Daniel Amokachi could have been quoted out of context. Let's not forget he was an assistant to the late Stephen Keshi, who I personally suspected of underhand deals. Did Aluko pay to get his first call up? Has Aluko remained in the limelight all this while? we can only have 23 men or so in SE at every point in time. It's hard to set ONE standard as regards who should be in the team. Coaches have different standards. I remember Oliseh's policy of no out field players who do not play in the first tier. Let's not try to make it seem like it's solely an NFF issue. The coaches we've had over the years have fought to act without interferences from the NFF. Corruption is part of our system. But the problem we have here is that we do not have many players playing in big clubs in Europe -- indisputable stars -- so there are many grey areas when our coaches make decisions. Anyone can in fact feel hard done by.. need I mention free agent Nosa Igiebor?

What we have here is a country where everyone feels marginalized and can give you examples to buttress their claim.

I can assure you 100% that Sone Aluko exclusion had nothing WHATSOEVER to do with ability but everything to do with SETTLEMENT and a complete lack of understanding of egunje politics and or a refusal to play the game the Nigerian way by Sone.

Do your homework, consider Gabriel Rueben, signed a 3 year contract with lowly Kilmarnock played maybe 30 minutes was so bad he never played all season again and was released shockingly he went to the World cup for us meanwhile Aluko was a regular for Hull in the EPL. Check who Reuben's is agent was at the time and the arrangements concerning match bonuses, and you may be opening a very smelly can of worms, I am mindful of defamation his agent was Tony Harris.

Consider players who were omitted and mediocre players like Uchebo and others were selected and you know big wahala deh many questions arise that are indicative of sharp practices.

Your head is there.....Your lineup is spot on
Ogu would be a preferable choice cos he'd be intimidating to the Lions and he'll provide more cover should Ndidi moves forward.
nice lineup....
Buh trust me nacho wont sit this one out....
SS or AMF buh not CF
mikel will play cmf
ndidi dmf
unless rohr uses a formation dah can accommodate ss n amf(which i doubt he would)

dats y i cant wait 4 2mao lineup

Having said that, my insult on my person was totally uncalled for and I will report you to the moderators of this forum if you don't desist. I have watched you here on NL for a while and I can diagnose you as someone with Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

...Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others. But behind this mask of ultra confidence lies a fragile self-esteem that's vulnerable to the slightest criticism.

And I know that because if you have narcissistic personality disorder, you may come across as conceited, boastful or pretentious. You often monopolize conversations. You may belittle or look down on people you perceive as inferior. You may feel a sense of entitlement — and when you don't receive special treatment, you may become impatient or angry. You may insist on having "the best" of everything — for instance, the best car, athletic club or medical care....

....At the same time, you have trouble handling anything that may be perceived as criticism. You may have secret feelings of insecurity, shame, vulnerability and humiliation. To feel better, you may react with rage or contempt and try to belittle the other person to make yourself appear superior.... and I can go on and on, but I think you got the point.

This is not criticism just facts. If you doubt me, please go meet another psychiatrist.

I admire your optimism.

Tega is on loan at Villa, not really good enough to force his way into the first team at the moment. In addition he is player I have watched since he was 15/16 both in training and in live matches to the current stage he is in. Currently, he is not better than Etebo,he is a work in progress but he is moving up. As they are both Uhrobo sons i cannot be accused of tribalism LOL.

However, the other Tega is looking extra sharp and a true premiership striker with Swansea.

Well, from what I have seen and my past experience, I will not wait until he proves himself good enough for the Super Eagles before I advise we cap him because I know he's good enough. grin

You better fear fear people here because if you continue to mention names similar to Uhrobo, bros, you don turn tribalist be that sharp sharp. grin

Is Victor Moses in trouble?
Chelsea agree deal for Torino's Davide Zappacosta*

Chelsea have agreed a deal to sign Torino right-back Davide Zappacosta, according to Sky sources.

The 25-year old has agreed to move to Stamford Bridge for a reported £23m, plus add-ons, where he will link up again with Antonio Conte - who selected the defender for Italy in 2016.

Zappacosta, who has made four international appearances for his country, joined Torino from Atalanta in 2015, where he has since featured in 58 Serie A games.

Chelsea boss Conte has been in the market for a right-sided player this summer, with bids being rejected for Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Bayern Munich's Rafinha.

In Zappacosta, Conte will have a player renowned for featuring in the right-wing-back position, a role Conte has utilised successfully in his 3-4-3 formation since arriving at Chelsea last summer.

No doubt Zappacosta's arrival will make Moses to sit up.

But don't forget Chelsea are featuring in more competitions this season(4) and there is no way Moses will play all likewise Zappacosta so it's still a win win for the players and club.

Sometimes, I just wonder what could be the ultimate goal of our footballing administrators.

Is it winning the world cup or just chop I chop that they become so blind so tey all the better players dey allude us?

For our very eyes David Alaba, Dennis Aogo, Ross Barkley, Adebayo, Dele Alli, Angelo Ogbonna and recently Manual Akanji waka commot for our very eyes. Why?

If we put some of these boys on our current list, no bi to dey dream World cup trophy? grin

Now, very soon we go lose Dominic Solanke, Josh Onomah, Abraham, Jordan Torunarigha, Uduokhai Felix, Ademola-lookman Sheyi Ojo etcetera because dem no pay rite to any chop I chop fellow.

These boys are very very good but our Oga at the top thinks otherwise.

I am not saying we we should trow-way all our boys but haba these boys are good. grin

What makes you think all these guys want to play for us?
David Alaba - We screwed up big time. Biggest loss ever
Aogo - once said he wanted to play for us, rejected an invite from Amodu later on
Adebayor - Think he went for trials with the u20 and didn't make it(not sure). At the moment he broke out, we had better strikers
Ross Barkley - Only acknowledged his Naija roots. Never wanted to play for us
Dele Alli - Was never interested.

Highlight Of Super Eagles Training – Victor Moses & Mikel Show Class But Aina Steals The Show
mobile.nigeriasoccernet.com Aug 31, 2017 1:00 PM

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are expected to round up their preparations for tomorrow’s World Cup 20V18 Qualifiers clash against Cameroon later this evening.

Owngoalnigeria.com Osas Mahawi who witnessed their open training session and also gathered reports about their close door session held yesterday brings us his reports.

1. Victor Moses Will Be Key

He has shown his class in all their training sessions, his abilities on the ball is extraordinary, and that’s keeping it mild. So far he looks the real threat in the attack of the Super Eagles ahead of tomorrow’s game.

2. Mikel Obi’s Class Is Permanent

The captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria John Obi Mikel appears not to have lost the quality that kept him at Chelsea for ten and half seasons as he has turned out impressive performances since the start of training.

Mikel’s link up play with Ndidi in the middle was one of the highlight of yesterday’s close door session as the team perfected their strategy ahead of tomorrow’s clash.

3. Ola Aina Is More At Home As Right Back Than Left Back

The latest in the line of players who have represented other nations at youth level but opt for Nigeria at senior level. Although his debut is still in doubt as he is yet to be cleared by FIFA, he has so far distinguished himself in training.

However he appears more comfortable playing as a right back than left back during the sessions witnessed by owngoalnigeria.com. Although he didn’t do badly as a left back, it’s clear from his performance that right back is where he can be truly efficient.

Nigeria vs Cameroon: Indomitable Lions’ game plan revealed
dailypost.ng Aug 31, 2017 6:27 PM

Head coach of the Cameroon national team, Hugo Broos, has given a hint of how he will set up his team against Nigeria, in tomorrow’s 2018 World Cup qualifier in Uyo.

Broos, who initially said he was targeting a point from the game and all three points in the reverse fixture in Yaounde, insists his team will play the game based on the players at his disposal.

The coach is without some of his first-choice players and has ‎warned against attacking football.

“We have to worry about stopping them from scoring before we think of scoring ourselves. Yes we are not going to defend in numbers but we won’t go all out attacking as well. It could be counter productive.

“We know Nigeria has pace in attack, we have to nullify that threat and hopefully it will work out well for us. It won’t be easy but we are not scared of Nigeria,” Broos said on Thursday.

Nigeria and Cameroon face off at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday, in the first of two crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers in three days.

What could the coaches -- Gernot Rohr and Hugo Broos respectively -- be thinking tactically when both teams renew their rivalry? Here are five key individual battles the bosses will be keeping in mind.

Ikechukwu Ezenwa vs. Vincent Aboubakar

Nigeria goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa could not have a trickier baptism of fire as he looks to stake a permanent claim on the Super Eagles number one jersey. The FC Ifeanyi Ubah stopper will be in the direct line of fire of red-hot Vincent Aboubakar, a striker who has already netted four goals in four games for FC Porto this season, including a hat-trick against Moreirense.

Aboubakar is not usually the most potent goal scorer for the Indomitable Lions, with 18 goals in 60 appearances, but he does pick his moments to deliver. A typical example is his AFCON-wining strike against Egypt this year.

Ezenwa needs to earn his pay on the day when faced with the very experienced Aboubakar, but with adequate cover from the defensive duo of William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun, he should possibly see out the Aboubakar threat.

Wilfred Ndidi vs. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

Two Premier League 'giants' will slug it out in a potentially decisive battle. Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi will be tasked with the responsibility of man-marking Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, the 6 ft 3in forward from Stoke City who complements his height with pace.

In the absence of Jacques Zoua, who played a withdrawn role behind the main striker during the AFCON triumph in Gabon, Broos is likely to deploy Choupo-Moting, a player more naturally suited for the job.

Ndidi, one of two defensive midfielders to be fielded by Rohr on the day, needs to track the run and movement of the man who will play in the 'hole' for Cameroon. Failure to do so will afford both Choupo-Moting and Aboubakar an easy linkup, an outcome which could be damaging on Nigeria's defence.

Elderson Echiejile vs. Christian Bassogog

Christian Bassogog embodies the Indomitable Lions' biggest threat moving forward, and he could be in for a profitable day against Elderson Echiejile, a player, who despite earning 53 international caps for Nigeria, has never really convinced his critics.

China-based Bassogog is a player blessed with stamina, skill, and pace, qualities he will fancy using to his advantage against left back Echiejile, who is not known to be the quickest defender, and often displaying poor positional sense.

John Mikel Obi vs. Sebastien Siani

John Mikel Obi has recovered just in time from a long injury layoff to make the Super Eagles squad for this game. The veteran captain has rolled back the years in recent outings for the Super Eagles, with Rohr preferring to utilise him as his most advanced midfielder in a three-man setup, a decision which saw him score in a FIFA World Cup qualifier against Algeria earlier this year.

His fitness level could be put to test when he comes up against Sebastien Siani, a hardworking midfielder who covers just about every blade of grass on the pitch. Mikel is a player renowned for his intelligence on the ball but not his mobility, and he could be in for a huge test against the 30-year-old KV Oostende man, who only made his international debut in 2015 against Nigeria, but has developed into the driving force in the Indomitable Lions midfield.

Odion Ighalo vs. Fabrice Ondoa

Striker Odion Ighalo has been handed an international lifeline as a result of his recent goal-scoring form in the Chinese Super League with Changchun Yatai. The Nigerian forward has good memories of facing Cameroon, netting the second of his three international goals against the Indomitable Lions in 2015.

He comes face-to-face with an inspired Fabrice Ondoa in goal for Cameroon, a young goalkeeper who is the latest in the line of successful Cameroonian shot-stoppers. A major weakness for Ondoa is his lack of height, and his questionable ball distribution could be his Achilles heel.

Ighalo needs to pressure the goalkeeper at every given opportunity, which could force him to make mistakes, and the striker must ensure he is clinical when presented with even half a chance.

And it has ended in Canakry.

Guinea 3-2 Libya.

Guinea led 2-0 up till the 87th minute when Libya pulled 1 back and made it 2-2 by 88minutes. Guinea scored the winner after stoppage time.

This same Libya are in our AFCON qualifiers group. From this game they are no pushovers. They eliminated Algeria on a 3-2 aggregate to qualify for CHAN.

Michael Babatunde was the preferred choice over Aluko. We also had Ramon Azeez as a creative midfielder. With Mikel in the side, we had the creative midfield locked. Babatunde raised eye brows but proved himself a good choice in the World Cup.

Ruben Gabriel was more of a central role. So I doubt Bribery was the issue Aluko lost his place. Aluko came back after the World Cup because of the injury of Babatunde. Not because he bribed his way in.

TheGoodJoe:

Michael Babatunde was the preferred choice over Aluko. We also had Ramon Azeez as a creative midfielder. With Mikel in the side, we had the creative midfield locked. Babatunde raised eye brows but proved himself a good choice in the World Cup.

Ruben Gabriel was more of a central role. So I doubt Bribery was the issue Aluko lost his place. Aluko came back after the World Cup because of the injury of Babatunde. Not because he bribed his way in.

so you think...Reuben Gabriel merited his place in that team? .likewise agbim an uchebo....?
abeg nor make me talk this evening oooo

blame your government... they requested for a letter from the FGN since what stopped them from preparing it since?
