So I have been in the states for 2 months now. My initial school was Upper Iowa University but I transferred to Everett Community College because the fees was crazy and the scholarship I was given at Iowa was not full with some hidden charges. I still get to pay $22k+ (with the scholarship). Here in Everett, it's just $18k for the year and I can pay per quarter which is really nice.

It has been good for me so far. School starts next week. If you are pursuing something related to tech, you should come to Washington. Washington State University or maybe Seattle University. The tech space here is amazing. After San Francisco, Seattle is the next Silicon Valley plus it is cheaper to live here and there is a higher rate of getting a job.

Microsoft, T-Mobile, Amazon, Boeing all have their HQ here.

I just finished an internship program with a startup in Seattle.

Yh, one more thing for those coming to the states, if the International Drivers License is allowed where you are going, you should get one from Naija. I got mine for ₦15k.

I got a Corolla for $850 including title and stuff and it has really helped me. You know I get to help people deliver stuff once in a while for $20/hr. So every extra bucks count.

I'm just saying this because a lot of people don't consider Washington State and there are loads of opportunities here.

I just wanted to keep you guys updated and I promise to stay active here so I can give back and help the little way I can just as @texrem and everyone else here helped me out.

New edition of discounted promo offer for GRE and TOEFL is out again for just 15 people and is likely for it to increase above 15. All the 15 applicants will pay 50% while some benevolent poeple on this thread are paying 50% to subsidize it for them but they don't want me to mention their names as usual.

Due to some issues encountered during the previous edition, payment is required before test registration this time around because i am not going to wait for 24 hours anymore before requesting for payment. Enough of all the touching stories. It is not by force to benefit from this discounted promo offer.

It's easy to partake, go to www.ets.org/gre or www.ets.org/Toefl and create your Ets account first. GRE is $205 while Toefl is $180, multiple it by 370 and divide it by 2 to get the 50% of the amount you pay. Make sure you register before sending me login details for the TOEFL or GRE registration.

1. Type of test.
2. User name.
3. Password.
4. Date you want to write the test.
5. Month you want to write the test.
6. Phone number. (please let the phone number be reachable)
7. State you want to write the test.
8. Name of the center you will prefer.
9. Send me pm to give you account details for payment.
10. Notify immediately you send payment
11. the exchange rate is #370 to $1
12. You divide the total cost by 2 to get the 50% rate

I beg of you that want to partake, kindly do the fee calculation very well and don't send me below the fee payment because i will automatically delete you from the offer list and please be sure of your test date and center before sending me your payment and details because i won't call anyone this time around to verify test date and center. I don't want incomplete details to be send to me and to all those sending people my email and phone number kindly notify me first or better still show them this page to send me pm.

N.B This is first come and first serve because i will work on the payment i received first.

Terms and conditions. Payment is required first before test registration in the edition.

God bless the good people behind this. Amen

I had the same issue while I was applying to schools as well. I graduated from LAUTECH and I had used a copy of my student transcript(unofficial) to apply. That would do during application process. The problem is they will need to have received your official transcript when you arrive the school to check in. Fortunately for me I had a masters degree and that was what I tendered at check in. We are still awaiting LAUTECH to sort themselves out, sadly. My advice, go ahead and apply with your statement of result and hope for the best.

Thank you Brother,i do appreciate your effort and time to reply me. Statement of result was submitted in the process of obtaining B.tech certificate. Is it possible getting that? Thank you

how easy was it to transfer schools?
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 12 by donshegze: 4:46pm On Sep 05, 2017

(1) GRE and TOEFL is good to write. But since your chosen school does not require any of them. You don't have to write it. Though VOs often use that to guage your genuineness as a student and also your school reputation.
If you read the collated transcripts on this thread, you will find that sometimes the VOs will ask if the student wrote a test, at other times they won't. It would be too high a cost to pay to write those tests just because of visa interview. I would rather you prepare for good answers why you didn't write any test if the question gets asked.

(2) Ignore the term 'marked sheet'. It shouldn't get you to panic. The page where you got that from is asking you to upload your transcript. Unofficial transcript is the one the student supplied to the school by way of upload or email. Official transcript is the one that is sent directly from LAUTECH to your intended US school. Honestly, I don't know of any workaround for transcript. It is very crucial to admission decision. But someone suggested you try out your statement of result. Perhaps you should do that while you visit LAUTECH and try to work out your transcript.

(3) I guess (2) have answered that. I also suggest you email your school and let them know that you are working out your transcript while you upload what you already got.

All the best.
thank you for your concerns and long typing time to explain, just imagining mere me, like you know me before now,i now grasp the Transcript aspect. Once again am greatful

Hey guys, so here's my travel/POE experience (so sorry for being about 2 weeks late on this; here goes):

I was headed to Cookeville, TN and flew AirFrance on Sunday, 20th August. Getting through airport security/check in was not as crazy as before; the process for all that has really been streamlined. So I had 4 bags to check in; one of them was filled with foodstuffs (yeah I know, people kept asking me if I was running away. lol). I was mentally prepared for the million and one questions that may arise at the POE. Anyways, My family went with me to the airport and I'm grateful that they did because my carry-on bags had to be condensed sort of, so they took somethings back home. While that was going on, one of them went ahead to pay for my two extra check-in bags and after all that was done, I proceeded to the counter to have my bags weighed finally, tagged and taken away (ps I'd checked in online before then as well so I got to choose the seats I wanted). My route was Lagos-Paris-Atlanta-Nashville (there's no airport in Cookeville).

So, after all that was done, I said goodbye to my peeps cry cry and proceeded for immigration checks and all. Now to boarding: my ticket was bumped up to business class (of course one doesn't ask why grin). Time to board came and we did; took off at 11.50pm. Flight was extremely comfortable as I could recline my seat to assume the "bed" position alongside nothing short of excellent service (though I ate just once among the countless times we were offered food, drinks, champagne etc) and slept nearly all through the flight. We got to Paris on time and the layover for the flight to Atlanta was 4hours; which I spent window shopping and spraying tester perfumes grin grin grin

We departed for Atlanta and arrived on schedule. The POE queue was out of this world as I spent roughly 3hours in the queue before it got to my turn. Finally, it got to my turn and I was attended to by an Asian CBP officer.
The usual exchange of pleasantries took place and he asked me why I came to the US, where my home country was and asked to see my I20. He proceeded to ask me if I had any food items and I said yes; then he asked if I made that declaration on the landing card as well; yes and yes. So he asked me what food items I came with and I started mentioning (beans, garri, egusi, ogbono, dried okazi, fish etc...lol). Then we started chatting about different things, at that point all formalities were over. After a few laughs and an interesting discussion, I was escorted by one of the officers for agricultural declaration. Now, this took another 45mins because you have to await your turn. No hassles here really; the bags were just passed through the xray and that was it.

All this while, time for my connecting flight (Delta) to Nashville was getting closer (I allowed for nearly 5hours between my landing time from Paris and the boarding for the domestic flight). Soooooo, this was done and I had to get to the counter with my stuff for check in. Note that I had 4 bags to check in and seems most domestic flights within the US try to discourage people from carrying so much check in bags. 1 check in bag is $25, the second one costs $35 and the price for each bag keeps increasing; so I was gonna pay about $200 again for my load cry
This was where favour came in.

I was attended to by a nice Asian (again) lady and she was shocked that I had so many bags. Long story short, she was able to tie in my bags to my extra luggage fees from Naija (even though they were separate bookings) and I didn't pay a dime. She adviced me not to have so many check in bags when flying domestic in the States because it's really expensive. So, all my four bags went in FREE OF CHARGE!!!!!!!!!
So I got to the departure gate and we took off 15mins behind schedule and again, I slept mostly as I was so exhausted and jet lagged again. Got to Nashville, got my stuffs and my one and only brother Oludare01 came to get me from the airport. He's my day1 niqqa wink
Oludare01 is just kiss kiss

So, that is the end of my story.

11. the exchange rate is #370 to $1

God bless the good people behind this. Amen
