So, I woke up this morning with this urge of creating a thread here on Nairaland with the sole aim of reaching out to and bringing together those of us that are addicted to watching pornography and masturbation but are willing to Stop.

I believe everyone knows what Pornography and masturbation are, at least anyone that has access to internet should know.
Porn is rampant these days, you see them virtually everywhere, on billboards, social media platforms, downloading sites, TV adverts, TV series and Reality shows etc. Porn is primarily the main reason for masturbation.

Masturbation is the real issue here, it's not exclusive to a particular gender, girls fap as much as guys, it has assorted nicks like wanking, fapping, jerking off, shooting and the rest. Which ever you Choose to call it, the main point of this thread is to stop it for good.

People who have tried stopping it but didn't succeed, results to preaching the 'health benefits of it' which I once did in order to clear my conscience at one point in time... lol, they give lame excuses why fapping is good for you, they even have a crew which they are well proud of(the one here is Vaseline crew, I assume), funny indeed.

The truth is that Porn and Masturbation does much more harm than any delusional good to you, physically, emotionally or otherwise.

If you are among those that really want to stop, you probably must have typed this cliche on google search bar 'how to stop masturbation' I have done it severally, especially after I just finished 'doing it'. Various blogs would give you various reasons to stop, but the reoccurring points there are summarized below :

1) Porn/Masturbation drains your energy(physical and mental energy)

2) Porn/Masturbation can lead to erection dysfunction or premature climax.

3) Porn/Masturbation reduces your testosterone and your creativity too.

4) Porn/Masturbation drains your Resources, your precious time, money for subscription and the rest.


5) Porn/Masturbation kills you, believe it or not.


Let's share our Challenges here, and for those who were able to overcome this addiction(s), you can share your success stories with us that are still battling in order to encourage us

Another step to recovery is avoiding Pornographic materials be it videos, magazines, songs(you read that right), and sensual and sensitive pictures like all those rubbish we have on Romance section e.g 'instagram model with the largest hips, oranges' topics, or posts like '12 year old with the biggest ukwu on earth' trash, avoid sexual videos of pastors caught digging a member or 'two secondary school students caught pants down'

The point here is, avoiding anything that will 'trigger' you, cos that's the main problem, once you get triggered, all those 'self control' talks may not save you at this point, so avoid anything that will arouse you.

The last time I fapped, it started with me 'harmlessly' googling the name of one instagram model like that, then her pictures came up, from checking out her pictures, I landed on a complete porn site, the rest became history

As someone rightly said, first u have to admit that u have a problem that needs urgent solution
2. Only u can successfully profer that solution to urself
3. Stay away from romance section
4. Many of us have fears, something that sends a chill down our spines, maybe nightmares, wen u get an erection in one second brood over those fears and the erection will flap down in a moment.
5. Get busier than u ever think u can, always work urself up the entire day, u can hardly self-service wen u re tired.
6. If after a week or two u go back to it, dont accept defeat, start up again and this time determine to do better.

Sometimes all these things might fail but if u re a christian then become a worker in church and get more committed.
Different stroke for different folks but thats my penny advice.
Remember masturbation is better than pre marital sex, in as much as both are undesirable dont exchange the former for the latter, abstinence is the best

Don't be ashamed to talk to people about it if you genuinely want to stop. Well, it's okay to be ashamed, let that shame not consume you rather, let it be a motivating factor
to stop, if you can't talk to people face to face about it, you can comment on forums or threads about your addiction, you can create anonymous monikers for it, remember a problem shared is nearly solved

mehn... this story is typical of any chronic masturbator which I once was, I could remember when I fapped immediately after reading the Bible, yes I was addicted to that extent, but believe me there is hope, he can overcome his addiction, you really need to educate him on the implications of porn and masturbation

I'm glad yours reduced, hopefully it will stop completely one day.

Another truth is that you can't stop masturbation abruptly, rather you stop gradually, maybe from daily to weekly then to monthly, yearly and so on till you stop completely.

If you really have vowed to stop, but after a long time you find your self back at it, don't give up, just know that you didn't turn into a chronic masturbator in a day, and as such you won't stop in day, rather gradually and hopefully, you'll stop completely one day.

Regret, is one of the post-masturbation norms, another is hatred. You'll be filled with so much regret and hate just after doing it, you'll even vow never to do it again only to go back to your vomit at any slight provocation.
