Most voters believed him to be the custodian of their trust hence they voted for him.

Most voters want peace, tranquillity, progress and economic discipline.

If the president thinks the polity is being overheated with brickbats and hateful commentry they have the backing of the electorate to deal with it.

If you do not think such a policy is useful and you would like for people to curse and create an environment of acrimony, at the next general election in 2019, you would be free to vote out this government.
