Good morning Nairalanders. Please I need an advice on how to cure my asthma. I am about 30 years but I grew up in the northern Nigeria. I have asthma but it is not chronic. I can jug/run for less than 15 minutes to cover 3km. I can do many things. I can do many things even in smokes, dusts, exercise without problem. My main problem is excessive cold. Sometimes, if I take cold drink. I will receive the attack. In a nutshell, I am allergic to excess cool weather or cold drinks. I don't want to be addicted to asthma drugs. I prefer once in a while. especially once I notice the sign. I spent more than 2 months without taking drugs. Please I really need medical help and any positive contribution. Thank you in anticipation.

As for the cold, make sure you get influenza and pneumonia immunizations yearly. It helps a great deal.


Since you now know cold drinks triggers an attack, then STOP taking it.

Always stay warm, wear warm clothes and stay off cold drinks, the weather is cool enough now.

The only time cold water and drinks won't affect you is in the dry season.

Always air out your room in the day time by opening the windows then close ur windows at night and pls, don't use fan or AC.

Despite closing our windows at night, we still cover our selves and still get cold.

You already know ur trigger, just stay off it.

You're a funny person, you don't want to take asthma meds but you want to be indulging in guilty pleasures that will trigger asthma.

Just go to a General Hospital near you and inquire about Pneumococcal and Flu vaccines. Or better still, ask a doctor first.

I'll consider the flu shots tho, my nose is never dried.
