Ilorin (Nigeria) (AFP) - Farming in Nigeria is not for the fainthearted.

Intermittent electricity means generators are needed half the time. Chronically potholed roads make transport slow and expensive. Fake fertiliser has previously devastated crops, while toxic feed ruined one dairy farm.

But for a group of 13 hardy farmers from Zimbabwe, the opportunity was too good to pass up.


"When it comes to agriculture, there's a lot that can be done here," said Piet du Toit, a weather-beaten 64-year-old farmer from Zimbabwe, as he swung open the gate to his lush garden in Kwara state, western Nigeria.

"But it's got a long way to go and it's not going to happen overnight."

Fourteen years ago, after Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe seized white-owned farms in a controversial land reform programme, Du Toit took up an offer from the Kwara state government to take his skills to Nigeria.

He established a 1,000-hectare (nearly 2,500-acre) commercial farm in the virgin bush, two hours by car north of the state capital Ilorin.

The Danfo is also mostly synonymous with Lagos, it is rather her Lagos experience.
Lagos is a key part of Nigeria though as the economic capital.

Lagos is a South Western State which is a Yoruba region, so yes in a way it's dominated by the Yorubas, but there are people from various ethnic groups in Nigeria there and many foreigners in certain parts. If she goes to Kano, another populated state, her experience may be quiet different and even if she visits Abuja the capital.
In my city Warri for instance, where l grew up, we don't have the Danfo bus experience or yellow buses rather they are blue and white in colour.
I understand that Lagos is a major part of the Nigerian story though and Danfo bus is not the only means of transportation there as well.

I dont support Biafra as such, The secession talk by David Ndii is just to save face. The guy is the Chief Strategist of NASA and the last thing he can ever do is concede his tactics failed miserably. Not to mention that he is Kyuk. basically he's just trying to scare ppl wasimhande juu ya kuchapwa Its like those bratty kids who threaten their parents with funny stuff like running away when beaten.
