Do you know how many of those people that sweep with brooms have died due to hit run drivers?
Can you tell which country in the world use broom to sweep road. This is a goood thing, must we still remain the way if our forefathers by using broom to sweep the highway taken into consideration the hazard involved ?
MasterRahl:
So Nigerians should take up sweeping of roads as an ambition or a source of livelihood? Besides, does the machine operate itself? Is that not a human being inside that truck? Is that not a form of employment? Or would you prefer the youths use brooms and waste baskets?

U'll are comparing a single person, driving a single vehicle to sweep a portion normally swept by 10pple as employment?

10families making money to 1family making money?

We are in a recession! It means there is no money in circulation. Pple are not earning enough, so they dont buy enough n coys cant deliver goods/services enough n as such dont need staff to attend to more clients! And d circle goes on!

Cars kill pple everyday! What govt should do, is to provide safety equipments n insist/monitor use!

Less privilege in movies n civilised countries can get welfare n food tickets n govt subsidies n scholarships n student loans. We dont have all that over here! Nothing to support d dredges of society. Sweeping d streets, is a lifeline!

Unfortunately, parochial youths who can't see how they are deprived of EMPLOYMENT opportunities by this reckless expenditure that is not sustainable due to inadequate technical skills to maintain them.
Unfortunate.

And you think you've made sense? Why not we just reject jets and go back to traveling with donkeys to create more jobs? you know only 2 pilots transport 200 people at once when 100 donkey riders could have done the job carrying 2 people each?!!

Do you know how many road sweepers get killed by deranged drivers in lagos every year?!!

Wtf are nigerians smoking?! U cant comment in peace, it must be due to some underlying hatred?! Are u guys truely educated?! U cant put me thru then see if I will reply with hatred before judging me?! U're into street cleaning, since u know so much abt them, or still job seeking!?

Nigeria, without any maintenance culture, esp in a recession dont need to outsource jobs!? Buy/use naija!

But, deep in me, I see this initiative as a means to siphon funds!? If it was altruistic, why did d govt cancel d existing contract of d waste contractors n award d contract to a brandnew coy?! Made me suspicious of d Ambode govt.

If u must, tackle me with facts n info not throw shades! Some of us cant have wool pasted over our eyes! We're born cynics!

The sweeping machines were spotted on Apapa-Oshodi Expressway and Agege Motor Road at night.
