Hi Everyone, Good evening. Please my DW and I have a challenging question to ask. We have weighed our options and we don't think it will be favorable for us to apply for a general B1 visiting visa, as we DO NOT have any family or friends that can give us substantial letter of invitation and proof of sustenance. So we are considering applying for a medical visa instead for my DW. Please we would like to know if anyone has had experience of applying for a medical visa and if it is acceptable for child birth and also what are the documents we would need to provide for that class of visa. Lastly, will applying for a medical visa do us any general good? Best Regards, Josh |

umajosiahNL: You are in the right place. All the information you need from A-Z is here, all you have to do is read up. You don't need to have anybody in the US for you to apply to go and give birth there, and yes it's medical visa she will apply for. 2 Likes |

Hello house, Been following this thread since 2014 when I wanted to go on my 1st missionary journey, but was unable to make it. Anyway, in the spirit of giving back - here goes my story: Left Lagos via Air France (Houston bound) on the 26th of August - I had called the Air France desk in the US twice before leaving Lagos, to confirm if truly the flight would make it to George Bush - I was assured it would. Got to MMA and checked in my baggage, no issues, was not asked for any docs (fit to fly etc) so I proceeded to board. Had a smooth flight to Paris where I once again asked about landing in Houston - I was told we were going, no problem. 4 hour layover went by quick, boarded the flight to Houston (11 hours) About 2.5 hours to landing, the pilot informed us the flight was being diverted to Atlanta Imagine!! Lol! I'm sure they knew before hand but they didn't want the headache of rescheduling flights and all. Anyway, I was like no wahala, as long as they provide accommodation in Atlanta. Got into Atlanta on the 28th - Fast forward to POE (I got my visiting visa earlier this year via drop-box, this was my first time using it). Upon arrival I was directed to use the machine, which scanned and confirmed my visa, and then presented me an electronic version of the landing card to fill, where I also truthfully declared that I was carrying food. The machine queue was extremely short, all in all I spent about 2 mins on the machine. It printed a 'receipt' and I was directed to a 'human' CBP, lol! In my mind I was already like these guys are all frowning (there were 5 of them, they were on their feet by some small, high table desk. They looked like police officers sef as they were dressed in black and had guns (I was confused as to why). Anyway it was my turn after about 2 mins, and here is the transcript: Me: Hello (handed over my passport and machine printed receipt) CBP officer: How long are you in the US? Me: 9 weeks CBP officer: What's the purpose of your visit? Me: Vacation and to have my baby CBP officer: OK! How much cash do you have? Me: $Bleep CBP: OK! Thanks, byee!!! This whole exchange took less than 30 seconds That was it. Proceeded to the conveyor belt to get my luggage - there was an officer there with a sniffer dog, the dog already sniffed someone's luggage out Me I was sha praying cause I carried indomie chicken etc etc As God would have it, my luggage refused to come out until the officer moved to another belt with the tiny dog. That was how I carried my load waka commot ooo.. Then part 2 (the real headache) started - we were directed to the Delta desk to get booked on a Houston bound flight (for where??), and also to get hotel and meal vouchers. The Delta staff acted absolutely confused and kept us on a queue for about 4 hours. I eventually got my vouchers and proceeded to get the shuttle to the hotel. Very nice hotel, only drawback is we have to go back to the airport every day to get new hotel and meal vouchers (don't know why they can't just give us for the duration of our stay). At least it's a free shuttle to and from the airport... Got my ticket to Houston today, flying out on Thursday when they say the airports will be open. Now chilling in my hotel till then, and wondering how Houston will be on that Thursday P.S: Does anyone know if I can open an account with any bank other than BOA? I've read about their charges / minimum balance on this forum and don't want that headache!!! 6 Likes |

God4eva: Thursday will be tough. My colleagues are all off work until further notice and are anticipating more than twice the rain they've had by wednesday. You may want to consider coming next week? Or get a hotel close to the airport until things get better. The earlier you book the better. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by God4eva: 2:22am On Aug 29, 2017 |
Oh wow!! Thanks a lot for the info, I'll start searching for airport hotels now so that I can book, can't afford to be stuck at the airport. Otherwise I may just stay back in ATL till next week as suggested.... TWoods: |

The number of Nigerian patients arriving in El Paso has increased considerably due to the situation in Houston. It is recommended you contact a Physician to confirm that he/she will accept you BEFORE making the trip. |

Good morning everyone. Thank you all for your contributions on this platform. It has really educated me. Pls I need advise. I plan to deliver my baby in the us. Michigan precisely. That is where have got a relative . So I managed to get a doctor and a letter from him but it wasn't detailed and it didn't carry the hospital fees. I went to the embassy but was not given. Can't really phantom why cos I went with my husband. The only doc she checked was the doctor's letter and she asked if that was all and she typed and typed and gave me blue letter. I Dnt know whr I went wrong . I sha later called the hospital and Dey sent me a mail for their fees. Pls now my question should I try again with the doctor's letter and hospital mail? When re applying should I choose b2 while my husband chooses b1/b2? And indicate childbirth and vacation? Or we both choose b2 again. Also do you think it could also be because I declared in the form I was corper?could that be a problem? Thank u |
