Morocco to Launch First Military Satellite in November

Rabat – Morocco will launch its first military satellite on November 8, 2017 . The kingdom had previously purchased two models of the ‘ Pleiades ’ type from France at an amount of 500 million EURo .

The launch of the satellite will take place in Kourou, French Guiana. An Italian-made satellite launcher will carry out the mission, reported menadefense.net.

Built in France, these observation satellites will be able to respond to civil and military needs and can take images with a resolution of 50 Cm.

The image control and reception station is located to the east of the Rabat airport in Morocco, added the news outlet.

alshabaab mining uranium to send to Iran, Somali official warns US ambassador

an Al Qaeda affiliate has seized control of uranium mines in Africa with the intent of supplying the material to Iran, according to a diplomatic letter from a top Somali official appealing to the U.S. for "immediate military assistance."

The letter, reviewed by Fox News, was addressed to U.S. Ambassador to Somalia Stephen Schwartz. Somalia's Ambassador to the U.S. Ahmed Awad confirmed to Fox News on Thursday that the letter "has indeed been issued" by Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Garaad Omar, whose signature is on the document.

The Aug. 11-dated letter delivered an urgent warning to the U.S. that the al-Shabaab terror network has linked up with the regional ISIS faction and is "capturing territory" in the central part of the country. do you know how flak works?
.
it works by laying down a string of air burst munitions at the most probably place an aerial target would pass through to achieve a high probability of success.

your 76 mm (unguided) employs such method which can only engage outdated missile.

however note that your source didnt state specifically that it can hit a missile... but it was citing an example. (using the flak method).

....,.............................
The high rate of fire of 120 rds/min [/b]and the range of 15 km provided by the Oto Melara SRGM makes it the perfect dual-role weapon which can engage surface and aerial targets with equal effectiveness.
.
..................................

aerial targets could be drones, helicopter, aircraft e.t.c so I'll wait till the manufacturers. announce that they have successful hit a missile with their guns.

.

AND BY THE WAY OUR SHIPS ARE ARMED WITH CHINESE COPY

Dude, go on YouTube and watch the oto. Malera engaging missiles with unguided shells.

Moreover your analysis is just good on paper. In a theory manner it doesn't make any sense.

we have to understand that theres no law on earth forcing us to acquire military weapon systems or platforms if we dont need it or deem it worthy to have. The fact that SA or Egypt or Algeria owns or operate better armanment than us doesn't mean we should come here and fabrication ludicrous claims on our invincibility or the grandiosity of our militaries technological dexterity.

Nobody is a fool here.

I have seen the most outlandish claim right here on this forum than anywhere else on the internet.

instead of pulling 'alleged facts' out of a magicians hat we could argue more on the merits of what we own and how we utilize what we own.

some people here make claims that can baffle the devil himself.

I like your post. Your IQ seems high enough to merit my comments. Let me add these points to your post;

1. Very few countries can successfully invade, conquer and sustain the conquest of another country in today's world. The US failed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Iraq was thrown out of Kuwait in less than three months. Russia was disgraced in Afghanistan.

2. However very many countries can destroy another via formenting internal crisis and promoting insurgencies, terrorism and low intensity conflicts. Qatar, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and believe it or not Israel and India are now leading sponsors of internal conflicts in other countries.

This is why buying heavy stocks of 4th / 4th generation++ combat aircraft versus advanced COIN aircraft is foolish.
I can understand large desert intensive countries like Algeria where large distances have to be traversed to destroy insurgent targets and to an extent Egypt with the large tract of space called the Sinai but even then, both countries are overdoing things and merely enriching French, UK and US companies.

Nigeria should not get more than one (1)squadron each of JF17 and SU 3x or MIG 29. 12 aircraft of each. Just like S. Africa. We however need 100 Super Tucano and helicopters to police the ground for internal security cover.

solve this one

variables/parameters

a sea skimming sub sonic missile flying at 5-10 m above sea level will be detected at < 40km due to radio horizon limitations by surveillance radar.

(provided the radar manages to pick it up against clutter / the radar operator manages to isolate it on the radar screen)

the fire control radar to which the AK 176 gun is slaved to has range of 6km for .1m2 RCS target

AK 176 gun derivative has a range of 11-15km with rate of fire of 60-120 rounds per minute
ammo load out 150+

under test conditions AK 176 needed 25 rounds to shoot a AT-2 Swatter ATGM stimulating a subsonic AShM.

(neglect the other guns for the sake of simplicity of solution)

the subsonic missile speed is .9mach ie 1076 km/hr

how much time does the ship has to engage the incoming target at the farthest engagement envelope possible via its sensor ie how many rounds can it fire with reasonable accuracy with the help of fire control radar before impact ?

surveillance radar warning will only help the ship to prepare itself/brace up for battle damage ie all hands on station alert plus simultaneously provide optimal evasive maneuvers, in tandem with best possible decoy launch and defensive weapon fire solutions via CMS .

the task of hard kill will lie on the FCR and the main gun firing PFHE type munitions

and the task of soft kill will lie on the CMS and decoy launchers.

so how many rounds can it get off for highest probability of kill ? grin

No wahala. Just u might wait for me to have time for lengthy discourse. Shouldn´t have been necessary but i already know its hard for some to decipher points raised. By now u should know i chose my words carefully. I never said Covertte but NNS Unity And Centenary vis-avis a Frigate. I stand by that. Its a fact. Without missiles weapons packages those warships still can conduct anti-air, ASW and anti-surface warfare effectively. They are currently among the most modern warships in this region, i´ve checked my facts again. Its sensors and radar guidance systems are top-notch. The Admirals who tout it know more than any of you disputing my postulations. Count my words carefully before you respond. Cos of time i´ll put up a vid so you analyse its competence short of missile systems.

In this live fire demonstration of one of the world´s most modern frigates we see validation of my points that the 76mm Guns are the primary weapons of a Warship. Along with the 35mm CIWS, heavy artillery guns are very effective for self-defence against incoming projectiles or aircraft. Multiple times we see in this vid incoming threats of missiles neutralised by the meduim range guns. In fact the experienced captain said with emphasis when the 76mm gun broke down and I quote "I have my missiles...but I need the meduim range gun". For those who think submarines are invincible, well again I´ve been validated - when the captain went blind all he did was to drop a torpedo in the water and the sub was scared away (who wants to die lol). Did I say they are threats but still prey to surface ships. An Admiral told you he can project powers, he sure knows what he´s talking about. Again, NNS Centenary and Unity can project measurable force and defend itself effectively.
