Humility017: Ruben Gabriel did not take Aluko's place. There is no need bringing unrelated issues. The question is why was Aluko not invite. Answer was Babatunde and Azeez. Mikel could also play there. Aluko was a surplus. |

Eagles Training – Iheanacho Comes Top In Shooting Drills, Nwakeme, Ndidi & Ogu Impresses One of the major highlight of the Super Eagles training session which was held behind close door was the act of shooting, with the players coming up against the goalkeepers of the team. Leicester City newbie Kelechi Iheanacho came out top in terms of shooting with precision as almost all of his efforts settled in the back of the net despite minimal force, accuracy was his strength during thedrills. Hapoel Be’er Sheva Anthony Nwakaeme caught the eyes with his shooting as well, especially for the power his shooting carries which made it hard for the goalkeepers even though he didn’t get to score with most of his efforts. His club mate John Ogu also impressed with his customary left foot shots troubling the goalkeepers particularly Dele Alampasu, who although was impressive failed to keep out an unstoppable pile driver from Ogu during the drills. As expected Wilfred Ndidi made a positive impression as well with one of his ferocious strikes coming off the woodwork after the goalkeeper has been beaten in the shooting drills. Coach Gernot Rohr will be hoping theplayers maintain their sharpness ahead of tomorrow’s tie against Cameroon, which could determine the leadership of the group. http://owngoalnigeria.com/2017/08/31/eagles-training-iheanacho-comes-top-in-shooting-drills-nwakeme-ndidi-ogu-impresses/ 1 Like |

To me, it is not all about the tricks, it is also about the fruits of the tricks. If his tricks cannot result to creating good goal scoring chances, then I don't fancy the idea of him displacing other contestants in his position because of mere tricks. Moses Simon Could Start Against Cameroon After Dazzling Display In Close Door Session Gent of Belgium forward Moses Simon looks set to retain his starting spot in the line up of the senior national team of Nigeria when they take on Cameroon in tomorrow’s World Cup 2018 Qualifiers. Simon who started in the Super Eagles 0-2 loss to South Africa was one of the star performers in yesterday’s close door sessions according to details leaked to Owngoalnigeria.com. Rated as one of the few bright sparks for Nigeria in the loss to South Africa, the forward was once again favoured ahead of Ahmed Musa as he played with the probables on the left side of attack. His pace, tricks and dribbles made it hard for Tyrone Ebuehi who was up against him to stop him, and even Shehu Abdullahi when he was up against them during the drills. From yesterday’s close door drills he could start on the left while Chelsea’s Victor Moses will play on the right side of attack barring any last minute change of mind by coach Gernot Rohr. http://owngoalnigeria.com/2017/08/31/moses-simon-could-start-against-cameroon-after-dazzling-display-in-close-door-session/ 3 Likes 1 Share |

Outside Nigerian football topics. I am interested in seeing the development of Sancho who just left Manchester City. He got Dembele's Jersey and he is just 17. Keep in mind that Bosz who coaches Dortmund did an impressive job with teenage footballers last season with Ajax. 1 Like

TheGoodJoe:it will be nice to see Iheanacho play as an SS/AM as such position will afford him more shooting chances since he is good with shooting. Coaches should play to the strength of their players. |

Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc hailed Sancho as "one of the greatest talents in European football". He told his club's official website: "We are very pleased that Jadon Sancho, who is currently one of the greatest talents in European football, will definitely play at BVB. "We are convinced that we can help this very young player continue to develop his game and enrich our team in the medium term." Sancho scored five goals as England finished as runners-up at the UEFA Under-17 Championship this year and was named player of the tournament. 1 Like

edi287: Tega and Lookman are still possibilities with regards to Solanke I've never spoken to him so do not know. It's really about continous engagement and relationship. Our approach sucks to put it mildly. Your assumptions are wrong when these boys were relatively unknown why did we not engage with them. Our approach can be likened to long lost cousins who forgot and rejected you when alarm deh blow and nuttin deh hand. When you come begin blow, we say Ah my Bro. remember me oh. What would you do in those circumstances 3 Likes |

AIG07: I agree with you completely from the players selected. However, I have concerns about Ogu he is not fast and mobile enough and tends to be more defensive minded and doesn't offer an offensive threat. This will be a fast paced game and suspect he could be left behind in that regard Onazi gives us more. |

Never said there is no corruption. try to get my point. Let's not make it seem like every coach is involved. Many of these players are not even in the limelight. For example Aluko, you really have to personally keep tabs with him to know how he is faring in the Championship. Our coaches can always give good reasons for omitting certain players for others. It's hard to say it's always corruption. But in Keshi's time, it seemed glaring. komekn: |
