komekn: Aluko is another good option. But age is not also on his side. But at least he can hold forth till the younger lads are fully ready. |

PDPGuy: All through this African qualifiers I never saw the goal keeping department as much of an issue. I believed our problems lied more with the outfield field players especially that SA game. However, our goalkeeper trainers need to do more on the goal keepers we have now. Thank God for Ezenwa's good showing. But bros within me, I know say that guy fit chop 4 against a grade A opposition. As for Enyeama and thoughts of Ikeme being back before the World cup, I'll say it is better we plan based on what we have on ground now. |

'I STILL WANT TO PLAY TILL GOD KNOWS WHEN' - MIKEL NOT THINKING ABOUT RETIREMENT By Shina Oludare in Yaounde @sportingshina The Tianjin TEDA midfielder insists he has no desire to hang up his boots just yet and has set his sights on playing in 2018 World Cup Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel discloses he has no immediate plans to retire from football. The former Chelsea star is recognised by many as the most decorated Nigerian footballer of his generation and has won numerous honours throughout his career to date. Mikel, who has won Uefa Champions League, Europa League, English Premier League, FA Cup and African Cup of Nations, was on parade as Cameroon forced Nigeria to a 1-1 draw in Yaounde and hopes for his second Fifa World Cup appearance next year. And when asked whether the time has come for him to start contemplating hanging up his boots, the Tianjin TEDA player stated such thoughts couldn't be further away from his mind right now. “I’m 30 years old and still have a long way to go and I still want to play till God knows when,” he told media in Yaounde. “But now, I’m not thinking about retirement. I just came back from a very bad injury and now I’m back and finding my way to the field of play. Fitness wise it’s difficult but I am here to help the team.” “The World Cup is a big tournament, I’ve played one before and to go to the second one is amazing,” he continued. “We have a good and a very young team, but we’re not there yet. We were almost there today because if we got three points, it would have been finished. “But we are happy with one point but honestly, we still need about one or two points to make.” Source: http://www.goal.com/en-ng/news/john-obi-mikel-not-thinking-about-retirement/1h4ymyr4n2ww51ux1yobhmm0md 3 Likes |

Thanks to our boys and the technical staff for sticking to their tactics to secure these four points in the double header against the Lions of Cameroun. Great coaches are always cautious of their approaches to games hence, sometimes u win dirty. That was the game plan but it didn't quite work out. That said, without any injury concern, this is what our next list should look like, come September. Goalkeepers ; Ikechukwu Ezenwa (FC IfeanyiUbah); Dele Alampasu (Cesarense FC, Portugal); Daniel Akpeyi (Chippa United) Defenders: William Ekong (Bursaspor FC, Turkey); Abdullahi Shehu (Anorthosis Famagusta, Cyprus); Leon Balogun (FSV Mainz 05, Germany); Tyronne Ebuehi (ADO Den Haag, The Netherlands); Elderson Echiejile (Sivasspor FC, Turkey); Chidozie Awaziem (Nantes FC, France); Ola Aina (Hull City, England) Midfielders: Mikel John Obi (Tianjin Teda, China); Ogenyi Onazi (Trabzonspor FC, Turkey); Wilfred Ndidi (Leicester City, England); Oghenekaro Etebo (CD Feirense, Portugal); John Ogu (Hapoel Be’er Sheva, Israel); Joel Obi Chukwuma (Torino Italy) Forwards: Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City, England); Moses Simon (KAA Gent, Belgium); Alex Iwobi (Arsenal FC, England); Odion Ighalo (Chang Chun-Yatai, China); Victor Moses (Chelsea FC, England); Henry Onyekuru (Anderlecht Belgium) ; Olanrewaju Kayode (Girona Spain) STANDBY: Uche Agbo (Standard Liege, Belgium); Kenneth Omeruo (Kasimpasa turkey); Noah Joel Sareren Bazee (Hannover Germany); Omatsone Aluko(Reading England); Azubike Okechukwu (yenimeylaspor turkey); Anthony Nwakaeme (Hapoel Sheva, Israel) ; Peter Olayinka (Zulte waregem belgium) ;Nura Abdullahi (Roma Italy) ;Mikel Agu (bursaspor turkey). Ahmed Musa (Leicester City, England); Musa to the standby list while kayode takes his place on the main list. Mikel Agu to the standby list to create space for Joel Obi on the main list The trio of Stephen Eze, Aaron Samuel, ALHASSAN IBRAHIM should make way for Sone Aluko, Azubike Okey, Sareren Bazee, Peter Olayinka on the standby list. 4 Likes |

Kog45: I think we are starting to agree on a lot of things. First I think we can manage Onazi-Ndidi only when Mikel is playing. But when Mikel is subbed we need to look for a lasting solution, maybe Iwobi but I don't see Iwobi as a bench piece and Iwobi too cannot last for more than 70minutes so we can't say that he will come into the middle when Mikel leaves, Ogu is the only person on our bench who I THINK can hold his own. Agu is not the main deal at all. The less said about Echejile the better. If Shehu can play with his left leg then I would say goodbye to him. Azpi is right footed but he used to be a leftback, so that wouldn't be new. Our keeper, I thought he was ok, until I watched that match again. That ball they almost scored was a very cheap shot which he should be saving all day long but somehow the ball rolled under him, we were just like that his body atleast deflected it away from the goal. And he did drop one or two crosses, and with Enyeama coming back into the fold and Nwokolo getting a look-in, I think he is too old to be the third choice at the world cup and he isn't exactly a good gk so I will take Alampasu. Our next game is next month though, I doubt Enyeama will be back so he will stay for now. Honestly I don't know why Samuel and Nwakeme were invited if the coach doesn't think they were good enough to play any part in two games. That is pure sentiments when you consider that Onyekuru and Kayode were the ones left out. Moses Simon gassed, both of them could have replaced him and it would have been an upgrade but the coach didn't invite, the senseless invitations need to stop, invite only those that will participate. Until this point Nigerians don't know what Ogu can bring to the team, if the coach doesn't think he is good enough to challenge the starters then invite other people there to come and challenge, we have Joel Obi, Azubuike, Ajagun and even Lawal all waiting for their chance. 6 Likes |

Icon4s: Icon4s, you are Nigerian we know ourselves. Sone was born in London where you have automatic data capture at birth, even when you are pregnant that data is captured. So it absolutely 100% impossible to falsify your age. If Aluko was in Nigeria he could easily be 21/22 you should know what I am saying. Even with the MRI scan it operates within a set of variables. Human physiology is dynamic it differs from person to person. Nonetheless, what the MRI is to tell you if you are above 17 based on bone fusion. So with near 100% certainty it can state the level of bone fusion. Something you should know the variables used by FIFA are not Afrocentric derived in thier entirety extending margin for errors. In 2009 I had an ACL rebuild and had quite a few discussion with the senior radiologists about this subject. To cut tory short if to say dem born Aluko for Naija he no go pass 24. Remember Ndidi failed an MRI scan in 2013. But he one of our youngest prospects. Let's leave matter before we open a can of worms. 2 Likes |

TheGoodJoe: http://www.empireofthekop.com/2017/09/04/the-genius-clause-lfc-put-in-divock-origis-wolfsburg-deal/ In this deal Origi MUST play 80% of all thier games or Wolfsburg willl face huge financial penalties. Essentially, which I said earlier and much to my suprise ( had to eat humble pie for forgiveness to forgive me lol) he has become a regular. Has taken position from Origi. See news clip below. I don't normally refer to the press but it buttresses my point s just for you I make an exception. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpool-solanke-origi-klopp-problem-13438841 |

Mujtahida: Me sef confuse oh and people are talking of Nwakali. Ogu needs to play first. If Mikel is not playing then Ogu should what I didn't want was two players who lack pace playing in our midfield at the same time. In that scenario we could get over run. 1 Like |

komekn:We should pipe down on all those Nwakali dem for now. That South African game brought me down from the high cloud of overweening confidence in newly discovered players and I am more cautious in hooting for their inclusion even though I know that until they are tested in the furnace we won't find the steel in them. Jon Ogu should be a direct replacement for Mikel Obi...this Mikel Agu guy is not it mbok And I do agree that Nwakaeme should have come in as opposed to Kelechi. Even Tyronne keeps getting invited without game time, is this how some people will bench their way to Russia? Every member of whatever team we send to Russia must have participated at some point during qualifiers, even Alampasu. At least we have seen three goalies throughout this qualifiers, a fourth won't be bad against Algeria....i think that is the most rotated position for us 3 Likes |

ChrisKels:It is okay to invite Omeruo for the tie. But Awaziem should start, because the Zambians may be looking to exploit omeruo's weakness (if hasn't improved on it) that he showed against them in the first leg which made Nigeria to concede. And Iwobi should also start in place of Simon if he returns from injury and regains fitness before the match. |

I know we should be happy about the 4 points but I just feel we could have got more. Cameroon were still at a fragile state and were there for the kill. We lacked killer instinct in our tactics even our subs were drab and made no impact. I honestly won't be at ease until we officially qualify because I can see 2 very difficult games against Zambia and Algeria. 1 Like |

komekn: I wonder what you are writing here. It is incoherent. Origi was not a regular at Liverpool before Solanke came. With or without Solanke coming to Liverpool, he would have left Liverpool in search of regular time because he is a quality forward. Solanke is not one of the top forwards for Liverpool. So in no way does he take credit for Origi's departure. There is no relation in Origi's departure from Liverpool and Solanke's arrival. That article said nothing. If Solanke is a regular, then it makes sense. He is not. There are players ahead of him. 1 Like |

We should applaud the man for giving his team no worries at the back in such a game. He did well for a first timer. Yes a rush of blood made him to conceed the penalty, but before then, the same scenario happened in the 1st half, he stood his ground guarding the sticks before shehu cleared the line, I saw shehu talking to him with the sign that he should have come out for the ball. But am happy that when he was finally called up, he rose to the occasion. That stop was world class.we should say a big well done to him for not letting us down. FabioPeter: 4 Likes |

I just watched the Highlights, and I will say that luck were on the side of the Cameroonians. Beautiful football from Nigeria with great chances especially for Moses and Ighalo. Ighalo is indeed one of the central forwards that Nigeria needs. He can on his own torment defenses and score without much need poaching. You don't need to create "clear-cut" chances for him before he can score, unlike how Iheanacho relies only on those "clear-cut" chances as a central forward with poaching. With this beautiful football that I saw, I believe Nigeria can go pass their previous records in the world cup by the grace of God. And I am okay that the likes of Cameroon didn't qualify, how can the reigning African Champions resort to scoring only via penalties? not even from corner-kick, not to talk of from build-up plays. Same with how they managed to score via a penalty against Zambia in their home soil, and they would have just gone to the world cup to shame Africa like they did in the last edition with the likes of Croatia them spanking them 4-0 and without picking a single point from the group. They should just concentrate on Afcon. 4 Likes |

mumemma: Yep my bad, it wasn't Balogun that got yellow carded in Uyo and Yaounde. As a matter of factly, nobody got yellows successively. Ighalo and Moses plus Mikel(I guess) all got their yellows in either of the two matches, hence barring any injury we should have a full battalion against the Zambians in Uyo. Thanks for that correction miss. Off point : plz stop making mention of Ifeanyi udeze and Oshaniwa here 1 Like |
