Rohr – If Ighalo Cannot Play, We Have Nwakaeme Or Iheanacho Ready To Step In Odion Ighalo who scored Nigeria’s first goal in their 4-0 thrashing of Cameroon on Friday is in a race to be fit for today’s reverse fixture in Yaounde due to a suspected hamstring issue. Ighalo who limped out of the game against Cameroon trained with the rest of his squad yesterday, but according to coach Gernot Rohr, a decision on his availability for today’s game will be made later today. The coach who said he would have loved to field same line up like the one that defeated Cameroon on Friday was quick to point out the possibilities of playing new players due to doubts surrounding the fitness of some players after Friday’s game. “We know that to take revenge (for Cameroon) is normal and natural because they play at home and have their families and they got a slap on Friday. We expect Cameroon to start well and we know they are a physical team but we are ready physically also to have a big fight him.” “I would like to use the same lineup (for Friday’s match) on Monday but there is a little problem with Ighalo – with his leg. We don’t want to take any risks and there is also a possibility of bringing in fresh players. That is why we will only decide on Monday morning.” Rohr said after yesterday’s close door training session. “If he (Ighalo) cannot play, we will decide in the last moment , at the moment we have two possibilities. We have Kelechi (Iheanacho) and we have Anthony (Nwakaeme) so we have two centre forwards who are ready to play for him.” Patrick Joel http://owngoalnigeria.com/2017/09/04/rohr-if-ighalo-cannot-play-we-have-nwakaeme-or-iheanacho-ready-to-step-in/ 1 Like |

Awaziem Could Start Against Cameroon If Leon Balogun Fails Late Fitness Test – Rohr Hints On loan FC Porto defender Chidozie Awaziem is in line to start for Nigeria alongside William Troost-Ekong in central defence, Leon Balogun fails a late fitness test. Coach Gernot Rohr confirmed doubts surrounds the availability of the Mainz 05 defender as he picked up a knock in Friday’s 4-0 win over Cameroon in Uyo. Balogun according to Rohr trained normally with the rest of the squad during their close door session in Yaounde ahead of today’s game, but his participation in today’s game is still in doubt unless he scales through a late fitness test. “We have two injury worries. Odion Ighalo and Leon Balogun are nursing injuries from the game on Friday. They trained and tried to shake it off, but I will observe them till tomorrow to decide if they would be available for selection.” Rohr stated. If Balogun fails to make the game, Awaziem who presently plays for French Ligue 1 side Nantes will fill in for him alongside Troost-Ekong, a pairing which won’t inspire confidence in Nigerians as their last outing as a pair ended in Nigeria losing 0-2 to South Africa in the AFCON 2019 Qualifiers. TheSuperNerd: Couldn't respond the other day because man was very down even till date. Thanks for your concern. You are right on point about Solanke, in addition, he is also good in the air. I think our qualification to the world cup should serve as an agent of luring them to play in the world cup, but if Solanke and Abraham still dream of golden era where there's none, I fear dey will prefer England. However, this is where Pinnick has to come in to personally talk to them about the benefits of lacing for the Super Eagles. Anyway, I hope he does well because we have a lots of players in line for the number 9 shirt this season playing in top league. In LA Liga, we have Kayode and Ideye, EPL; Iheanacho(though I see him more a SS and Atm than S but where he plays this season in his club will determine where he's suited for the Super Eagles), Abraham and Solanke, Bundusliga; Osimhen, Seria A; Simeon and Sadiq, Belgium pro league; Onyekuru, Awoniyi and Olayinka, Eredivisie; Dessers, and the Chinko league; Ighalo, Martins and Ujah. those in other leagues are welcome provided they perform exceptionally well. I hope these players all do very to give us many options to choose from. |

Looolll.... you and Martins eh.... Hahahahahahahahaha.... Anyway, he is still the player known as the WMD.... The original Weapon of mass destruction. You right Egbon.... We got plethora of striking talents that will have a full season before the world cup next year so that will serve as a major guide into knowing who else to consider ahead of the World cup in the striking dept. Battle will be fierce for shirts I tell you.... About Solanke... and other foreign borns... well we hope. Pinnick seems to be on Tammy's case... but Solanke.. well... time will tell. And biko Forgiveness.... maybe you should try see a doc close to your area... if this persists I advise you should not rely on just self medication biko. I could ask what is wrong but I understand not all things are to be discussed publicly but plsss find yourself back... plsss. Be well okay..... be well for us. Exclusive – Shehu Abdullahi Retains Starting Spot, Aina Likely To Be Sub In For Echiejile Anorthosis Famagusta defender Shehu Abdullahi will start at right back against Cameroon later this evening, despite FIFA giving on loan Chelsea defender Ola Aina the all clear to play for Nigeria. On loan Hull City defender Aina missed Nigeria’s last game against Cameroon which they won 4-0 as his international clearance after a switch of allegiance was yet to be ratified by FIFA. Abdullahi started and lasted the entire duration of the game, and his performance has earned him a starting spot tonight despite the availability of Aina. ” Shehu Abdullahi will start at right back. No change in that regard, if Aina is to play today he will most likely be brought on for Elderson Echiejile based on what we gathered from their close door training session last night”, a team source told Owngoalnigeria.com. ” Coach Gernot Rohr has no plans of changing his line up for today’s game. There’s every chance of playing same team like the one in Uyo despite the knocks currently being carried by Leon Balogun and Odion Ighalo”. SUPER EAGLES MUST REPLICATE 'MENTALITY' IN CAMEROON, URGES MUTIU ADEPOJU By Samuel Ahmadu The ex-international hailed the display of Rohr's men in Uyo, and is upbeat they can do the double over Broos' side if they maintain their blueprint Mutiu Adepoju believes the Super Eagles can defeat Cameroon in the second leg of their 2018 Fifa World Cup Qualifying clash against Cameroon on Monday. Gernot Rohr's will take on the Indomitable Lions at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium, Yaoundé, three days after defeating them 4-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium. And the former midfielder has urged the players to prove the first leg triumph over the African champions was no fluke by reproducing the first leg's 'mentality and rhythm'. "It was a massive win against Cameroon last Friday and a great performance from the players," Adepoju told Goal. "In the beginning of the game, the Cameroonians came out strong and trying to impose their physicality on the Super Eagles and mounting pressure too. But when the Super Eagles got the rhythm and composure, they began tormenting the Cameroonians. "I think Odion Ighalo did a great job and was a good choice to start because he was very physical and we could see in the first goal he scored how he was going very strong on the defenders with Victor Moses alongside Moses Simon on the wings," he continued. "Compared with the South Africa match, the introduction of Leon Balogun in the defense made it stronger and return of Victor Moses and John Mikel Obi made a great difference against Cameroon. I believe it was a massive win and gives them a huge confidence boost going to Cameroon. "Nobody expected the result in Uyo and it could have been more than four goals if we had got many of our chances behind the net. It shows if they play as a team and do things right, they can defeat anybody. "I don't believe it was a one-off show after just winning a game. I also don't think they should feel like they've arrived but if they can replicate that mentality and rhythm, I see them picking all the three points in Yaoundé," he concluded. Today's game must be played with good temperament. Everyone in the team must know this. Our players should and must keep their cool. Cameroon will definitely provoke them to retaliate. It will be a bruising game but am happy about the referee and more so hayatou is no longer on seat. We pray for both the physical and spiritual to work in sync as it happened in Uyo. I see us qualifying today with an odd goal. 3 Likes |

forgiveness: Unfortunately Solanke has caused problems for Osimhen inadvertently by taking out Divock Origi from Liverpool fc who is now at Wolfsburg on loan. Osimhen is still essentially a youth player yet to play a season of competitive football. The only basis for invitation is when you have proven yourself at club level. Consider Aina only a few games in the Championship and has been placed three times in the championship team of the week as best RB. I am excited to see Nwakeme he has proven himself at club level albeit it a weak league. Nonetheless, I want to see him cut it at this level. Before we can really decide how good he is. 2 Likes |

@bolded.... you funny I swear.... Hahahahahahahahaha.... Well shaa.... who performs well going to the world cup definitely plus a few other factors in decision making. For instance if Onuachu bangs in 35goals in Denmark and Kayode bangs in 20 in Spain and Ighalo bangs in 17 in China... and they are all battling for two spots... who should the coach take to the mundial? So I don't think it is entirely down 100% to who scores more.... team chemistry must be taken into consideration. And I am glad to hear you have seen a doc... abeg take your medications as at when due. Don't skip them no matter how weak you are okay... you will be fine. And come on, you are stronger than you portray here.... The Forgiveness I know is not intimated by anyone and never backs down from a fight... now apply same with this illness okay... you will be fine. Be Strong Egbon. It is well. forgiveness: 1 Like |

Why We May Lose To Nigeria Again – Cameroon Star By Nurudeen Obalola in Yaounde Indomitable Lions of Cameroon midfielder Sebastien Siani has attributed the reason for his country’s 4-0 loss to Nigeria in last Friday’s World Cup qualifying game in Uyo to a lack of collective will by the players as each was trying to play for himself and reckons that they stand a risk of losing Monday’s return leg at the Stade Ahmadou Ahidjo in Yaounde. According to reports monitored from cameroon-info.net, the KV Ostende of Belgium player had harsh words for his teammates even as the Lions prepare to face the Super Eagles in the return leg in Yaounde on Monday evening. “We could not manage the game. It is a collective defeat. That allowed us to recognize our level. Today as long as we are not united, we can not play well to win. Against Nigeria, we did not play at our optimal level. Everyone played for himself and it was not to our disadvantage. It is important that we play collectively. We were not good enough in Nigeria and everyone is aware of what happened,” he said. The Indomitable Lions face the Super Eagles with almost no hope of making it to Russia 2018 World Cup but Hugo Broos’ team will play for pride and attempt to end the World Cup qualifiers on a high note. Broos: Lions Have To Stop Mikel, Moses, Ighalo, Balogun In Yaounde By Nurudeen Obalola in Yaounde Cameroon coach Hugo Broos has identified the players he will be looking to stop when his team face Nigeria here in Yaounde tonight, Completesportsnigeria.com reports. The Indomitable Lions host the Super Eagles at the Stade Omnisport Ahmadou Ahidjo from 6pm tonight, three days after they lost 4-0 to the Nigerians in Uyo in the first leg of their Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers double-header. Broos named five Super Eagles players, one of whom is a major doubt for tonight’s fixture. “The whole Nigerian team played well on Friday, all the players made a great impression,” Broos told Completesportsnigeria.com. “Your No.9 (Odion Ighalo, who is a doubt after sustaining an injury on Friday) is very strong and we have to watch him. Mikel was very good in midfield and he launched some great counter-attacks with his good passing. “Victor Moses was brilliant and your centre-backs (Leon Balogun and William Troost-Ekong) are very strong, we struggled to get past them. But on Monday, we’ll not be as poor as we were on Friday, we’ll find ways to stop your best players.” Broos is confident his side will restore some pride with a win. He added: “If we play to our level, like we always do at home, we can beat any team. “The entire team was poor on Friday but that won’t happen again.” Source: https://www.completesportsnigeria.com/broos-lions-stop-mikel-moses-ighalo-balogun-yaounde/ |

Cameroon Coach Broos: Forget World Cup, We Can Win AFCON Again By Nurudeen Obalola in Yaounde Following his team’s failure to reach the 2018 World Cup following last Friday’s 4-0 loss to Nigeria, coach of Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions Hugo Broos has appealed to Cameroonians to look forward to a successful defence of the African Cup of Nations which they are to host after winning in Gabon. “I think we probably will not be in Russia next year. But after this World Cup, there will be AFCON 2019. We must prepare well for the AFCON. Hopefully, despite all the problems, that this AFCON will take place in this country. I believe that there is nothing more beautiful than to become a second African champion in his own country,” he said on Sunday at a press conference ahead of Monday’s return fixture against Nigeria. Speculations raged in the aftermath of last Friday’s huge loss in Nigeria that he’s thrown in the towel but Broos has indicated that he wishes to stay in Cameroon at least until the next African Cup of Nations that Cameroon organizes in 2019. “If it was up to me, I will stay in Cameroon. I am an ambitious person. There is no one in the world who has achieved all his projects.” The Belgian made a glowing report of his time on the Cameroon job and gave himself a passmark. He said: “When I arrived in Cameroon, I said that we must at all costs participate in the AFCON (2017 edition). We did it. Afterwards, I said that we must absolutely pass the first round: we did it. And we even did a little more; because we won the AFCON “. On assumption, Broos had two missions. The first was to qualify and lead the national team to the semifinals of the African Cup of Nations 2017. The Belgian technician went a step better by leading the Lions to their fifth AFCON title in Gabon. The second mission, to qualify the Cameroonian team for the next World Cup in Russia, has gone up in flames. Going into Monday’s game, Cameroon sit in third place with two points behind Zambia on four points and group leaders Nigeria on nine maximum points. komekn: How did Solanke take out Origi? Best of my knowledge, the starting forwards of Liverpool were Sane, Salah and Firmino. Sturridge to me is still ahead of Solanke. Coutinho also plays the forward line. Last season, Origi found it difficult breaking into the first Eleven with Firmino, Coutinho and Mane being the preferred starters. So I do not get how Solanke pushed Origi out. |

Exclusive – Rohr Names Same Starting Line Up For Tonight’s Game Against Cameroon Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has named the same line up that defeated Cameroon 4-0 in Uyo for today’s reverse tie in Yaounde, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal. They were doubts over the the availability of top defender Leon Balogun and striker Odion Ighalo but both players have been listed for action for tonight’s game in Yaounde. Goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa will start in goal, with a back four of Shehu Abdullahi, Elderson Echiejile, Leon Balogun and William Troost-Ekong playing in front of him. The midfield still remains the same trio of Ogenyi Onazi, John Obi Mikel and Wilfred Ndidi while Moses Simon, Victor Moses and Odion Ighalo will continue their link up in attack. Starting Line Up: Ikechukwu Ezenwa (GK) Shehu Abdullahi Elderson Echiejile Leon Balogun William Troost-Ekong Wilfred Ndidi Ogenyi Onazi Mikel Obi Moses Simon Victor Moses Odion Ighalo **Osas Mahawi P.S: All these talks of Balogun and Ighalo likely to sit the game out may be part of little mind games here... lol... But it is good to know they both passed late fitness tests... Nothing official from the NFF and NGSuper Eagles twitter handles though... but this is likely the lineup.
