First and foremost, Nicoletheo its great to have you comment and its quite revealing of your nature that you exposed a lot of things about yourself .We try to be a family here and you know we all will react and perceive things differently. I sense a deep seated fear in your question because i mean ,look at all the degrees and certifications you've acquired! You are clearly a purpose -driven,career,go getter whereas your fiance on the hand to you, appears complacent ( He has just a degree and hasn't even bothered to go further). You feel he may pull you back in future or worse still ,you end up being the breadwinner! This is where insight comes in .You need to use questions to find out if he is defined by his Degree or Certificate or whether he has plans and ambitions that are realistic and in sync with yours and you need to see proof RIGHT NOW that he's working towards them. Communicate ! And do not forget that good character which you have pointed out he possesses, is even more priceless. Canada from the seniors here offers a level playing field for everyone whether white or blue collared, heavily Certified or few in between. Just make sure that he truly loves you,is genuine and is not lazy. 27 Likes |

Alikote: Story. They are exceptions, not the norm! There is nothing wrong with worrying about your future with a man financially. All these stupid stories about turning 40 and single is definitely better than being 40 and married to a man who you look after financially. Even the Bible curses such a man. Free the babe. No need for all this condemnation. 9 Likes |

Alikote:Bros, We are not talking about successful musicians. Their wives are graduates oo. I am 100% sure Annie married Tuface because Tuface can take care of his battalions of children, not because he's kind or loves her, because if it is love, he won't have children from 3 other women. So she and the psquare wives married for potential/successful men abi. I am sure Alakija has a degree. Folorunsho was born in 1951 to the family of Chief L. A. Ogbara in Ikorodu, Lagos State. At age seven, she travelled to the United Kingdom to begin a four-year primary education at Dinorben School for Girls in Hafodunos Hall in Llangernyw, Wales. After returning to Nigeria, she attended Muslim High School Sagamu Ogun State, Nigeria. Afterwards, she returned abroad for her secretarial studies at Pitman's Central College, London. She also studied fashion design at the American College, London and the Central School of Fashion. Would you compare the education she got in fashion designing in London and someone with fashion designing from Nigeria? After all said and done, the lady in question wants someone with potential in IT, because she believes there is more potential in IT and that is her field, so she's an authority in what is obtainable in her field. Our education, knowledge, exposure, experience affects the way we see things differently. 8 Likes |

Alikote: Mehn!!!!! Your posts are so uneducated, it's not funny. Since when is marriage built on love ALONE?? You really are taking this personal. Did you experience the same from a woman? Free the girl and her choice. You can marry Uloma from the village if that's your preference. Don't shoot her coz she wants a Dangote. It's NOT A CRIME. 11 Likes |

Alikote:Men every where are looking for women who can contribute to a marriage. It is just has important as other requirements for marriage. Who marries now for beauty ? All these examples are exceptions to the rule. they are not the norm abi how many people have success stories Iike these? In 200 people how many have stories like these? 3 Likes |

Alikote: Oga please stop taking this matter this personal. She's not your girlfriend besides she's entitled to weigh all her options abeg. Some men can be too lackadaisical when it comes to ambition thereby leaving the woman to foot most of the bills. Abeg love with both your head and heart. Darling @Nicoletheo don't worry you'll be fine. He has prospects all he needs is encouragement. When you get to Canada and bills take over he'll straighten out in the end with your love and encouragement but ultimately it's your choice. * Oya let's not derail the thread and move on. 5 Likes |

tundechange: Hey.... Good morning. I'm not in Canada but I feel IT security is really in demand. With the rate at which we store data (in large amount), and rate at which people (hackers) also try to steal this data, IT security peeps are in demand. Organisations (whether financial, medical, hospitality, government, etc) are starting to see the need for these people in order to safeguard their information and also to respond to data breaches within their organisations. I hope this helps you. Thanks. 2 Likes |

Hephgirl:It really depends on you as an individual and your city of residence. I would advice, you research on colleges in your intended city and find courses or certification that are short and not expensive. Some IMGs do challenge the health care aide certification and do well in that. It aids one to work while reading for exams. 1 Like |

I thought this was a thread for living in Canada? The derailing is not healthy for this thread. We are adults let's act like one. Individuals have freedom of choices which is a fundamental right, we should thread with caution and bring back the is thread to its intended purpose. Thanks 7 Likes |

Nicoletheo: Hi are you asking a question or talking about your profile? so your years of experience and Certifications (CBAP and ITIL) will give you a big edge. As for MSC in one of the top schools in UK it doesn't count much, so what stage are you in preparation to come to Canada , there is an express entry thread that can help you. Cos it seems like you haven't even gotten ITA yet (I could be wrong). There are lots of opportunities in Canada and your fiance can also get a good job or switch career path. 7 Likes 1 Share |

Ekpekus: Wow!!! God bless you for taking out the time to write this post. Your opinions are very insightful. I am a final year medical student (will be graduating this year hopefully.. ASUU strike be trying to hold me back but God is in control). I was going to go through the Masters route but based on your post, I may have to reconsider and probably take the UK plab route after NYSC. PLAB is way faster and more affordable than USMLE based on the information I gathered from my seniors. I know a host of medical doctors from my school who had written and passed PLAB within their NYSC year. I actually thought Masters route was the best pathway. Well, I guess I was wrong.. Thank you for opening my eyes to this.. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Please house, what's the quickest way to be a Registered Nurse? My BSc and MSc are both in arts and not sciences. Is this possible to do that I won't have to start from undergrad again and not too expensive? 2 Likes |
Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by Nobody: 6:45pm On Aug 26, 2017 |
seunfoster: Yes I know people who are taking this route. One of them is going to be writing his final exams this year. If you decide that you want to go back to school. Look for an accounting diploma program that will give exemption when you are done. You can usually find this information on CPA's website for the province where you will be residing. Instead of 4 years in school, you can get a job after taking the two years course. You can continue taking your CPA courses. 1 Like |

tarahray20: You'll have to start from undergrad. Some colleges are 3 years for Bachelors of Nursing instead of 4 years in the university. You also have the option of licensed practical nursing- it's a 2 years diploma nursing program. 9 Likes |

There is something else I'll like to share about getting a job in Canada. Please try to attend the newcomer programs available for new immigrants. They'll help with writing your resume, give you tips on Canadian workplace culture. Another helpful resource are recruitment agencies. Sometimes they start you off with term jobs. Please don't say no. It's an opportunity to learn the workplace culture and at the same time gaining the 'Canadian experience'. Sometimes when they see you are good they give you a permanent role. If the company you are working with doesn't, the agency themselves can recommend you to another company for a more permanent role. Also CRA, Canada Revenue Agency is a good place to start. They usually give term to start but it's good experience and good pay. If you work hard they'll keep renewing till they have more permanent roles available. They are hiring right now and from what I was told they are going to be hiring till spring. They have evenings and morning shift so you can combine with school. Side note: please try not to take food that Iru to work if you are going to be using the microwave. Please spare us the exotic smell. Thank you. 50 Likes 12 Shares |
