What You Should Know About Google (great Or Scary?) by badthinds: 9:35am On Aug 30, 2017 |
I have a penchant for writing "a critical look at"-kind of articles...but for some reasons I didn't entitle this thread that way. If you're a human or bot reading this article, you should know what/WHO google is. I want to start by reminding you of the ancient sayings of "The kind of questions you ask tells everything about you" or something like that. This article is towards the google Search Service I had been hearing a lot about google and their scary A.Is here and there...speculations and all that. The day it dawned on me was when... Personal Experience One day, I signed in to my Gmail just to get a message from google. They were like "Hey, [strike]badthinds[/strike] - hook up with what you love best..." Of course, I wasn't surprised how they knew I was a programmer. The worrisome dimension was that they knew the kind of programmer I was, my level of expertise et al. I wasn't shocked at the end...after I gave myself a critical look . I realized all my questions were channeled to google. To those who use google search alone , the picture I want to paint in your head is the expression you get on your face when you see a creature first time...from another planet. Anyone can know you completely by the questions you ask - its worse if you ask just one person! Ever since I had that same feeling...the kind I had about facebook that made me pause/suspend it for over a year now (The only message facebook hasn't sent to me is something like "Na war for you oo...wetin we do you na?? Mtcheew". The feeling is like thinking Seun and his mad Bot are always watching you..ready to ban. But its worse with google...they indeed know everything about you...Your business emails, when you were searching 'how to know if a girl loves you', your bad football/porn habit, your current job...or whatever it is. Google mail, photos, docs, your phone's local search etc - their aim is to enter every nook and niche in you. Google is great 1. They know your facial identity(facebook too...theirs is in a wicked way...facebook can scan and recognise the faces of each member of your family - such a way you'll not know if to grin or scream) 2. They know your full real name 3. They know your address 4. They know your personality (internet personality / real life personality) 5. They know what you are upto...where you are...what you are doing. 6. If you use blogger, they already know your writing skills 7. The way you construct your search keywords also tell about your intelligence, somehow. ... The people I really envy The people on the internet I sincerely envy and want to be like - are those you can't find anything reasonable about them from the internet. Sound stupid huh? It is most scary, that the price I would pay, if I want to dump google a bit...Would be too great!. It should be True that you shouldn't be a bit worried about your privacy security (with google). But who knows? Anyway, you can't help it now. 15 years too late Nothing is simple about google...even the smart simple logo 'G'. If google says: "Google is your friend"...there is more to it. It is an intimate one. It knows you more than your girlfriend. Sincerely, badthinds. End Note: I'm not hating...who are you to hate google? Google is great and you can't stop using its services. 1 Like |

badthinds: For me, they don't. I mean, sure, they could guesstimate my identity and link multiple accounts together, but, the last time I used my personal details online was about a decade ago on FB and that account has since been deleted. As far as knowing my address goes, mhmm, IP tracking is a thing. Some people may not know it but Google keeps a record of (if you're logged in to your account): - every search you've ever made using their search engine - every app Android device has, when you use them (right down to the second) and how many times you use them - every video you've ever watched on YouTube - every location you've ever searched for on Google Maps |

Interesting Topic. remaining unknown to google's data centers isnt too difficult. you only need to sacrifice your real identity for a guy that doesnt exist. avoid using Android OS completely. make tor your default browser. ...or, just avoid the internet all together. |

ovoSoft:lies. They now do more than that, they will sell ur info to tge highest bidder or should sometin pop up someday especially cases related to fraud.also with facebook, immagine fb messager now incopporates the text messager to their app, all in a bid to get into ur fone more and see everything u wouldnt grant them access to on a good day. All these tech coys are really doing more damages than harm. For me i dont use fb messager or fb app, thats the first way fb gets into ur phone. Another way is not signing ul with ur number use email instead. Like for instance i can track anyone using their phone nunber right to their home unless they dont have google map on their phone.how i do it is left to me but if i can do that then be rest assured that google can too Aslp stay away from google photo and use dropbox instead of google drive, google ia trying hard to make sure everyone depends on them by making their stuff free but if you really know what google does with ur data then you would understand everythinh i wrote up here..... |

So what other search engines are there and how are we sure those too are not busy saving our personal information? |

@JoyAA There are others eg bing.com, there is mail@india.com (only my phone knows how many emails I have ) , do you really need google photos et al? Also, don't put all your eggs in one basket...I use google one minute, bing the other and tor the next hour ...I keep mixing up things. |

@joyAA There is DuckDuckGo dot com too for searching, they don't monitor your search (so they say). DuckDuckGo can even send you an encrypted search from Google by adding "!g" to your search word. |
