Compared to most genre, new age music is relatively unpopular in Nigeria but those with a fine eye for good music always find a way to source them..
I had my first sample of new age when yanni's "rite of passage" was used as the soundtrack for an Ad on TV... Since then I've been hooked... Most people only know the very popular new age artistes like Enya and only their most popular songs e.g Only time.

Vangelis (often credited as the "father of new age" has a style that many Nigerians may find hard to grasp. Save Chariots of Fire (an eternal classic), in my opinion a lot of Naija folks may find it difficult to really "understand" his music (no thanks to our kind of music which is commendable by the way).

I suggest you recommend relatively easier to grasp new age artiste's like Yanni and co. Imaging me recommending Aployptica to the average music listening Nigeria or Deep Forest (3 albums down the road). Even Enigma (3 albums down the road would pose a "musical maze" to a lot of folks!).

Quite true... It takes a trained ear to appreciate good new age music.... I've had people around me for years who simply refuse to understand the beauty of it.
But then again, some of them developed an aptitude for it after hearing me play new age songs... Unfortunately they tend to stick with the yanni and co never really taking it further...
