The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris yesterday said that the police force under his administration will recruits 31,000 officers yearly for the next five years to effectively fight crimes in the country.

Idris said the exercise would enable the agency to meet up with the United Nations (UN) standard of one policeman per four persons in every part of the country.
The IG gave the hint at the commissioning of the new Nasarawa State police command headquarters on Shendam Road, Lafia.

Nigeria Police Force is operating far below the United Nations standard of policing and in view of this, we are working towards recruiting 31,000 police every year in the next five years.
“Even at that, we need government’s and the people’s cooperation to effectively fight crime to a very low level. The press must join us to publicize our idea in crime fight,” he stated.
Speaking, Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura called on the IGP to raise the standard requirement in the recruitment of candidates to certain level above what it is presently.
He also urged the police force to facilitate capacity building to handle the increasing crimes in the society and the new trend of criminal advancement.
The state commissioner of Police, Sediq Abubarkar, in his welcome address, thanked Almakura for building the new office for effective operation of officers.

Rather igp say 31,000 corrupt criminals

Most of this people are not fit

All they do is to help family and friends

They don't scrutinize they only pick

Due to religion, tribal, ethnic , they are from or who knows them

I don't see any changes until we are ready to change our mindsets

The IGP seems to be saying he will be introducing about 31,000 criminals in uniform yearly for the next five years to effectively commit crimes in the country.

Just as if the corrupt acts of the police are earned through the training given to them at the police training school.
Moreover, a great reformation starting from the IG and his mode of administration in the force will be a better option for now to fight crime, rather than recruiting more police.

A whole national Police doesn't have a short code emergency number or even an exlusive channel or mode of communication within d force in dis 21st century? But they didn't tell us when CBN was recruiting, we never heard from NNPC again after the congratulatory text from Phillip Consulting, NIMASA don't even advertise again, but keep sending northerners to study marine engineering and nautical science in Asia, Europe and North Africa. Many are back now after graduating only to find out that 95% of ship owners are southerners who got no chill leaving them stranded and frustrated

DPR said them no see their Papa certificate hence disqualified, others just got a regret mail for applying only, no reason no excuse. Just simple, sorry YOUR APPLICATION WAS UNSUCCESSFUL grin grin grin

as in they weren't given a chance to compete.

Sounds funny right, until it hits you!!!

Hope the recruitment would be free and fair and based on merit and not done to favour a section of the country more than others.

This IGP does not have strategic solutions to policing in this country. Only has old, archaic approach used by previous IGs. The governors should be allowed to control their own State police rather than forced to work with a federally inept one. Some govs can manage their police better if given d chance , eg, Lagos.

Successful candidates must demonstrate their capability of collecting road-side cash donations and tithes by the following MODALITIES :

1. The Secret Handshake Modality, where the officer executes the cash collection while casually shaking the hand of the stopped driver.

2. The Flying Cash Modality, where the folded currency thrown out by passing car's drivers, is expertly caught in mid air, before it lands.

3. The Distraction Modality, where the officer points up to the sky, and then takes the cash while all the passengers are busy looking up.

Applicants who have NOT mastered ALL of the above three vital skills of Nigerian law enforcement, should not bother seeking employment as a policeman in Nigeria, until they have enrolled for remedial classes designed to improve all required techniques until perfection is attained.

Thank you for your support, and God bless Nigeria.
