The Arewa Youths Coalition (AYC), which announced the withdrawal of the quit notice given the Igbo, on Thursday, has said that it would take the ‘siddon look’ posture in order to allow the Federal Government do the needful.

In an interview with the Saturday Tribune, the leader of the Arewa Youths Coalition, Yerima Shettima, reaffirmed that they have suspended the Igbo quit notice as a result of intervention from prominent Nigerians within and outside the country.

He stated that, ‘With the intervention of people like the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Saad Abubakar, chairman, Northern States Governors Forum and Governor of Borno State, Alh Kashim Shettima as well as the former Chief Security Officer to the former Head of State, General Sani Abacha, Major Al-Mustapha, and also appeals from the international community and other stakeholders, we now have to suspend the issue (Igbo quit notice).

In defending their action, Shettima maintained that the antecedents of the IPOB leader, Kanu were clearly misplaced and apron to violence.

According to him,”To compound the issue, nobody from the South East region appeared to condemn his action,

He added that, “We announced the quit notice out of frustration. Now, we have also realised that two wrongs cannot make a right.”

According to him, the Arewa youths are now pleased with the outpour of condemnations coming from Igbo leaders as well as their governors.

Commenting on their next line of action, he stated that, ”even though we have not decided on the next line of action, but in the next couple of weeks and even months our body language would be ‘siddon look.

However, he was quick to advise the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to take advantage of the olive branch extended to him and review his position in the interest of the country.

‘What we expect from him is that he has a re-think. It is never too late for him to join hands with us in building a nation we would all be proud to call our own, “he said.

We have been building nigeria for 50+ years with no results. Instead things are moving backwards. Since una no want restructuring because the north is unproductive, the best solution now is to go our separate ways. The north must bend the knee.

Y these youth cannot respect divergent of views and leadership in Nigeria? Must the North emasculate everything and everyone?

However, i must commend their current approach, it is the right approach.

I am sure Nnamdi Kanu is far more likily to respond to this than threats and violence, hope Buahri government also changes their tactics before it is too late.

If u can negotiate with violent Boko Haram, u can negotiate with non violent IPOB.

These Arewa youths sef!

Even if nnamdi Kanu suddenly says No more Biafra, or is killed or jailed, the people will still leave him and continue the protest. Nnamdi Kanu has support because Arewa and Buhari have made any talk of change in Nigeria to be impossible. That is why Biafra has become the only possible alternative out of slavery.

So, No need to beg nnamdi Kanu, if you provide the conditions to make his quest for Biafra unnecessary. many Igbos still prefer Nigeria, but they do not want to be perpetually second class citizens of any country. So they support the quest for freedom which is what Biafra symbolizes. Remove the oppression of a section of the country as the state policy of the federal government and Biafrans themselves will argue that Nigeria is a better alternative not even Arewa youths.

if you guys agreed to restructuring the federation so that roads in the southeast and southsouth are the responsibility of their governors, they can also build their own factories, and govern themselves without everything coming from Abuja, then they would hold their governors responsible if the federal roads there are so bad and all the reasons driving Biafra would have been unnecessary.

Blocking any discussion on restructuring from the national assembly or senate in the futile hope to kill the topic is simply childish. A time will come that restructuring will also become unacceptable and seen as a betrayal of those who have given their so much blood shed for biafra. That is why those that are wise are saying it now, but the foolish ones are there threatening war and genocide as if that will change anything

Build Arewa and muslim council of Nigeria no thank you, as much as I want a one Nigeria it's not possible with Hausa people in it.
The South have always push for the best candidates and development as our main concern, but tribe and religion are the most important to Hausa people which is pulling us backward as a result.

These union failed in 1966 and it is failing as I am tying, Hausa people will never change for anybody it's against their religion to be ruled by a non Muslim. They tend to produce leaders that don't have the right motive for leadership and produces semi literate leaders.

Oh how I wish Nnamdi Kanu was fighting for the betterment of Nigeria...he's indeed a courageous one who looks death in d eye and never relents...I love his charisma and boldness....Let FG invite all groups to a round table for proper discussion on the way forward..not inviting a sect and neglecting others while issuing out threats that will only fuel crisis.... Violence has never solved anything in Nigeria, why not try other options...it will be very unwise to keep doing the samething expecting diff results... Take US as a case study, they have been unable to restore peace in the middle east through violence over d years...lets disregard any violent approach to this matter and pursue a peaceful resolution.
God bless Nigeria

The Muslims have done this through out their history
They ve their plans well worked out

That "sauce" is not sweet at all. But stop trolling that guy cos he has sufficiently and undeniably Mayweathered you on the UN thread. Be man enough and give it up already, no shame in that.

Nonaira1, do not dignify with a response! I repeat, do not dignify with a response!

OK, I can now see a credible "sauce"

Na wa o....like someone said in the other thread, the ultimatum by Arewa youths was merely an attempt to compound Osibanjo's headache! They thought Buhari was never coming back! How true... grin
