Hello All, I am silent reader here. You all are doing a great job. We will like to spend our Christmas in the UK. What documents do we need? Basically for my husband. I went last year with my kid, through this forum i got most info and we were granted without my husband. I work with a salary of 250-300k monthly but my husband does his personal business. His company is not registered yet but he has a good inflow and outflow in his personal saving account,he does not have a company account yet. I hope this does not matter as I have been reading abt CAC and tax clearance certificate for private owner business. Please assist. |

luvhenry: From my little understanding, once you do biometrics you can't get a refund. You can also confirm this on the ukgov website. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by yispa: 2:00pm On Aug 27, 2017 |
expertman: My brother, just keep checking. Once a decision is made it will show decided. We have seen people here that got decision after 2 months of biometrics, we have seen people with shorter duration and if I remember well someone said he applied since May or so and is yet to get a decision. It also depends on the class of visa you applied for. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by yispa: 2:07pm On Aug 27, 2017 |
LazzyH: Ikeja and VI centers offers NO advantage over one another to the best of my knowledge. VI is a user pay center which means you pay to use the center (for submission and biometrics). Ikeja is user free which means you don't pay to use the centre. Note ikeja is usually crowded which might be as a result of it being user free, I heard no much crowd in VI. |

Ekpotek, what about the US visa process? This rubbish doesn't happen because you take your passport with you to an interview and in most cases, a decision is made immediately. After that, max one week and your passport is back in your possession. Just to be clear, I believe if an embassy says decision time is 15 working days for a PAID service, then people have every right to be angry. An apology email doesn't cut it. In fact, they should be sending complaints to the Home Office and threaten to sue. Please ekpotek stop defending them, it is irritating. ekpotek: |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Brightingsus: 5:17pm On Aug 27, 2017 |
nomad26: Mate, if you want the British Embassy to leave your country they go kuku leave, whose loss? They give a 15 working day window and say if your application won't be met within that time they will contact you. Have you asked why some people get their decisions within the timeframe and some others under the same circumstances (different complexities of applications though) get theirs very late Each country has her way of deciding applications. What about Holland (the Netherlands)? You can't get a visa at their high commission anywhere in Nigeria now. You have to go to French Embassy or so... What about Nigeria House in London? It took me 3 months to get my passport renewed after biometrics, as they were out of stock on passport booklets. Should I go and sue the Nigerian Govt? 1 Like |

If you get crappy service from anyone in Nigeria o, UK or Holland, you should complain. Nothing will change if you don't speak up. Your voice is powerful. Brightingsus: |

Hello People. I know you don't get paid for overtime on Nairaland but please I need some advice My friend's UK visa application was noted bt TLSContact as "Application Transferred to Embassy" 14th July 2017 and on the 19th of July 2017 we got another notification from VISAINFO.SHEFO@fco.gov.uk that "Your online application has been received at the UK Decision Making Centre. Your application is currently being prepared for consideration by an Entry Clearance Officer." All has been silent from the British Empire since then.. not a single word.. has anyone experienced such long periods of silence on a visa application? does it take that long for a Clearance Officer to make a decision and have the passport sent' back? What are the likely consequences of a request to withdraw the application and have the passport sent back? there is another pending trip which requires the passport. |

tmoneyluvsu: you might want to call the hotel directly to confirm their charge procedures.. most i have booked are either confirmed with a small charge to your card or charged in full 3-days to your arrival or th every day you arrive. better to call and confirm anyways |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by blessedgeorgeus(m): 6:58pm On Aug 27, 2017 |
LaEvilIMiss: Delay during this period (June, July and August ) is always there for a UK visa... because a lot of applications are been processed at the same time .... it is summer, student are going back to school by September, a lot of people are visiting. Did you get in the content of your mail that application not straightforward ? and secondly what was it standard application processing you choose or priority or super-priority |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Brightingsus: 7:21pm On Aug 27, 2017 |
tmoneyluvsu: Most hotels have free cancellation. This means you can cancel a booking up to 24 hours before your check in date and you wouldn't be charged. But you must watch out for the options with free cancellation. For a given room, the option with free cancellation is slightly higher than the option to pay without cancellation. Whatever be the case, you are charged on the date the room is booked for. The option without cancellation is charged on the date you were booked to move in whether you turn up or not. |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by yispa: 7:37pm On Aug 27, 2017 |
tmoneyluvsu: With your MasterCard details they can pre-authorize your card for the amount any time after the booking even if its free cancellation. However note that pre authorization does not mean they will deduct the money. Technically what pre authorization means is that the amount will be held for a number of days and then released back to your account provided check-in date or free cancellation date is not due. some people use cards with no fund (the danger with this is that booking.com will try to pre-authorize the card an once there is no money or insufficient funds they will advise you to either fund the account or give another valid card details. if you don’t do this in a day or 2, the booking will be cancelled. You can filter on booking.com and pick hotels with ‘No credit card needed’, in this case even if they ask for card details, the card will not pre-authorized. Advise “still use a card with no funds and don’t fund for the duration of the booking”. Secondly, there are hotels in UK that allows free cancellation up to 12 noon or 1pm on arrival date (http://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/home) |

ekpotek: Have you got an evidence that passport are moved too? I repeat no one will move millions of passports from different country of the world down to UK and have it muddled up together, have you thought about the logistics of moving them? how about warehousing while in possiof UK authority? how about those who are gonna do the sorting? If moving passports abroad as you asserted,of what importance is keeping their embassies and high commission around the globe? High cost of visa has nothing to do with movement,so many factors dictate that, the reciprocative agreement between nations.I.e if naija charges £200 for one year multiple entry visa, expect uk to charge the same or something close to that.....Are u saying the US that charges #66k for visa also moves passports? 1 Like |

Brightingsus:Have uou got prove either? |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Brightingsus: 8:42pm On Aug 27, 2017 |
Solatium: The debate is obsolete now, am sorry. We do not know where visas are stamped for visitors. However spouse visas are stamped in Sheffield, that am sure of cos they carry sheffield as Isuing Office. If you go by logistics, what about spouse visa applations; we do not how many applications they receive... Let applicants just be hopeful that what they apply for is what they get. Where the stamping is done is immaterial. |

Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Brightingsus: 9:10pm On Aug 27, 2017 |
Solatium: Ok, if you ask me, I will be of the inclination that visit visas are stamped in the applicant's home country/country of application. This is only adopting logic. I do not know the fact. It is not part of your freedom of information, so they do not owe it to tell applicants where visas are stamped. 1 Like |

Thanks for your response. But in absence of CAC certificate cos even if he registers it now it will be less than 2months before our application date. Can he use his personal saving account? |
