Honestly u played d game, first choice always undergo special drill b4 full training session.I remember Eagles camp at papendal in Holland then,Rufai was always going through d special drill while Agonavbare and Agu going through normal training.

Hope Akpeyi rise up to d occasion coz we don't need fumbling goalkeeper in this match and with new goalkeeper trainer,i believe psychologically there w be an improvement on d side of goalkeeping aspects

all we can do today is pray. while we were watching the training session yesterday some of my colleagues were saying that he has been dropped, they don't understand that what they are saying is the opposite. I have been praying since then sha, hopefully Akpeyi will channel his inner Enyeama and save us on that day

One thing with west African teams is that they are technically and tactically inept. They have the players, but they don't have the tactics to utilize the rich talents.

I just hope so sha...

But why's our things different in Nigeria, Wilfred Zaha switch didn't linger this long before it was processed same with Cornet but since March till now FIFA has still not cleared Aina. I pray he does get cleared before game time on Friday.
But I pity our RB and LB with Moukandjo and Bassagog breathing down their a*s. Ogu should be a better cover for them at DM not Onazi

5 things we learnt from team's training session

pulse.ng

Aug 30, 2017 3:55 AM

These are five observations made at the training session of the Super Eagles on Tuesday.

The Super Eagles had a training session on Tuesday ahead of Cameroon's game  (Twitter/Super Eagles)

23 players trained at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Tuesday, September 29 as the Super Eagles began preparation for their 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon.

Following the arrival of the likes of Victor Moses, Leon Balogun and John Ogu on Tuesday morning, coach Gernot Rohr had his full squad for training later in the evening.

John Mikel Obi tackles Wilfred Ndidi in training  (Twitter/Super Eagles)

The training session started with some fitness run and stretches led by the fitness coach before the players were divided into two for a game of one-touch football.

The team with the highest number of consecutive passes won the tie. After that, the goalkeepers who were working on their own joined the rest of team for a training match.

These are five things we learnt from training

1. Aaron Samuel is needed against Cameroon

CSKA Moscow forward Aaron Samuel was called up to the squad following the injury toAlex Iwobi. The forward trained with the team on Tuesday and it was clear why he is a better choice for the Super Eagles for the games against Cameroon than Iwobi.

The CSKA Moscow man was menacing in training; fast with a good left leg and a physical presence, his is the type of striker that can trouble the Cameroonians. Why Iwobi’s place in the Super Eagles is not under question, Samuel needs to be on the team more often. Well, he has to prove that he deserves call-ups like this in games.

2. Super Eagles new goalkeeping coach is seriously working on the goalkeepers

New Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer Enrico Pionetti was seriously working on the goalkeepers for most of Tuesday’s training session.

Pionetti spent most of the evening working with Daniel Akpeyi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa andDele Alampasu separately from the group.

After Akpeyi’s horror show in June’s home defeat to South Africa, Pionetti is trying to make sure the Super Eagles goalkeepers don’t suffer a similar fate.

3. Elderson Echiejile is the only left-back in camp

Elderson Echiejile  (Catherine Ivill - AMA/Getty Images)

Echiejile, it seems will be one of the first names in the Super Eagles starting XI as he was the only left-back in the camp.

During the training match that was played, it was clear why he keeps getting games for the Super Eagles.

In the training match, Tyronne Ebuehi, a right-back played in left-back for one team while Echiejile played for the other.

Judging from Echiejile's last few performances for the Super Eagles, competition is needed in that position.

4. William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun central defence pairing tried out

The Super Eagles had a practise match in training  (Pulse)

Rohr seems to have decided on the Troost-Ekong and Balogun pairing in central defence which he tried in training.

Although they conceded a goal courtesy ofOdion Ighalo, Ekong and Balogun played well together. They communicated well and showed signs of a good partnership.

5. New boys settling in well

The likes of Ola Aina, Anthony Nwakaemeand Ifeanyi Matthew got their first training session with the Super Eagles but they did not look out of place.

The boys hit the ground running and it was good to see.

Aina has trained with the Super Eagles squad before but with an almost different team.

1, make coach shine eyes well well before em carry Aaron put for starting lineup when Ighalo dey dere. grin

2, Thank God Enrico Ponetti is the goalkeeper coach. grin

3, if Echiejile is not inform or good enough for the match, make dem put Aina or Ebuehi for that LB. They have played there in their various clubs. Abi, What is the need of calling them to the national team if the coach thinks they are not good enough to play? Abi if Echiejile get injury during the course of the game, na me dem one put for dere? shocked grin

4, if Troost and Balogun dey fumble for the match, make the coach begin prepare plan B oooo else confusion of who replaces come brake bone oooo. grin

He should reserve Ndidi who was a natural CB and Uche Ugbo should incase casala happen though pray for none. grin

5, How Ifeanyi Matthew take enter the team when his name was never in the list? shocked shocked Through the back door of mago mago secret way!? So, we can say Matthew dropped Kayode, ba. Bhuuuhahaha! shocked grin

Me I go talk ooooooo. grin

From yesterday's mini-match I watched , I think the best player was Ndidi(dude was really solid especially with his long range shots) , Balogun was also solid, no one got past him (dude was just boning face all through, hope all is well shaa) , Mikel was also good with some nice passes, and Ola Aina was awesome, Dat dude is so so skillful and very good with the ball, except that his defending wasn't so great, he lacked pace , in fact he didn't even run that much., I just hope he is preserving his energy for Saturday's game. Ebuehi guy is also quite good except that he is far better attacking than defending..... the rest were just average, even Victor Moses :/ and the two goalkeepers (Non impressed me)

Done Deal: Reading Smash Transfer Record To Sign Super Eagles StrikerEFL Championship outfit Reading have completed the signing of Nigeria international Sone Aluko after a successful medical.

The winger and striker ended his one-year association with Fulham after putting pen to paper on a four-year deal with the Royals, which will keep him at the Madejski Stadium until the end of the 2020-21 season.

The 28-year-old Aluko previously wore the colours of Birmingham City, Aberdeen, Blackpool, Rangers and Hull City.

He will suit up with the number fourteen jersey if he makes his debut for Reading against Bristol City on September 9.

Reading smashed the club's transfer record to sign Aluko, with a fee of 7.5 million pounds being mooted.

Words of wisdom....and maybe a little mockery smiley

Jordan Ibe situation is quite complicated, do not be too judgemental and presumptuous.

Ibe's mother separated from his biological Father at a very early age and remarried. Her husband Michael is Jamaican and there has been an almost zero Nigerian input into his life. In addition Michael brought Ibe up from a very young age, the only Father he has ever known is Michael.

It was never about the chance to play for England but he is just has no connection to Nigeria. You could blame his mother but then you don't what possible hell she went through with Ibe's biological Nigerian father.

I see a lot of bitter and damaged Nigerian origin kids who have been abandoned by thier Fathers. What do you expect them to think of Nigeria in those circumstances. Lots of love and affection
