Why was moses goal from the free kick ruled offside.?? . Didn't touch anybody before it went into the net

Ighalo attacked the ball and he was offside.

Thank you for mentioning this sir... I have stated this in my report and it is very important indeed.

Mikel's heir needs to begin his apprenticeship now. Time to begin the grooming.

Kelechi Nwakali who just joined VVV Venlo in the Dutch Eredivisie on loan on deadline day is a solid option as Mikel's heir. They may yet be others so I won't limit it to Nwakali alone... but beautiful observation.

On Mikel Agu... he showed good potential and calm and I was kinda impressed with his touches. Will rate him more when he features under the pressure and intensity of actually starting a competitive game for us.

semid4lyfe:
Mikel Agu showed some flashes today but I wasn't much impressed.

I still consider Kelechi Nwakali to be Mikel's long time replacement. The sooner he's brought into the team to start bonding & understudying Mikel the better.

When a player in an offside position interferes with or attempt to interfere with the flow of play .... and a goal results from such scenario....then it is offside... that is the rule.

Ighalo was offside before the ball was even hit... and his going for that header interfered with play and disrupted Ondoa's focus on the ball hence the ball went in...

So Ighalo was offside and the goal had to be cancelled.

Iheanacho.

I have to start on a bad note. Looks overweight to me. I wonder if he is eating right and training hard. Nacho needs to understand that a lot of expectations rest in him. I hope he takes his career seriously. His first love should be football. It has brought him fame, success and great opportunities. He needs to show football loyalty and love.

Too early to rely just on his talent. It is time to move beyond positioning and finishing. Nacho needs to work harder on the training pitch and eat right. Speed and stamina is a big part of top class finishers.

Good side of today was his awareness in working with his teammates. That was nice to see. Made nice runs but could not deal with the pace of the Camerounians. Pressed well but lacked the stamina to press for long length with intensity.

Needs to work on his tricks. A big part of dealing with pressure.

However, the talent showed with his decision making, positioning, awareness, intelligence to drop deep and support build up. Sad Moses did not return the pass instead of going for the cheap.

Capped an okay performance with a well taking goal.
Can we attribute his overweight to his departure from Pep Guardiola's drills at Man City?

Mikel definitely provided stability and experience to the team. I won't mind seeing him in the number 10 role for the Super Eagles. He has definitely earned it. My men of the match today:

Leon Balogun
Victor Moses
John Obi Mikel
Take your pick.

And let me be for the first to predict that Leon Balogun is a future Super Eagles captain. Go write it down!

This right here is the next line of our discussions.... we should focus on sound and quality Super Backups as solid as our first XI. Starting with Mikel's position... then ofcos.. we can talk RB and LB...

Jordan Torunarigha is being benched at Hertha Berlin by a young German called Plattenhardt who featured at the FIFA condeds cup for the Triumphant German machines led By Draxler... that guy is Germany's future in the left back position...

Although Torunarigha can also play CB... but LB is his major.

We should have our eyes on him as Echiejile's deputy and successor... thank God we have Ola Aina in the bag for our RB spot with Ebuehi to challenge also... with utility Shehu still providing his experienced cover...

More talks on this as days turn into weeks... smiley

Joebie:
I think what we need to work on now is getting a bench as solid as our starters. And of course great options in the LB, RB and GK departments. If we can do these right now, we will be ready for Russia even tommorrow.

Sir Icon4s The Arch Guardian of Experience(as the supernerd often says). TheExperience of Leon Balogun at the heart of defence, the mastery of Mikel, the class of victor Moses and the physicality of Ighalo was what made the deference.

Your knowledge of the game no be hear.

These were players we missed against SA.

Some people almost called for the Return Of Kanu Nwankwo, Okocha, Oliseh even late Yekini.

Well our Experienced players are back and our team is back on track.

You just read my mind. But Toru could rise to our first choice LB in no time just as there was talk of Ola starting today but for the delay..

I think Agu is good for that solid bench (if not ahead of Onazi)

Iheanacho is good as a super sub (if not a starter)

The rest players in bench still have a lot to prove that they are as good as our starters

He is the Midfield don and Generalissimo indeed.... take a bow for your world class performance today Mikel.... #salutes

TheGoodJoe:
Don Baba Odogwu Mikel Obi. That was a midfield masterclass. His control and quick decision making made the midfield balanced and potent in creating attacks. His unbelievable vision and quick decision to release the ball to Ighalo was the icebreaker. I was stunned and today we saw why the World missed one of the great artist of football because he did not have a career as a creative player.

He also lead with grace and was a loud voice for the team. Giving the referee the confidence to book the two central defenders of the Camerounians. This nullified their extreme harsh play on Ighalo and gave the brave striker the room to attack at will.

My brother I tend to stay away from any argument wey no de add value e.g. Iheanacho vs Ighalo, training drill vs game day. How e take epp Naija. Glad for the win. I said it that Naija would win based in the time we played them. Had it been we played them in February or 2 weeks after confeds e for hard us. But any time span more than 2 months resets a team's chemistry.

A win in a Yaounde and a Zambia and Algeria draw over 2 legs 2ould make Naija the 5th team to qualify for Russia. Can't wait.

First of all, a big shout out to Icon4s. His confidence that we could give the Camerounians a physical match was very correct. So impressed. He believed if the Camerounians wanted to fight, we should fight them and it worked perfectly. I throway Salute.

Chairman I hail o.

At a point I was beginning to wonder if this was the first time we are playing Cameroon.

I knew we could match them physically so we needed to outwit them in other areas like pace, sleek and quick passes and that worked perfectly.

I initially wanted 3 points from this tie. But now I want more than that.
I say we go do a double in Cameroon! We could seal qualification on Monday if Zambia and Algeria play a draw tomorrow.

I am glad both Ighalo and Iheanacho scored. They scored vital goals to save their national team careers.

It has been reaffirmed today that the spin of this team is Balogun-Mikel-Moses.

Let me say this, and I hope u guys don't misunderstand me. I'm quite uncomfortable with Mikel saying if we keep playing like this we can beat any team in Africa. I think that he is bringing in his personality here -- settling for a decent height of achievement. I'm hoping he is aiming higher in his mind in respect to leading the team but just trying to sound humble. We need to start thinking we can win the World Cup. That should be our mindset, though we need not be arrogant about it. And that should be our mindset even outside football.

Guys do you know I dreamt we won this game 4-0?

I had the dream last Saturday night/Sunday morning . In that dream I recall two goal scorers: Iwobi and Victor Moses. Moses scored the 4th goal while Iwobi scored the 3rd. It was as if we were already leading 2-0 before I joined.

The only person I told the dream was my wife.

Why I disregarded the dream was when Iwobi did not make Arsenal match day squad against Liverpool due to injury and his subsequent withdrawal due to injury.

I couldn't share it here just for the fear of in case it doesn't turn out that way.

I am really glad we won big tonight.

Don't worry Sir Joebie... I understand what you mean. But relax... Mikel was even being modest with his choice of words.

Ofcos he aspires to something greater. Remember how passionately he took the Olympics and wanted Gold by all means and played Hus heart out. That was an international competition.

By saying what he says about beating any team in Africa... he is only being modest and hiding hia truest deepest intent...

Mikel targets The World stage. He knows this team can compete with the best in the world if we can just keep growing strongly and maintaining the right flow of growth and understanding as a team.
