Yes very honest interview... And I am glad he knew the task ahead of me and he's not boastful about current SE... Actually he never promised to qualify SE to world cup... This is actually a plus for us and a plus for his career...

Thanks for the update tbaba

to be honest we gonna loose these lad...
reason because of our FA chairman who talks loosely....
just watch how england will cap Tammy within the next few months...

why can't he just keep his Chase secret
we can't lose him bro remember he has his choice and I think his father will persuade him to play for us because our golden generation is better than theirs.

right here following silently. Glad someone remembers.. Sir terzurum5...ok OK I will drop comments. Regarding the left back issue, I am deeply touched and sad at the amount of stick given echeijile. We know age is not on his side, he has lost a yard or two, but please....he is the best option we have right now.. Sad but true..

If you disagree, please name a natural left back of Nigerian origin, qualified to play for us, in any of the top 20 leagues in the world, [20 I mean expand the bracket] that will unseat ụwa. Rohr is no slouch, he knows what he is doing. He will continue to field the best we have, and right now ụwa is our best bet for a starting position atleft back... Show the dude some respect.

Disagree much give names.. And not make shift options.. Right now in the team we got Aina and Tyrone... Make shift options..... How did we even get here... I need to develop my left leg asap.. Lolz..... Or probably make a baby, force him to be a leftie with an eye on the left back position of the Eagles......

All am asking for is for ụwa to be shown some respect..... Cos he has held his own for years in the team.... And I can't remember any mistake he has done in recent games that cost us goals... Accept his limitations.. Uphold his strengths... We are a team...

PS..if ụwa gets injured before the world cup.. Then we are screwed.. SCREWED FROM ALL HOLES.. ASK KESHI AND THE LAST WORLD CUP WE PARTICIPATED.. peace I'm out.

You think those currently sitting on the SE bench have no potentials or nothing to offer...
lot of them..are currently waiting for an opportunity to shine and never let go...

so forget it...there is no LB that can't be replaced...probably you forgot aina nura and ebuehi can all play that role

If balogun/ekong gets injured, we have awaziem, Agbo and even Ndidi can play as a CB. And if push comes to shove, we can always fall back on omeruo. Who would you rather have? Yobo? Shittu? I really don't see any problem in that central defence.

I did mention that we need a creative midfielder didn't I? The problem with the Eagles midfield is that thier creativity dies with mikel's substitution. Someone like Aluko would be a good addition, if not, Iwobi can always take that role.

We do not need another goalkeeper, Enyeama is still a member of this team.

Martins will have to do something extraordinary to displace any of our striker.

They have not been tested, have they?

Besides, we can't limit the CB position to those aforementioned players because we have a lot currently active.

Derek Osede, Tiago Ilori, Jordan Torunarigha, Felix Uduokhai, Brain Idowu and Fikayo Tomori are also good enough. Otigba don commot for radar.

Defoe still plays for England and likewise some old players in other National teams provided they are inform.

Don't be too mechanical, my friend.

National team football is much more than just statistics, other factors come into play. Granted, Martins may have some impressive stats but still might not be suited for this team.

Ikechukwu uche also raked some impressive stats at villareal, leading to calls for his inclusion to the world Cup. Keshi heeded those calls and took uche to the world Cup but uche couldn't add anything to the team, Infact Ideye would have been a better pick.

If we were to rely solely on stats, our attack to the world Cup will be filled with players like onuachu, Bonaventure etc not even martins

It seems you don't know what you are talking about.

CHELSEA AND ENGLAND SHOULD OPPOSE NIGERIA’S TAMMY ABRAHAM PURSUIT

The latest rumours circulating about a young Chelsea player d[/b]o not deal with transfers or loans but with national team allegiance. If Nigeria are truly chasing Tammy Abraham, both England and Chelsea should be furious.

Tammy Abraham’s decision to play for either England or Nigeria matters deeply not only to the country he chooses, but to Chelsea FC as well. Whether you approach the question from logic or emotion, you reach the same very certain and very firm conclusion: Tammy Abraham should turn down every single advance from Nigeria and stick with England.

The first and most obvious point is that Tammy Abraham – though of Nigerian heritage – was born in Camberwell, London. He was born and raised and reared in the United Kingdom. Yes, his parents are of Nigerian heritage. But at what point does that stop mattering? Every person in the world can trace their bloodline back to some far-flung destination, yet that does not determine their nationality.

Abraham was born in London. He has been at Chelsea since he was eight years old. He did not move to England as a young boy. Tammy Abraham was born the second of October 1997 in perfect damn London, England. He is a wonderful young footballer and a funny, charming young man. He does not need to be peddled by some older, cynical managers and footballing bureaucrats in a strategic chess game of prospect-catching.

MUST READ: Chelsea's 3-4-3 alternatives: Is 3-1-4-2 the future for Antonio Conte's Blues?
The fact that Nigeria are even considering this is exactly what is wrong with international football in the first place. International football is not there to strategically pick your way to progress professionally, and it should not be about cynical attempts to further a brand. It is about pride in the country of your birth. Abraham is from England. Let him be from England.

It was wrong when Victor Moses changed nationalities, and when Diego Costa did it as well. This sort of behavior is to the detriment of the wonderful patriotic moments that make international football great.

If not simply for national pride, Chelsea should hope that Tammy Abraham plays for England for one simple reason: the African Cup of Nations. AFCON takes place in the middle of the Premier League season. If Tammy Abraham is going to be as good as people suspect he will be, then Chelsea need to keep him around.

RELATED STORY: Chelsea's Tammy Abraham must weigh depth, potential in Nigeria offer
Abraham draws comparisons to Ian Wright, and in younger age group trials outshone Kylian Mbappe. Abraham will make Harry Kane look like an incomplete and poor striker in a few years’ time, while taking a legitimate shot at Chelsea’s all-time goals record. The last thing Chelsea need is Abraham gone for a month and a half during a key part of the season.

AFCON is a wonderful footballing tournament played at a hysterically terrible time of year. In many ways it devalues some of the footballers in it, and makes it harder for some clubs to invest in them. Having Abraham play for Nigeria simply lowers his value for Chelsea FC. They will not have him around as often while he increases his risk of injury by playing in a full international tournament in less-than-spectacular conditions in the middle of a Premier League and Champions League season.

NEXT: Chelsea should start Tiemoue Bakayoko against Leicester as prep for Champions League
This move would not benefit anybody except the Nigerian Football Federation. Abraham is a phenomenal young player. He should be setting his sights high on success with the England national team – the country of his birth – not strategically trying to win caps playing for a country he has at most visited on emotional vacations.

Nigerians to watch this weekend

Leicester play host to Chelsea in a battle between the last two Premier League champions. The game will see Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho do battle with Victor Moses at the King Power Stadium as the Foxes seek a major scalp in the league. Having lost to the Blues on both occasions last season, the precedent doesn’t favour Craig Shakespeare’s side. Antonio Conte’s team have recovered from their shocking opening-day loss to Burnley, and will seek a third successive win in the encounter.

This author should go and sit down Jare. So when England taps up players with dual nationality it isn't a "cynical attempt to further a brand'?

The writer further displayed his lack of knowledge in African football by saying afcon would clash with the premier league season. For his information and that of his fellow Queen boys, Afcon has been moved to June/July when all major European leagues would be on break.

Arsenal have had a shaky start to the season, and the 4-0 loss suffered in their last game against Liverpool brought matters to a head. The Gunners will seek a response when they welcome Bournemouth to the Emirates. Alex Iwobi has been out with injury, but the wideman will hope to feature against the Cherries. Arsene Wenger’s side won last season’s meeting 3-1 and they are favourites for the encounter against Eddie Howe's side, who are yet to pick up any points this season.

Joel Obi has had a blistering start to the season for Torino and found the back of the net in their comprehensive 3-0 win over Sassuolo before the international break. The central midfielder will want to pick up where he left off when the Maroons face newly promoted Benevento at the Stadio Ciro Vigorito. Though away from home, the Turin based side are still surefire favourites to come away with all three points.

Feirense have started the new season in good form and are sitting pretty in sixth place. Oghenekaro Etebo’s form has contributed to their unbeaten start to the season and he’ll be needed in top form when the Blues from Faria host high flying Sporting – who have a 100% record after four games. Feirense are underdogs going into the encounter, but having won this contest last season, they will be fired up going into the game as they seek to claim another scalp.

Onyekuru meanwhile has failed to open his account for Sporting, and he will hope to get the monkey off his back when they face ninth-placed Lokeren hoping to move up the table.

After a slow start to life at Zulte-Waregem, Peter Olayinka is starting to find his feet and has found the back of the net in his last two appearances. He will hope to continue his fine scoring form when his side welcome Abdul Ajagun’s Kortrijk seeking to move as high as third on the log. Ajagun has been in decent form for his new side, but having not won in their last two appearances, the Guys are hoping that it will be third time lucky when they face Essevee.

Victor Moses: I'm not scared - I'll fight to keep Chelsea place after Davide Zappacosta signing

Exclusive: Moses puts personal success down to manager Conte
, simon johnson |

In years gone by, Victor Moses would be fearing for his place at Chelsea right now.

Chelsea spent all summer looking to buy another right wing-back — Moses’ current position — but only succeeded when they acquired Davide Zappacosta from Torino for £23million on deadline day.

Zappacosta is a player whom Chelsea coach Antonio Conte knows well. He picked the 25-year-old in Italy’s initial squad for Euro 2016, although the player did not make the final cut.

Conte has not brought his countryman to Stamford Bridge to simply make up the numbers. Only Juventus star Alex Sandro, a player Conte also wanted for a similar role on the left flank, has made more accurate crosses as a defender from open play in Serie A than Zappacosta since the start of 2016.

Courtois scores outrageous volley in Chelsea training

But Moses is not fazed one bit and told Standard Sport: “I am ready for the competition. We needed more players, to be honest. We have a lot of games to play this season. You can’t expect to play 60 games or so. I’m ready to take on anyone that is coming here. I just want to play my football.”

Zappacosta may have some kind of relationship with Conte already, but the strength of Moses’ bond with his manager will be hard to break.

The 26-year-old still feels a debt of gratitude to the man who made him a regular in the senior side.

Chelsea bought Moses from Wigan for £9m in 2012, but after a promising debut campaign as a squad player, he was loaned out to Liverpool, Stoke and West Ham in successive seasons.

Few thought Moses would be given an opportunity last term, either, but he ended up being one of the biggest surprises in Chelsea’s title-winning story.

Not only was he an ever-present once Conte switched to a 3-4-3 formation, but Moses impressed in what was an alien position for him.

The trust Conte showed in him provides the former Crystal Palace trainee with the motivation to push himself to the limit every week.

“My game has changed and it’s all down to the manager,” he said. “He gave me the confidence to play in the position.

“I’m enjoying my football and I just want to say thanks to him, really. It is always good for a player when a manager believes in you.

“It gives you the belief to go out on the pitch and express yourself. I just want to pay him back and do my best to help the team.

“I feel like I belong. After last season, I feel a lot more comfortable now. I’m home, I’m playing for my club now.”

Not everything went smoothly for Moses during the 2016-17 campaign. Indeed, his final appearance could not have gone any worse.

It was bad enough that Chelsea missed out on the chance of winning the Double — losing 2-1 to Arsenal in the FA Cup Final — but Moses took a lot of the blame after being sent off for two yellow card offences, the second of which was for diving in the penalty area.

“That’s football,” he replied, when first asked about how he coped with the fallout from the incident. “We won the League and then played the FA Cup Final. Getting sent off? Things like that happen.

“You just have to get away from it for a while. I have moved on from that now and am concentrating on this season. What happened last season is in the past. I forget about the past and have moved on to the future.”

Given that Tottenham felt aggrieved at the manner in which Moses won a penalty in the Cup semi-final a month earlier, albeit assisted by a clumsy tackle by Heung-min Son, there is a danger that Moses could be getting a reputation for simulation.

But referee Anthony Taylor’s decision to send him off in the Final seems to have led to a change of thinking from the former winger.

“I have definitely learned from it,” he said. “In football you have to learn from everything, but everyone makes mistakes. I’m not the only one that has made a mistake.”

Given Zappacosta has been training with his team-mates for only a few days, Moses should start at Leicester when the club’s League campaign resumes tomorrow, following the international break.

The damage caused by Chelsea’s opening-day defeat to Burnley was repaired before the hiatus, with victories over Spurs and Everton.

Still, with the club returning to Champions League next week after a year’s absence, there are many challenges to come.

“It’s a different test but we are looking forward to it,” Moses said. “We missed out on the Champions League last season but we are back in it now. We have a strong team and will keep doing the best we can in all the competitions

“We are happy with the way the season has started, especially after what happened in the first game, when we had two players sent off. Apart from that, everything else is fine.

“We are enjoying our football. We beat Spurs and Everton and that has been massive for us.”

Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis will face off when Royal Excel Mouscron host top-of-the-table Club Brugge at Stade Le Canonnier. Awoniyi has scored one goal in three appearances for his new side and will hope to have his scoring boots on as they seek to end FCB’s 100% record in the league. Emmanuel Dennis has scored four goals in just three appearances and you won’t want to bet against him finding the back of the net when both sides clash.

Amkar finally got their first league win of the season last time out when they picked up a slender victory over Arsenal Tula away from home. Brian Idowu and his teammates host a seething CSKA Moscow who would be looking to respond from their shocking 1-0 loss to Akhmat Grozny. The Red and Blacks, though, are in high spirits following their first victory and will hope the backing of their fans at Zvezda Stadium sees them through the encounter as they seek a move off the foot of the table.

Odion Ighalo has had a good season for Changchun Yatai this season having scored 11 goals in 21 games. He’s scored three times in his last four appearances and will be looking to improve his goals return when his side travels to table-topping Guangzhou Evergrande. The Jilin-based club isn’t expected to come away with any sort of result at the Tianhe Stadium and will be out to disrupt the hosts’ march to the title.

This move would not benefit anybody except the Nigerian Football Federation. Abraham is a phenomenal young player. He should be setting his sights high on success with the England national team – the country of his birth – not strategically trying to win caps playing for a country he has at most visited on emotional vacations.

Na wa for this kind article.

AFCON timing has been shifted and the choice on whom to play for should be left for the player alone.

Tammy would be bullied to play for England senior team, it seems.

Anderlecht and Henry Onyekuru haven’t started the season as well as they’d have liked either. The defending champions have won just once in five league games and sit in 11th. Onyekuru meanwhile has failed to open his account for Sporting, and he will hope to get the monkey off his back when they face ninth-placed Lokeren hoping to move up the table.

Tiago Ilori is more experienced than Agbo and Awaziem.

We don't even have back up self.

Apart from Balogun and Ekong, which other CB do we have?

Has Ilori agreed to play for Nigeria? Awaziem is currently playing at a higher level.
