Obasanjo Rejects Calls For Restructuring Of Nigeria (Video) by ontiah: 9:56am On Aug 26, 2017 |
Olusegun Obasanjo says what Nigeria needs now is not restructuring of the country but that of individual mentality - He claimed he is not in support of restructuring agitation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQOHbZRAsc0 The former president however called on Nigerians to understand their country as he distanced himself from ongoing calls for the country's restructuring by some Nigerians home and abroad. Obasanjo who made this known on the sidelines of the just concluded African leadership forum in Johannesburg said Nigerians should restructure their minds before calling for restructuring of the country. 14 Likes 2 Shares |

Those who are beneficiaries of the present political structure would never wish for the rearrangement and realignment of the status quo. Thats to tell you how foolish and self centered our leaders can be. Northerners are the current beneficiaries of this status quo and they would ensure nothing like restructuring or even disintegration sees the light of the day. They have the president, they have the numbers at the national assembly, they are united on national issues so we from the 5 percenters should go f*0*k ourselves, our Lord's the 97 percenters have spoken. Nigeria lost it when it's citizens lost the spirit of nationalism, in America and other developed climes, you hear them consider what's best for the country before party lines and tribal lines... Nigeria is so messed up 68 Likes 3 Shares |

When an "elder" spews trash, the future becomes seemingly blank. Obasanjo, you are a major part of this country's calamities. It's a shame you making no effort to rest in peace when your time comes. 5 Likes |

What he's saying is tantamount to a nation suffering from a crime wave, and people clamouring for increased security, improved security, new security policy etc, then Obasanjo comes out and says "we don't need an improvement in our security apparatus, we just need a change of our mentality, stop doing crime and crime will stop". It's so infantile and ridiculous. Corruption is at the epic-enter of everything Nigeria stands for, because the Nigerian system encourages it. If you want to minimise corruption you have to dissuade people from engaging in it. In countries like China, they have a death penalty for corruption, of course that wouldn't be practical in Nigeria, where almost everyone engages in the practice, but it's just to illustrate a point, that if you do not want people to engage in a certain set of behaviours, if you have to implement structures that dissuades such behaviours. If you have a football team that has a disciplinarian problem, what do you do? Do you tell people "behave well" or do you issue fines to people who get yellow and/or red cards? Which is more effective? 9 Likes |

enemyofprogress:every individual has a right to self determination. While I am not in support of disintegration, I strongly condemn anybody who insists that unity is by force. Every human should have a right to choose his or her destiny. Nevertheless, what Nigeria needs is complete RESTRUCTURING. Even in the United States where we borrowed our democracy from, they practice complete federalism. Everybody is allowed to speak their mind. But in Nigeria, a particular group dictates what happens in the country without contributing a dime to the economy . And yet, they get the biggest share from the so called budget. I will see what Nigeria will do when oil eventually becomes useless worldwide. From the bottom of my heart, I condemn anybody who insists on robbing peter to pay Paul. 13 Likes 2 Shares |
