NFF in the dark over Lions’ plans ’Tana Aiyejina The Nigeria Football Federation are still in the dark over when the Indomitable Lions will arrive Uyo for their 2018 World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles on Friday. The African champions have kept their travel plans to themselves, with the Nigerian FA uncertain of when they would arrive the country. “About 50 hours to the match, we still haven’t heard from them (Cameroonians). They previously reached out to us on what they are entitled to on arrival in Nigeria like transportation and security and we told them,” Ademola Olajire, NFF spokesman, said. “But they haven’t told us when they are coming. We believe that they would probably land on Wednesday night, just to be able to make the official training on Thursday evening. We also believe they will arrive before that time. Some countries do it; they may be coming via a chartered flight.” However, Olajire added that irrespective of the tricks of the Eagles’ fierce rivals, the federation was banking on the experienced players to subdue the visitors. “We have players who have the ability, who are tested, have seen it all; players who love to go to war. They will get the job done. Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Aaron Samuel and Odion Ighalo are all back. These are players that can get the job done. There’s also new boy Anthony Nwakaeme, who has been doing very well in Israel. I strongly believe the Eagles are going to subdue the Lions,” Olajire added. http://punchng.com/nff-in-the-dark-over-lions-plans/ |

forgiveness: I am not interested in anyone who does not want to play for us. That is like Long-Drinking for Messi. If they do not want to play for us, wish them good luck and move on. Stop acting like a guy dumped by a check and still begging for her love. That is disgusting. I Yama. We need regular high profile Youth friendlies from U15-U23 to keep unearthing talents who are devoted to the Nigerian flag. 1 Like |

Fitness Fears Over Victor Moses As Chelsea Star Misses Super Eagles Gym Workout Allnigeriasoccer.com understands Chelsea right wing-back Victor Moses has emerged a fitness doubt ahead of the crucial double header against Cameroon. Speculations were fueled on Thursday morning as the mercurial winger missed the team's gym workout. However, team officials denied these claims, stating that Moses was actively involved in yesterday's team training and completed same without any injury concerns. The 26-year-old Moses was last involved for the Super Eagles in their World Cup qualifier against Algeria in November 2016, missing all other national teams games since then due to injury. The national team will hold their final training session on Thursday evening ahead of tomorrow's clash against the African champions. Nigeria: NFF, Zenith Unveil 2017 U13, U15 Future Stars Tournament By Olaoluwa Ogungbe The 2017 Nigerian Football Federation (NFF)/Zenith Bank U-13 and U-15 Future Eagles Stars tournament was unveiled yesterday in Lagos with the organisers calling for entries from across the country. At a press conference held in Lagos yesterday to herald the competition, Zenith Bank's Head of Digital Marketing, Mr. Pascal Or, who was representing the Group Managing Director of the bank, Peter Amangbo, said the institution was delighted to be part of the initiative to empower the youths of the country and was confident future Super Eagles players would emerge through the competition. He said: "When a good idea is thoroughly packaged, you know from the onset that it will be successful. The NFF has done brilliantly well with the way they handled the first edition and the plans they have unveiled for the second championship. "My challenge goes to other organisations to get involved in forms of youth development. The youth is the heart and soul of every nation and they should be happy. "Zenith Bank is keen to continue to support and be identified with this programme, especially because sports development is a key area in our social responsibility role in the country." Also speaking on the tournament, NFF Vice President, Seyi Akinwunmi, who is also the Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association, said it is in line with the youth development policy of the federation. http://allafrica.com/stories/201708310587.html 2 Likes 1 Share |

Height is a preference but NOT a requirement for a good goalkeeper. It's the same with Center Backs. All things being equal, a good coach would prefer a taller goalkeeper to man the post but there are many equally important qualities we look for when we evaluate goalkeepers. The trouble with an average Nigerian is that once he learns something new, he would hold tightly onto it as if his life depends on it. I only made a passing reference, on a different thread, that Rohr probably preferred Akpeyi over Ezenwa because of his height advantage; then this Goldenfish dude (or whatever da heck he calls himself) starts parroting it (without any filters) as if that's his ATM card number O pari TheGoodJoe: |

Five Indomitable Lions who can hurt the Super Eagles 1. Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa: Having rejected Hugo Broos’ invitation to represent the Indomitable Lions in Gabon, many would’ve laughed off suggestions of the tenacious midfielder becoming a vital component in the Cameroon side six months down the line. However, he’s done exceptionally well since his reintegration into the side and was arguably the best player in the African champions’ disastrous tournament in Russia. The Marseille player doesn’t back down from a scuffle and his uncompromising style could rattle the Super Eagles’ midfield, while his unique reading of the game makes him anything but a one-trick-pony. 2. Vincent Aboubakar: The FC Porto man gets a lot of stick from critics for his profligacy in front of goal, but that doesn’t change the fact that on his day, he’s one heck of a player that can single-handedly wreak havoc on any defence. The powerful front man came off the bench to score the winning goal in the Africa Cup of Nations final against Egypt, and he’ll be motivated to make amends for his poor Confederations Cup performance when they slug it out with the Super Eagles. 3. Benjamin Moukandjo: Cameroon’s skipper was named Man of the Match against Egypt as he lived many a dream when he lifted the most prestigious trophy on the continent. Unfortunately, he couldn’t replicate that form in their disappointing run in Russia – probably down to fatigue after a gruelling season with relegated FC Lorient. However, make no mistake, the Lions’ talisman has found a new lease of life since his move to Jiangsu Suning, and having found the back of the net on four occasions in five appearances, the attacker might fancy his chances of squaring up to the Nigeria defence. 4. Christian Bassogog: With his fleet feet and silky running, the wideman’s class is unquestionable. Yet, while he may sometimes frustrate with his erratic decision making in the opponents’ third, the threat he brings with his pace and skill cannot be ignored. The Henan Jianye forward also has an eye for goal too, having found the back of the net seven times in 18 appearances this season. His threat needs to be contained by the Super Eagles, or else his they run the risk of him having his marker on toast! 5. Fabrice Ondoa: The shot stopper’s reputation has risen significantly in the last year as a consequence of his impressive performances for the Indomitable Lions. He may not be first choice at club level, but for the African champions, he’s indispensable. The Sevilla Atletico stopper was immense during Cameroon’s journey to Africa Cup of Nations glory in Gabon, and was one of the bright sparks in an otherwise gloomy Confederations Cup campaign earlier this summer in Russia. Finding a way past the athletic stopper could prove a Herculean task if the Super Eagles don’t have their shooting boots on. http://www.goal.com/en-ng/galleries/five-indomitable-lions-who-can-hurt-the-super-eagles/5/jgwoo6kiytpa18v98vq4ypx6z |

Super Eagles Are Good Enough To Dismantle Indomitable Lions In Uyo - Sokari By Augustine Akhilomen CS Sfaxien midfielder, Kingsley Sokari is confident the Super Eagles will dismantle the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in a 2018 World Cup qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Friday. The two football power house in Africa will be desperate for points in a bid to take step further in their quest to picking the automatic slot for the mundial slated for Russia. Nigeria are top of Group B with six points while their Cameroonian counterpart are on two points after playing two matches. Speaking with Sokari from his base in Tunis on Wednesday, he told Kickintel that though he expect a difficult encounter against Cameroon but he insisted that the team would win on Friday. "Fridays game against Cameroon won't be an easy one for the Super Eagles considering the fact that the two teams are two of Africa's football power house," Sokari told Kickintel.com. "My take on this game is that Nigeria will pick the three points knowing fully that we are playing at home and the players knows very well that a win will move them a step to qualifying for tbr World Cup before facing them in Yaounde on Tuesday. "I don't think what happen to the team against South Africa will repeat itself again because this is a different ball game and the calibre of players in the Super Eagles will definitely crush Cameroon. http://www.soccernet.com.ng/2017/08/super-eagles-are-good-enough-to.html 1 Like |
