and this is the problem I have with today's feminism. People should be appointed to positions not because of the gender but what they contribute and their worth. It is mediocrity to force companies to employ females because of gender parity even when they are not as qualified as the other gender or the pool is small to pick from. Ditto with political positions, a woman who wants to run for an office should do so, and not expect voters' approval because "I'm a woman". Earn the voters' support and not affirmative action. During the Google and James Damore debacle, it was discovered that there are less women in tech and as such, tech firms should employ more females. But this wrong as it breeds mediocrity, whereby firms have to keep slots for females because of gender parity and not meritocracy. There are few females opting for Computer Science degrees juxtaposed to the male category (culture contributes to an extent), how then can companies employ enough coders, programmers (not Gender Studies' graduates) to be same as with males? By the way, we've many females preachers, inheritance is culture specific and is changing (The Supreme Court did something on that esp for the Igbos circa '03) 5 Likes 1 Share |

Feminists don't know what they want. Even between them they disagree on what it means. Mk we leave matter. Imagine a radio presenter saying a man complemented her that she drives like a man and she felt insulted. Even when she knew his intention was that she drives without fear. At the end of the day it's all about Single Successful ladies thinking they can do without men and in fact can do better with male organs. I wonder if they also think we should just abolish gender all together and call everyone Man. I suspect they would prefer we call everyone Woman. Ladies, E dey una body. I don vent finish. 1 Like |

pocohantas:Good! You're balanced. You're not one of those ladies who just joined it as a bandwagon because its a trend now. These ones no nada about it, they are the ones misinterpreting it. Most of these folks practice misandry and think its feminism. I call them "Facebook femisnists ". .. Real femisnists don't necessarily make noise, you see feminism in their words and actions.
