Good day all....
I'm a mother of 3 and married too.im currently waiting for my admission into my schools of choice. My question is can I apply for my visa once my admission is secured with my 3kids?
Your opinions and views are needed.
Thank you

it will be very difficult to take care of 3 kids alone while studying . also based on their ages they cannt be left home alone and school scheduled can be hectic ...that been said i want to clarify one thing

A child in F2 status is allowed to attend up to highschool/secondary school level . meaning if you choose for an F2 dependent child or children to attend public school and for free that is fine and legally allowed .

i am sure about this as i have a couple of friends with kids

Good response that is void of insults.

Conflating truth with "insults" is a false equivalence.

Please what is referred here as servis fee? Am a bit lost with that term

A fee you have to pay before you go for visa interview. All international students entering the US for studies must pay the fee. It's worth $210.

Look, there are agents in the US as well. They also procure Nigerian visas for Americans and other foreign nationals.

Sometimes, you don't have to insult someone's business whether right or wrong. But politely say a few words, he or she would understand a lot better.

Bolded was a little funny cheesy

Typically you don't pay tuition before you travel. A couple of schools have been noted to require tuition deposits from international students before arrival. Note though that it's important to have enough financial backup because you will spend. I don't want to read further meaning into that question.
Get your transcript and plan to write TOEFL. if you dig deep though you will find a handful of schools that will exempt Nigeria from TOEFL. But it's better for you to write it.
Nobody will guide you better than you can guide yourself. Use this thread and use Google. Best of luck.

Please I need to ask if its possible for a political science graduate to study computer science or any related technological course in masters given the fact that the person is a programmer who had done quite a number of projects in the web and artificial intelligence (machine learning) and has a very attractive portfolio.

Yes because you have done some work in IT (Web and AI). Prepare to have something for the VOs to convince them that your masters program is not your first time to switch to IT. Once big switches like this is spotted, the 'why the switch' question will definitely come.

What tools do you use in your Machine Learning?

Okay, so I'll just jump in with some oversight here.

In this 21st century, the tacit rule of any decent conversation is to NOT pose questions that could be answered by a google search in less than 0.0005 seconds.

Instead of:
"I finished with a CGPA of 2.8 , does that matter ?"
What you wanna ask is:
"I've done this, this and that - do you think these can make up for my GPA; how do I highlight my strengths?"

I've found this thread very incisive especially because of the people who come here to share their experiences, opinions, and answer decent questions - even when they do not have to. They put in a lot of effort to address people concerns and worries; it only makes sense that we - as "I nquisitioners" - also put WELL THOUGHT OUT QUESTIONS on here so that we are not repelling.

Maybe before we put questions up, we want to ask: "can this question be answered by google or bing?"

Put up questions that are nuanced and situational, not just bland ones.

hello everyone, please i need an experienced person whom processed his/her admission personally to clear this curiosity from my mind on satisfying the proof of financial statement required by most schools in the US during admission process for international students.
can someone who has a closing balance of 2M which is not close to the required closing balance of $20,000 for community college and $41,000 for most university secure admission?

You're preaching to the choir. 98% of the folks here aren't interested in learning, other than using it as a means to immigrate. The real serious students already started classes this week... those students knew what cgpa score would give them the best chance at a US education and worked hard to achieve it. So don't be surprised at the frankly absurd questions asked here. It's not a stretch to think that someone with a cgpa of 2.8/5 isn't someone who is used to serious research. Most here are a product of the "handout" system of education in Nigerian universities.

This question is neither here nor there. You have three options:

1. Have enough money to fund your education
2. Get a scholarship
3. Stay home and go to school in Nigeria.

Everything you need is on this thread. Oya take this:

@femi312 gave us this:
There is this saying that says ''If we don't fight we have failed, but if we fight we can either fail or succeed''. So forget the tuition part for now and put in some work. First, you need to decide on the course you want to study, To save you some stress start from this website http://graddecision.org/ to know the application process, So step 1) Decide on the course you want to study 2) Search for schools using a)www.msinus.com (open this website with a laptop, you should see a list of school and ranking for some of the most common courses, you can start from there b)www.gradschools.com c)www.google.com (you can just type 'msc in bla bla in the us in google' d) www.usnews.com e) www.4icu.org . 3) check up the website of the schools you find, to see the requirements. most schools will require GRE and some will require both gre and toefl . 4) Register for standardize exam and take it. You can register for gre as soon as you are ready and prepared to take the exam. Its done online at www.ets.org. You can also get all the information you need about the exam on the website. You will get adequate materials to prepare for the exam in this dropbox I created https://www.dropbox.com/sh/t9ot6d07hp1lkm7/AADL_dTihjEvNBRCBsmAcoXja?dl=0

TOEFL is an English test required by some US universities. though, some schools waive due to the fact that Nigeria is an Anglophone country.
For toefl, all you need are the speaking noteful videos in the link below, the ets toefl guide is enough to ace the exam for other sections. Just download the toefl ETS Guide from there website and the simulation test.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/45tvc3ifi8wh8sh/AACXR5j6l3nsWK8vZx5P28TVa?dl=0

As for the Tuition, if you have good results (GRE, GPA, Toefl), SOP and LOR; US schools do offer assistanship to graduate students. This can either be Research Assistant, Teaching Assistant or Administrative Assistant. Depending on the school, if you get an assistantship, your Tuition will be waived and you will also be paid a monthly stipend that can take care of your living expenses. One advice, once you shortlist schools, send emails to the grad cord of the schools and ask specific questions relating to that course and funding opportunities, be very explicit.

Lastly, there are basically 2 admission session in the US, Spring (Jan) and Fall (August). Schools admit more students in Fall, so Its advisable you plan towards Fall 2018. If you plan to resume in fall 2018, make sure you submit all your application documents before ending of Dec 2017. If you don't give it a trial, you will never know.My philosophy in life is to always do my part, with that I don't get to regret later. Above all, if you believe in God,pray to him..if not, good for you.

If you have any question, drop it here and you should get more than one good answer.
God bless you Falmos,I really do appreciate.

Careful. If you plan to defer from Spring to Fall, then your I-20 needs to be updated by your school to show your are coming by fall '18. Otherwise, your time of entry which is stated on your I-20 would have expired and you will begin to have issues with Customs and Border Protection.
Thanks for your reply. What I really want to know is if I'll need to go for another visa interview after collecting the new i-20 since I'll be differing from Spring to fall semester. I really need your reply ASAP so I don't make a terrible mistake. Thanks.

You don't need a new visa. You just need an updated I-20 showing your start date for Fall 2018 so you won't have issues with CBP

Honestly, opening or closing balances have nothing to do with securing admission undecided. Securing admission have everything to do with your GPA, GRE/GMAT and TOEFL Test scores, LOR and SOP.

If you are thinking about bank statement to show during your visa interview for unfunded admission, then you will have to show something more substantial than 2M.
