Mickael2: Just glanced at the clip. From the start, Mikel took a shot inside the 18 yard Box and Pique was outside. The same person you are praising will diminish Mikel. Ha. Take ya time. Central Midfielder inside the 18 and dmf outside. |

Mickael2: Who said Rakitic is a dmf? I am talking of marking to diminish the effect of a player. Also, we are talking of stopping Mikel from performing. That is why I keep preaching against people who just look at stats and argue than watching the game and judge. If Mikel is in position to give killer through balls, it is dangerous. Statistics might not write he created a chance but anyone watching it knew that was a deadly one. With a well timed run, that could cause havoc. |

Mickael2: You are the one making sense when you said Busquets will diminish Mikel. Just in the clip, when Mikel took a shot, Busquets was outside the eighteen. Can that kind of person diminish Mikel? Ha. Busquets can not. 1 Like |

Icon4s:where did I say everyone that has been invited will play? I said, everyone that will be going to Russia and most of those players will not be in Russia if not all of them. Aina will be a regular, that is a given and he will play. I listed the guys most likely to be in Russia, and they have all played...even the likes of Ebuehi that did not make my list, he has played and he could be in Russia. Like I said, most of the players have played and all will have played by then. 1 Like |

The only big team that ever trashed Nigeria was the USA Basketball team at the 2012 Olympics ....and even then, we went down fighting |

adegwurulez: Yes, we should be careful at this point. Nevertheless, some player like Aaron Samuel should be removed and replaced with a better player like Kayode. However, Ike Uche deserved to be called and whether he performed afterwards is not an issue. He deserved to be called at that point. Oh-ha! So, we should not bring that yardstick to deprive players doing well at this point. GBAM! Forget Oliseh, he seems to be an hypocrite. Igboun wey flopped big time was still retained and played regularly for the Super Eagles. He didn't give the boy chance. |

Super Eagles Left Back Position: A Puzzle Yet To Be Solved Published: September 07, 2017 Super Eagles Left Back Position: A Puzzle Yet To Be SolvedI probably should bow my head down for not raising this issue for sometime but there is always time to bring up this issue. However like the proverbial saying, it is better late than never. First and foremost I'd like to congratulate Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr and his technical team for largely selecting the right players. The relative lack of intense criticism of his squad attests to this, only there were and still are some reservations over the recent exclusion of Olarenwaju Kayode, Kenneth Omeruo and Henry Onyekuru But that is to be expected as expectations on player selections vary from one person to the other. There is however the bigger concern that the left back which is being occupied by Elderson Echiejille leaves much to be desired. It will be the biggest mistake ever in my humble opinion and any intentions to have this be a reality is better aborted at this early stage in the ultimate interest of the Super Eagles. My beef is why we keep insisting on playing Echiejille at that position when clearly we are not getting the best out of him. The fact is that the Sivasspor defender has lost two or three yards. As if it couldn't get worse, Rohr has always kept faith with the former Monaco man of all people at left back! This is indeed extremely alarming. We have much problems with Echiejille and we now want to compound it by not giving him competition. I wouldn't bore coach Rohr with names because I know as he reads this piece (which he often does) all the probables will emerge fresh in his mind. All I can say is that, rather than saturating his defensive unit, he should have kept a closer eye on the artificially well-loaded left-back position. Why not look the way of Ola Aina, Kingsley Madu, Stanley Amuzie and Maarouf Yousef to solve the puzzle? Abayomi Ademetan http://www.allnigeriasoccer.com/read_news.php?nid=24550 |

Icon4s:you haven't been following the argument then. The original post leading to that one said "You cannot chop bench and go to Russia".... There was no point repeating that part over and over. The 'everybody' in question is " everybody going to the World Cup"....not just every invitee |

Joebie: getting thrashed is far far different from getting totally outplayed. By the way in recent memory, our only meeting with Spain was a thorough thrashing, 3-0 not 4-0 though. And apart from Enyeama's heroics, we would have been Messi's most preferred team at the group stages. Which other top team have we faced in recent memory? |

TheGoodJoe: you see, do you even watch this games? Our 4-0 loss to Psg had nothing to do with Pastore schooling Busq, oga talk like someone who watches the front of his tv for once. Go, sitdown and watch that game, then come back and tell me Busq's actual position in that game. How did Isco school Busquets and where? |

safarigirl: I am still telling you that not even all those sitting on the bench for these matches will get to play. I am sure you know the names of players that have sat on the bench for different games have varied. Some sat on the bench once and were never re-invited. If you say Every player that makes it to Russia must be tested it is a different thing. |

Fine, it's not about the scoreline, but I think you are exaggerating especially when you use say "totally outclassed". I don't admire most of our recent (pre Rohr era) performances though. Mickael2: |

I wasn't particularly impressed with the Keshi era either. And that's my own opinion. Modified When/If* we qualify, I see Rohr surpassing our past. And I don't care who we will be grouped with. Remember our best in the WC is the second round. Just keeping the target low, but trying to tell you all the same that the '94 SE had the best chance of going past the second round, compared to the the SE of 98, 02, 2010 and 2014. If we had kept faith with Troussier we would have achieved it in 98. IMO, the SE of 2002, 2010 and 2014 did not have that potential considering the depth of the starting line up and the bench. Mickael2: |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheGoodJoe(m): 12:26am On Sep 08, 2017 |
Mickael2: In Spain and Barcelona, Busquets plays in teams that defends with collective efforts. Busquets is hardly in a position where he as to do a lot of defending alone. His style of play fits the system. He only plays and has played in a system where his team does most of the controlling. They are hardly underpressure for a long time. Mikel is not a DMF turned attacking midfield. He is a creative genius put in an unfamiliar position. He made the most of the DMF role. So leave to defender. Put Busquets in a team that does not hold possession and let me see whether he smell top 20 World best defensive midfielders. |
