Monday Odiaka was initially the most shinning star from the fantastic 1985 U20 team that finished 3rd at the WYC. In fact Monday Odiaka won the golden boot in that tournament. From the crop only Andrew Uweh and Ndubuisi Okosieme made the Maroc 88 AFCON squad. But Siasia later managed to transit into the Super Eagles. In fact his first AFCON was Senegal '92 Daniel Amokachi was exempted due to injury I think. Amokachi first featured at Algiers 90.

Samuel Okwaraji was the SS to Yekini in that '88 AFCON. Amokachi took over from Okwaraji.

Amokachi was Nigeria's first choice Supporting striker to Yekini.

First of all, they could win us...on both legs? No....on one? Yes. Could we win them? Yes, so I don't know why you people are being pessimistic. Haba! Some others think some players are living in past glory (I won't address the uncle that mentioned Mikel), while the likes of Musa and M.Simon and indeed Akpeyi, may not be names many of us want to see on the list, we must realise that the game at hand determines the invitees.


You cannot call up four to five new players for a crunch match like this. It is not possible. You call up the guys who have bonded over the span of at least four matches. Musa and Simon have solid experience with this team, so they will trump other fringe players for this game, it's a given. It is foolhardy to think that the likes of Onyekuru will be called up to play Cameroon when they haved not built any on field chemistry with anybody else.


Like someone said, these players will be phased out with time, I do not expect to see either of these guys in our NT come next year, however, they are a necessary evil for now. So, just suck it up and hope for the best.....

And stop berating our players, they are just as good as the Cameroonians.

Rohr has categorically “stated” that Enyeama will be returning to the team before the world cup and he would have probably made the squad for the Cameroonian tie if not of the injury he suffered and just recuperated from. Reports also depicts that he has agreed to cede capitancy to mikel. so for now, I see no justifiable reason if Enyeama and Ikeme are included in the world cup squad along with Akpeyi should in case Nigeria qualifies by God's grace.

Onazi is definitely living in past glory. Musa and Moses Simon too, Moses Simon's own is even worse because I really don't even know which past glory he is living in, the coach just like a him. I just named three players that I think are living on past glory, now lemme name three players that can easily replace them; Kayode, Onyekuru, Dressier, let me not go on.

you want to know why Onazi needs to be dropped? easy, because we have better players in that position, let me not even get into the technical aspects. I however agree that he is a vital utility player, but a starter? No no

personally I like onazi he brings a lotof passion and team bonding to the super eagles but his football has been poor of late. However I don't this his days in the national team are necessarily over. I feel a move to a better league and reinvention of his game will help him get back to his best form.

Moses Simon I don't think he's that bad I personally like everything about his game as a winger just needs to work on his decision making.

Musa yes he can be infuriating and is the one most likely to lose his place but I'm not completely ruling him out because sometimes when I think he is finished he pops up and does something special for the national team

For example, Rohr didn't boast when Nigeria was to take on Algeria, and Nigeria won that game, but the moment Rohr boasted that Nigeria will win match against South Africa “in honor of late Stephen Keshi,” that was when Nigeria lost the match.

The truth is that God helps us when we admit weakness, because that is when He can fully take the glory.

I think it's time people stop berating the Turkish league. Something is brewing there. Just last week Samir Nasri transfered to Antalyaspor. Compasrims between Turkey/Championship is way off the mark following the transfer market trend.

Alex Iwobi could make shock loan move: Galatsaray in talks with Arsenal over deal - report



Iwobi broke onto the first-team scene at the Emirates last season.
But a surprise exit to Turkey could be on the cards.

The report claims the Istanbul club's sporting director Cenk Ergun has opened talks with Gunners top brass about a deal.
Iwobi is under contract with the north London club until 2020.
