Honestly, I don't see Rohr seeing past Joel Obi if Joel stays fit and keep doing what he does best for Torino in the middle of the pack. Joel Obi and Mikel even struck up a great partnership back in 2011-2012 (I think?). Joel was just about below 22.... Joel Obi is the answer I see honestly for Mikel's role but I just wanna be certain his injury woes are over... But as alternatives we need to consider Ajagun too... Lawal is still there but I will go with Ajagun first. As for Kelechi Nwakali.... he is still in the picture too for the long run despite being just 19 and still inexperienced but he proved himself as Arsenal's best loanee last season.... he did great for MVV Maastricht and they even came close to promotion to the Eredivisie. Now his performances were recognised and he will get to feature for VVV Venlo for his first full season in the top flight of Holland. K.Nwakali needs to prove himself and I think his potentials are huge judging by his performances last season and the room for improvement he can still fill in. But after all is said and done... he is in the picture for the long run. Joel Obi and Abdul Ajagun should be our focus for now as regards Mikel's role in the middle as the coordinating AMF and orchestrator of the team's plays. Raheem lawal should come behind these two in my opinion. Azubuike Okechukwu is another option but his style is slightly different.... He plays more as deeplying playmaker.... a regista as defined in Italian football terminologies. He is not as attacking minded as Ajagun or Joel Obi... but he does know how to orchestrate from deep. Kingsley Sokari too is another option. He is attack minded and also knows how to keep the ball and dictate plays... only that he has not been tested at higher levels compares to Joel Obi, Ajagun and Raheem Lawal... so he will be behind them. In all... I just hope Rohr spreads his dragnet and expands his radar search.... We need an upgrade at LB and Mikel's quality Backup.... these two issues are very important right now and more pressing. Hope Rohr and his crew addresses these and soon too. forgiveness: |

forgiveness: Do u have any goalkeepers presently in better shape than what's obtainable now? What's the guarantee that recuperating enyeama will be match fit before that decisive encounter in less than a month? I like nwokolor as much as u do but be honest, how many minutes has he under his belt so far this season compared to Ezenwa? In the attack u can make a case for anybody but Musa that hasn't made the match day squad dating back to almost middle of last season. Even with Eagles, he hardly see minutes of action and the few minutes he was on the pitch specifically in the double header against Cameroun, he didn't make any striking impact, u can argue that he didn't have enough time, but if he was cutting it at training, he would be playing more. At the club level, form and Stats wise, onyekuru trumps him. Rahim Lawal? The less said, the better. He now plays in the same league as Azu, has he been as good as or any better than Azu in Turkey so far? Though they played with different sets at the u23, Rahim was never as good as Azu was at the u23s. Lol u thumbed up my defence even with Shehu (a Cyprus league player) on the list? Hmmm wonders they say... |

komekn: Origi is not a regular player for Liverpool. Are you saying Solanke displaced Origi of his place on the bench? I have always welcomed competition in the growth of players. Osimhen will gain working with Origi. It is good for the team also. The funny part is when you say Solanke who is not a regular starter for Liverpool displaced Origi. Even in the article you posted, Origi started and Solanke came from the bench. So you can go on with the illusion, there are people you can not deceive with such statements. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 12:28pm On Sep 05, 2017 |
forgiveness: Origi left because he does not want to sit in the bench. He wants to play regularly. That is why he went to Wolfsburg. Not to sit on the bench with Solanke. It is false saying Solanke displaced Origi. That is what is what I call self illusion. |

Excellently said... that is it. A ball holder under pressure.... Honestly.... I think Iwobi being young can still grow into that kind of player... he got the potentials but right now he is not there. Joel can come close.... he is kinder similar to Mikel and even struck up a bright partnership with him when they played a few times together... it was very short. Ajagun well.... he is a good ball holder too. None of them have got the Super experience and Class Mikel possesses in his role but at least we can have them as solid backups... while we groom a player of Nwakali's quality for the long term future... I see the same swag, class and confidence of Mikel's plays in Nwakali but he needs to step up first a bit more and prove himself worthy in the dutch topflight. Mickael2: 2 Likes |

comodo: The Eredivisie Dutch first division is ranked below Turkey in Europe. Nwakali is Arsenal player that has never played for Arsenal and the way it's looking may never play. Just like Omeruo who has never played for Chelsea. Venlo is a mid table team that is not making any waves in Europe or its domestic league. If he cannot in this lowly league be the best AMF or be in the top 5 or at worst top 10. He cannot justifiably be invited to the SE. |

TheSuperNerd: There are also off-the-ball movement Mikel makes that is a key part of his performance. He slowly detects gaps on the field and fills it. I do not still get the whole playing format but it is an interesting study. That is why I propose a youngster studying him closely. |

Solanke deh score dem put deh guy before you Origi. the writing is clearly on a big Neon sign board. Your time don reach to find level. All this one u deh argue, I tyre 4 U Oh. Ok you are correct. |

komekn: It is people like you who feel football is just about score and assist. There is more to the game. Even the article highlighted how Origi covers more grounds and plays multiple positions comfortably. As long as Solanke is not a key forward and the coach did not mention letting Origi go for Solanke, it is self delusion claiming Origi left because of Solanke. The fact remains that Origi was not going to sit on the bench this season. Those that made him go are the regular forwards. Not the benchers. He signed a deal to play as a starter. Something he could not get as a Liverpool and not as a bencher. |

Mikel got that instinctual training and discerning abilities from his years of playing as the Anchor man (DMF) for Chelsea, one of the world's biggest clubs today... He is combining that experience as a DMF/anchorman with his natural gifts as a creative force and orchestrator too.... Mikel is a case study to behold for our up and coming midfielders honestly... a real masterpiece study and I hope we can utilise his experience by blooding in his replacement(s) too.... We have never had a player like Okocha since he left the scene but we also may never again have a player like Mikel Obi but we can use his experience and impact of teachings via observation and close watchings to forge new waves/lines of midfield generals who will be gods in their own rights for the Super Eagles... this is why I cry out for an integration of Mikel's apprentice now just as Mikel was integrated into the set-up when Okocha was still around.... Going by the ratings (since I didn't watch the full match) I will adjure the coach to replace Mikel with Ogu and not Agu should there be need for Mikel's replacement in the next game. I know that Ogu may be "slow" but the good works that he does with the ball on his feet and his positioning can make up for such a lapse. How he positions can ensure that he covers the defensive holes and gaps that can be exploited by the opponents. His decision making on the ball so far has also been palatable. And his ability to take long range shots is also an added advantage. |

Theophilus Solomon Open Goal Account For Partizan Belgrade In Style Newly signed Partizan Belgrade forward Theophilus Solomon got off to a flying start in his first game for the Serbian outfit by scoring in their 2-0 friendly win over Macva. Solomon joined the team on a season long loan deal from Croatian side HNK Rijeka, but his debut has been delayed as he continues to build his way to full match fitness after missing their pre season training. He was however handed a start in their friendly game meant to keep players who didn’t travel for international games in shape, and he responded with a well taken goal to open scoring in the friendly clash against Macva. 21 year old Solomon was quick to a through pass over the top of the defence of Macva, his control took him and the ball away from his marker before calmly slotting the ball into the net. The goal wasn’t the only highlight of his performance as he was very lively and gave the defence of Macva all sort of troubles with his all action style of play, which earned him praises from his coach after the game. **Osas Mahawi Source: http://owngoalnigeria.com/2017/09/05/theophilus-solomon-open-goal-account-for-partizan-belgrade-in-style/ 1 Like |

Mickael2:Honestly this was my thought, none of these players can do what Mikel does.It seems we are going into another post JayJay Okocha brouhaha.Hope to see another midfielder in his own fashion that w suit d team not necessary Mikel replica. Mikel has proved that he is different from Okocha just like Okocha proved he wasn't Henry Nwosu or Etim Esin. All we need now is a player in his own making. US 94 comes to my mind,do we have another Okocha in that team?NO in d first three matches Okocha didn't make d starting line up but Nigeria made it to d second round, this was due to Westerhoff's tactical ability that gave room for Siasia to operate behind Yekini and Amokachie with finidi and Amuneke on d wings. It's now left for Rohr to give us good tactics in case of Mikel unavailability just like Westerhoff did at US 94 with d absence of Jay Jay against Bulgaria, Argentina, Greece, looking for Mikel copy cat w be an huge task. 1 Like |
