As a concerned citizen of Nigeria who care about the growth of every part of the country. The contribution of southeast geopolitical zone to the centralized federal wealth is very small going by the available statistics. How will the geopolitical zone survive when the wealth is decentralized. North-Agriculture and solid minerals southsouth-Oil wealth, industrialization and the ports currently has the second largest IGR after southwest. west-ports,oil(largest oil refinery),Agriculture(largest palm oil refinery),Industrialization(ikeja-ogun-ibadan axis)Education and research institutes(largest concentration of private universities and UI,OAUand Unilag) southeast-nothing significant exept coal and few oil deposit and currently has one of lowest IGR 4 Likes 3 Shares

I don't know how that has become your business oo. weather they die or live is not your business face your region and let them face theirs. I believe with this your thread you want the status quo to remain, Restructure first and worry about ur own region. 14 Likes 1 Share |

Danladi7: It is very imporrant to note that Igbo land is much bigger than the so called "south East". Be that as it may, Igbos want to simply go. If their contributions to the federal coffer is negligible, it should make Nigeria more disposed to letting them go. 17 Likes 3 Shares |

OP you do not understand the demands of the Igbos, the Igbos are not interested in restructuring. They are interested in secession, secession with the oil producing states. They want to secede Nigeria's oil. That is why they are so desperate to attach all former non Igbo states of the former Eastern Region and even the Mid-Western region to their Biafra. Restructuring Nigeria to achieve resource control or seceding with only the core Igbo states is tantamount to suicide. Where will they get the foreign currency to import goods from china? How will they get money to run their government? 8 Likes 1 Share |

attackgat:Nigerians want you to go but you have failed to follow due process instead behaving like touts. Why do you keep electing people opposed to your exit. Not one of your senators has raised it in the Senate. Not one of your State Houses of Assembly has debated it or passed any resolution so how are we supposed to know you are serious. At the next election only vote people disposed to Biafra. It is not a childish matter but serious adult business that has serious implications e.g the boundaries and terms etc so you cannot achieve this on Nairaland or by protests. let me give you one example : The IRA in Northern Ireland carried out all kinds of bombing whilst there was no noise in Scotland and yet it was Scotland that got a referendum whilst nothing of the kind is planned in Northern Ireland. Why Due process. So do the needful it will not happen by protests but by electing proBiafra Governors and legislators .The alternative is war there is no other way. Choose one 3 Likes 1 Share |

Danladi7:We are not better than the west before the war owing to the fact that Lagos was once the FCT and all infrastructure was concentrated there. Lagos is not the way it because the Yoruba people worked hard or anything but because major Nigeria industrial development was concentrated there. After the civil war the whole east was destroyed by bombing and my people lost there properties all over the federation but how these same people came to become a contending force after having lost all during the civil war leaves one to wonder what the arrival of the Biafra will be like. We as Igbo's will always survive. People say we love money and I am not afraid to accept we love money. It is better to like money and work hard than marrying many wives bearing many children and trowing parties up and down and be waiting for handouts from the FG every single month. Wake up op we don't need oil money to survive. We make things happen. 13 Likes 1 Share |

omonnakoda: Due process did not create Nigeria and due process will not divide it. There is no point raising any topic of independence at the national assemby as it will not be entertained. Even if it is entertained, other zones will never vote for the disintegration of Nigeria, not now or ever. The Northern Ireland you are talking about, are you aware that Britain gave them a referendum in 1973 where they were asked to choose if they wanted to remain part of the UK or join their kith and kin in the Irish Republic? They voted to stay. The Scotland you are talking about is an autonomous Region. They have their own Scottish parliament, scottish police, scottish legal system. They even have their own money, the Scottish pound. So when they agitated for independence, all they had to do was move a motion in the scottish parliament. Nigeria is not structured like the UK for Biafrans to do the same, therefore, the Biafran agitators can only keep protesting until the Nigerian government and political establishment decide to grant them a referendum. 6 Likes |

attackgat: We can argue about whether it was created by due process but that argument would apply to every nation on earth not just Nigeria In Northen Ireland in 1973 the Separatists opted to boycott the election( Just like IPOB are advocating because they are not popular) They then resorted to violence for decades and at the end they still SAT DOWN TO TALK . So if you like continue the violence you will still sit down to talk. Nigeria had autonomous regions just like the UK with constitution, police etc until they were scrapped by Decree 34 by guess who ? General Ironsi in 1966. That is what you folk conveniently forget. The So called Scottish pound is meaningless . It is not a different currency so do not mislead the ignorant the underlying monetary policy is controlled by the bank of England you have the same in the Isle of Man and elsewhere .As long as it is "STERLING" it is the same thing. The Majority of the Bank notes in Scotland and ALL COINS are Bank of England Issue .Scotland DOES NOT HAVE A CENTRAL BANK As far as the referendum was concerned the motion in the SCOTTISH PARLIARMENT HAD NO LEGAL FORCE. It had to be ALLOWED by Westminster. Inform yourself properly and stop misleading people. Nevertheless it had moral force which is what we are saying you should do in the SE . Let your State Houses of Assembly pass such a resolution to start with. How come it is not even being discussed 2 Likes |
