Has Ilori agreed to play for Nigeria? Awaziem is currently playing at a higher level.

Did we approach him to ascertain his stance?

Tiago Ilori already played there and is currently playing in the Championship which is equally or better than some leagues.

We know age is not on his side, he has lost a yard or two, but please....he is the best option we have right now.. Sad but true..

If you disagree, please name a natural left back of Nigerian origin, qualified to play for us, in any of the top 20 leagues in the world, [20 I mean expand the bracket] that will unseat ụwa. Rohr is no slouch, he knows what he is doing. He will continue to field the best we have, and right now ụwa is our best bet for a starting position atleft back... Show the dude some respect.

Disagree much give names.. And not make shift options.. Right now in the team we got Aina and Tyrone... Make shift options..... How did we even get here... I need to develop my left leg asap.. Lolz..... Or probably make a baby, force him to be a leftie with an eye on the left back position of the Eagles......

All am asking for is for ụwa to be shown some respect..... Cos he has held his own for years in the team.... And I can't remember any mistake he has done in recent games that cost us goals... Accept his limitations.. Uphold his strengths... We are a team...

PS..if ụwa gets injured before the world cup.. Then we are screwed.. SCREWED FROM ALL HOLES.. ASK KESHI AND THE LAST WORLD CUP WE PARTICIPATED.. peace I'm out.
I don't think anyone here is disrespecting elderson we are just pointing out his performances have been especially poor of late. You will agree that a national team that hopes to do well we can't continue to rely on one LB especially one who is not in form. Yes there aren't many natural left backs of Nigerian descent in top leagues but Aina can play makeshift and you can't tell me in the whole nigeria league you can't find a decent backup.

Yes his injury at the world cup was a loss but not a disaster like you are claiming we did ok without him with Juwon oshaniwa performing well elderson is ok but not indispensable

tbaba1234 thank you for the nice post on Gernot Rohr.

From the interview, I can see we have a very sound technical Adviser and team manager. Looks the right man to lead the team. His founding principles are solid and I think we the supporters need to buy into his philosophies. (I am also guilty of this)
He wants everyone to trust the decision of the team manager. I think that includes the fans and supporters.

A good point is that his scouting department are doing their best to monitor most of our players, especially during the weekends. He also wants the team flexible playing different styles and formations. Including the parked bus system I detest so much. He believes in a balance of youth and experience. So we should not expect him throwing any bright new shining object into the team. He will blend in players with time. Not rash and he will maintain a solid balance to the best of his ability.

He wants the team United along with the NFF. He believes in the team but wants us respecting every opponent. In football, anything can happen.

He still considers Enyeama a key member of the team but he might not rush Enyeama into the team. Also, Enyeama might not wear the captain band.

Nice interview that got us a chance to know the coach better.

lot of them..are currently waiting for an opportunity to shine and never let go...

so forget it...there is no LB that can't be replaced...probably you forgot aina nura and ebuehi can all play that role
Already stated that Aina and Tyrone are our options there... The question is are they good enough to displace him yet... Those kids are rookies on the international stage... Well based on current laws, the UK government do not grant citizenship to foreigners born in the UK. So his entire logic is flawed.

CHELSEA AND ENGLAND SHOULD OPPOSE NIGERIA’S TAMMY ABRAHAM PURSUIT

The latest rumours circulating about a young Chelsea player d[/b]o not deal with transfers or loans but with national team allegiance. If Nigeria are truly chasing Tammy Abraham, both England and Chelsea should be furious.

Tammy Abraham’s decision to play for either England or Nigeria matters deeply not only to the country he chooses, but to Chelsea FC as well. Whether you approach the question from logic or emotion, you reach the same very certain and very firm conclusion: Tammy Abraham should turn down every single advance from Nigeria and stick with England.

The first and most obvious point is that Tammy Abraham – though of Nigerian heritage – was born in Camberwell, London. He was born and raised and reared in the United Kingdom. Yes, his parents are of Nigerian heritage. But at what point does that stop mattering? Every person in the world can trace their bloodline back to some far-flung destination, yet that does not determine their nationality.

Abraham was born in London. He has been at Chelsea since he was eight years old. He did not move to England as a young boy. Tammy Abraham was born the second of October 1997 in perfect damn London, England. He is a wonderful young footballer and a funny, charming young man. He does not need to be peddled by some older, cynical managers and footballing bureaucrats in a strategic chess game of prospect-catching.

MUST READ: Chelsea's 3-4-3 alternatives: Is 3-1-4-2 the future for Antonio Conte's Blues?
The fact that Nigeria are even considering this is exactly what is wrong with international football in the first place. International football is not there to strategically pick your way to progress professionally, and it should not be about cynical attempts to further a brand. It is about pride in the country of your birth. Abraham is from England. Let him be from England.

It was wrong when Victor Moses changed nationalities, and when Diego Costa did it as well. This sort of behavior is to the detriment of the wonderful patriotic moments that make international football great.

If not simply for national pride, Chelsea should hope that Tammy Abraham plays for England for one simple reason: the African Cup of Nations. AFCON takes place in the middle of the Premier League season. If Tammy Abraham is going to be as good as people suspect he will be, then Chelsea need to keep him around.

RELATED STORY: Chelsea's Tammy Abraham must weigh depth, potential in Nigeria offer
Abraham draws comparisons to Ian Wright, and in younger age group trials outshone Kylian Mbappe. Abraham will make Harry Kane look like an incomplete and poor striker in a few years’ time, while taking a legitimate shot at Chelsea’s all-time goals record. The last thing Chelsea need is Abraham gone for a month and a half during a key part of the season.

AFCON is a wonderful footballing tournament played at a hysterically terrible time of year. In many ways it devalues some of the footballers in it, and makes it harder for some clubs to invest in them. Having Abraham play for Nigeria simply lowers his value for Chelsea FC. They will not have him around as often while he increases his risk of injury by playing in a full international tournament in less-than-spectacular conditions in the middle of a Premier League and Champions League season.

NEXT: Chelsea should start Tiemoue Bakayoko against Leicester as prep for Champions League
This move would not benefit anybody except the Nigerian Football Federation. Abraham is a phenomenal young player. He should be setting his sights high on success with the England national team – the country of his birth – not strategically trying to win caps playing for a country he has at most visited on emotional vacations.

In reference to "make shift options", Rohr said in his interview that players cannot give conditions like they must be played in a specific position. Shehu is not a natural RB

With the fore knowledge that shehu has been playing RB for us for like forever... I will comfortably tag him a right back... Well the interview only reiterates the fact that Aina and Tyrone are the options for LB n RB in the team.... My point is this bashing of ụwa should stop just because we have got a shiny new toy....

FFS! Chelsea need to get Ola Aina out of that shitty Hull City team ASAP.Thank God Ahmed Musa and Isaac Success did not move there. Aina dished out pinpoint perfect crosses but their shitty forwards still could not convert any of it.Worst of all,Aina darted into the penalty area making a meal of 2 derby players and won a penalty in the process when his team were still 1 goal behind but the player who took the penalty blasted it over the bar.Chelsea have a recall clause in his loan agreement so they should recall him ASAP before negative vibes start affecting him.

This is an unbelievably poor piece of writing - too superficial and even it's appeal to emotional factors aims more at manipulation and shameless scare tactics rather than advancing sound reasons for Tammy to play for England rather than Nigeria. I am a fan of the SE and the Three Lions but I love my Eagles and desire we field the peak of the best we have when we qualify for the World Cup. But I wish the young man the best whoever he eventually chooses.

Playing time is essential in a player's development but not when the club you are getting the play time is shitty and are always conceeding 5 goals in every matches. You know,it doesn't help his confidence.Agree with you though, he wont get the playing time at chelsea but he can still be loaned to a better team in January.Honestly,i just feel for the lad.

Lol... I don't do stats, they are most times misleading, but you came under the false assumptions that Tiago Ilori is a better choice for CB than Awaziem and Agbo, citing his "experience'.

A deep look at this claim proves it to be false. One simply does not garner experience sitting on the bench which is what Ilori has been doing.

9games for Granada, 12 for Bordeaux, 0 for Aston Villa can hardly be termed playing from Portugal to Spain to France.

As you probably know the left back position has progressed to the more commonly referred to term LWB (left wing back).

As a consequence left wingers have fused into the LWB position. As it is essentially a more defensive minded winger.

With this in mind I would say Seyi Ojo Liverpool fc currently at Fulham fc with Sone Aluko.

Point of correction, 15 games for Bordeaux, 14 for Sporting Lisbon, 3 for Liverpool and currently 12 for Reading-fc. grin

Where did he play them? In Somalia? grin

Now, show me how easy it is to say Agbo and Awaziem better choice or experienced than Tiago. grin

Give me their breakdown as you did for Tiago. grin

On a personal note, is Sheyi Ojo interested in playing for Nigeria.

He didn't sit on the bench but was always out due to injuries.

Tiago Ilori is more experienced than Agbo and Awaziem.

We don't even have back up self.

Apart from Balogun and Ekong, which other CB do we have?

Why are you mentioning Tiago Ilori?
what's special about him?? He would have played for Portugal senior team had his move to Liverpool been successful.
it's not every player with Nigerian heritage that we should be calling to play for us na. Let's preserve some dignity please.
