This Reno Omokri is the biggest fool to have come out of Nigeria. He has refused to be reasonable and unbias. Ranting from away Nigeria, is nuisance. We have to stop giving him audience so he will stop feeling important. Ewu. |

Last year, the 5 biggest US tech companies -- Alphabet, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, and Microsoft -- spent a combined $49m on Washington lobbyists, while the 5 biggest US banks spent just $19.7m. This illustrates the dramatic shift that’s taken place under the Obama administration, as “the revolving door with [tech] companies is spinning ever faster -- as it once did with Wall Street.” The power and influence of tech firms during the Obama government is unprecedented so says The Hustle. Throughout Obama two terms at The White House, 183 people that worked under him were hired by Google, while 58 Google employees left Google to work for him. That’s a lot of overlap! And it’s not just the Google. Former Attorney General, Eric Holder, works at Airbnb now, Obama’s former campaign manager took a job at Uber. _______________________________________ NOW...... Can we breathe in for a moment and ask where Nigeria's former ministers and top government functionaries are working presently. The dilemma of Nigeria is that in the last three decades, we have had a situation whereby men and women without a second address found themselves in the corridors of power. Once out of power, they are out of job, and out of meaningful work. That is why a man who led a state as Governor for eight years will still lobby hard and mess himself up in the process just to be appointed a Senior Special Adviser to the President. Or even a junior minister. Some will just take anything as long as it comes with an official car, a Police Orderly and a pilot vehicle with siren upfront. After eight years as Governor? Years ago, we had an interview with the late President of Zambia Levi Nwanawasa. From the Presidential Palace, he pointed out his Law Chambers at one of the prominent buildings in Lusaka, and told us that 48 hours after leaving office, he will dust up his wig and head to work at his chambers. Nigeria's bane is the preponderance of professional politicians. Men and women who do not have a second address after political office. That is why we are paying 109 Senators, and 360 members of House of Representatives heavily to sit and make laws for us. Yet in 365 days a year, majority of them sit for less than 35 days. Why shouldn't we have a part time legislature where we pay only sitting and transport allowances? Why must we bring 414 men and women and their families to Abuja and pay them so dangerously and stupidly well that their living habits end up distorting the market of virtually every sector and every item in Abuja. We have even created an industry out of the National Assembly. A humongous consumerist class that add nothing to the growth of this economy. Can you point out up to 60 former Senators or members of the House of Reps from 1999 to 2015 that are gainfully employed in a value creating wealth creating venture? Or even the governors, and their deputies?? Leaders that can't even write a 50 page book to document their experience in leadership so that those coming after them may learn. Leaders who can't write books.......that is the worst kind of leaders anywhere in the world because they were not even conscious of the decisions they took while in office, so how will they recollect. Until majority of our politicians are drawn from among wealth creators. This country will not move forward." 2 Likes |

madridguy: Aniefok Udoabasi wrote: Boko haram is deadly. They are armed to the teeth. They have killed military men in their hundreds. They have killed civilians in their tens of thousands. They have burned down houses and villages. They have burned down churches and mosques. They have threatened to blow up Nigeria. They even blew up the United Nations building in Abuja. YET, Northern elders/leaders, including Buhari, opposed any attempt by the military to invade any Northern community as a result of boko haram's presence. Northern elders, again and again, asked the government to withdraw the army from Borno ,the headquarters of boko haram. In fact, Buhari publicly said that it was wrong for the military to move against boko haram. He specifically said that any attack against boko haram should be viewed as an attack against the North as a whole. I'm not talking about a century or even a decade ago. I am talking about a few years ago. ALSO, Lai Mohammed, speaking for APC ,Buhari's party, said that it was wrong for the government to label boko haram as an unlawful organisation. This was immediately after the Nigerian government had declared boko haram an unlawful organization. APC said that declaring boko haram an unlawful organization in Nigeria is unconstitutional . I also remember that when the United States government wanted to declare boko haram a terrorist organisation, the North vehemently opposed it. The Sultan of Sokoto led the opposition. He openly canvassed that the USA should not label boko haram a terrorist organisation. Only CAN ,as led by pastor Ayo ,canvassed for the United States to pencil boko haram down as a terrorist organisation. I remember that when pastor Ayo traveled to the United States to lobby its government to declare boko haram a terrorist organisation, he was ridiculed by Northern leaders for daring to cause their boko haram to be called a terrorist organisation. THE POINT IS: If an organization as murderous and satanic like boko haram could have northern leaders and APC leaders, including Buhari, as open supporters, why should the unarmed and harmless civilians in the south East not be supported and protected? Why are southern leaders acting dumb? Why are south East governors behaving like house boys? Nnamdi Kanu, hate him or love him, has not killed a single soul. You may be irritated by the conduct of some of his followers ,but the fact remains that they are not armed. They have not burned communities, have not blown up mosques or churches. They are just a group armed with social media and a radio station. And yet you say that the army should clamp down ,attack and kill them. Same you who said that boko haram should not be attacked because that would mean an attack against the North! Same you who said that boko haram should not be declared an unlawful organization by the Nigerian government! Same you who pleaded that boko haram should not be declared a terrorist organisation by the United States government! Shame on you. |

SladeWilson: You are the person whom is un-informed. The Nigerian government has never labelled Fulani herdsmen as a terrorist group. During the Jonathan Administration, the Nigerian government tried to label Boko haram a terrorist group, but it was fiercely resisted by the APC, Arewa consultative forum and Buhari. Infact, even Boko Haram sought a cease fire and a faction of Boko haram sought to discuss amnesty and even nominated Buhari to negotiate on their behalf, though he refused. |
