Ex-Zambia Star Malitoli: Chipolopolo Can Beat Super Eagles Like We Beat Algeria
By James Agberebi

Former Zambian international Mordon Malitoli is confident the current Chipolopolo team have what it takes to beat the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Uyo on matchday five of the FIFA 2018 World Cup Russia qualifier in October 7.

The Eagles lead African qualifying Group B on 10 points, three points ahead of second-placed Zambia who are on seven points.
Speaking to Fazfootball.com Malitoli urged the players not to be intimidated by the profile of some of the Super Eagles players who play in big European leagues.

“I think we should believe that we can beat Nigeria,” Malitoli, who played against the Super Eagles in the final of the Tunisia 1994 Africa Cup of Nations which Zambia lost 2-1, said.

“We have a good mix of youth, local players and foreign-based players. This is very good because these are players that want to prove that they can represent the country well.

“The same way we beat Algeria, we can beat Nigeria. The players just need to believe that they can overcome and then it will be done.

“Let the players not be intimidated by players in top clubs. Remember that we won the Africa Cup of Nations against big teams with star players. We will have to fight as a unit to beat Nigeria.”

Malitoli said that the players should be motivated by the possibility of featuring at the FIFA World Cup for the first time.

He added: “If we beat Nigeria at their home then it means the chances of going to Russia are very open. That should motivate the players to take their chance and beat Nigeria. We have to prepare very well for this game because it will be very tough.”
Zambia defeated Algeria home and away in early September but the SuperEagles defeated Chipolopolo 2-1 in Ndola in their first meeting in the group stage in October 2016.

Very Well done Olayinka, the assists master..... Keep soaring lad

Peter Olayinka Named Zulte Waregem Player Of The Month

Former Nigeria U23 invitee Peter Olayinka has been named S.V. Zulte Waregem's Player of the Month for August 2017 on the back of his performances for the Belgium First Division A outfit.

Record Bank, who have a shirt sponsorship deal with S.V. Zulte Waregem, are the sponsors of the award for the best player.

During the period under review, Olayinka contributed to four goals scored by Zulte Waregem in the Belgian top-flight.

The 21-year-old scored once and provided two assists in his team's 4-0 rout of Standard Liege on August 18, before finding the net in a 3-2 loss to RSC Charleroi eight days later.

The attacker started all the four matches contested by S.V. Zulte Waregem in the league in August, logging 354 minutes.
S.V. Zulte Waregem announced the loan signing of Peter Olayinka from Gent in July.

Sirs Komekn and SuperNerd, please sheath the swords. Let us be civil when addressing issues "passionately".
I beseech you all.
On this Iheanacho matter, let us understand onr fact that he is just coming out of a bad season, an injury to the toe and more importantly, new team mates with whom he is yet to bond, or even have understanding of the workings of the team. Last weekend's match was his first start and I want to believe he gave a good account of himself. As much as I like to disagree with super enthusiasts like sir GoodJoe, truth is he is right in some sense as per the team Iheanacho now finds himself. This team is set up with a primary focus of not comceding goals as against scoring. Scoring seems to be a bonus to their setup.

With that in mind, how do we expect Iheanacho to find his footing so quick when he hasn't even gotten the right vibe from other players? There has to be a level of understanding between himself and the other team mates with different attitude and need to win. This is what is lacking in the leicester team. The coach wants to play it safe, hence the "find Jamie Vardie " football pholosophy, whether you are clearing the ball from inside your penalty area, or throw in or any. Seems all shots at goal has to be by Vardy.

When Iheanacho gets going, he will also need the cooperation of Vardy (who I would deem pretty selfish) and Mahrez who is increasingly becoming Leicester's version of Mesuit Ozil. We all want what is best for our boy, hence the noise we make about hime getting game time. Iheanacho is quality, no doubt! Allow him at least 15 starts and then we can come and reassess. Afterall he is not gonna take the ball from the goal keeper and dribble his way all the way to the opponents goalpost and score a hat trick each time.

An example of what is happening can be seen in everton. That team makes Wayne Rooney look like a mediocre. Let us hope for a formidable partnership between Vardy, Iheanacho and Mahrez. Otherwise, all Iheanacho will be doing is passing the final balls to Vardy to tuck home. Final word, its too early to castigate Iheanacho, Our Iheanacho and label him a flop. One day at a time peeps, .... one day at a time.

I think, he has improved a lot already. His major problem is that he panics sometimes and gives the ball away. He is getting more confident.

In football you are only as good as your last game.

A year in football is like ancient history, two years is archived and three years your totally forgotten.

That is why you could be valued £100million one season have a poor season and you could be worth £20 million.

Since Ilori came to Liverpool he has done nothing he has been overtaken by boys who were 7/ 8 years younger than him. In near 4 years at Liverpool he has played 3 token cup games. You are referring to ancient history of 4/5 years ago in Portugal. I have watched him train at Kirby and play several U23 Games, firstly, he lacks the athleticism and strength required for the EPL even the Championship, consider that he has played over near two seasons in the Championship but just 12 games for Reading. That means Stamp does not rate him at all and its really a waste of money.

Compare him to Domonic Iorfa first team regular for Ipswich over a hundred games in the championship ,add to that Iorfa is just 22, 2 years younger but way more experienced to summarise, them no be mate at all.

1, Tiago Ilori played the full match against Fulham in the championship playoff semi final on the 16th may 2017. Is 2017 history? cheesy

2, In 25th may 2017, Tiago Ilori played full match against Huddersfield in Wembley stadium. How can Stamp play someone he doesn't rate in such crucial matches? shocked grin

3, Ask Salah, Lukaku, Bryan etc what Chelsea termed them while in Chelsea. Flops!!!!!!!! grin

So, that one no be new thing.

4, Bhuaha! Comparing hundred games in Championship with almost hundred games in the Portuguese, Spanish and ligue 1 is embarrassment to football. Walahiii!!!! grin

Onyekuru Loses Coach As Anderlecht Sack Weiler

Super Eagles striker Henry Onyekuru’s coach at Anderlecht, Rene Weiler, has been sacked, the Belgian club announced in a statement on Monday.

Weiler took charge at Anderlecht after a two-year spell with German Bundesliga 1. side, FC Nürnberg in 2016.

Former Switzerland international Weiler won 36, drew 16 and lost 44 of his 96 matches in charge of Anderlecht.

Onyekuru, who has scored three goals in six appearances, will now receive instructions from Thomas Binggeli, who will be assisted by Nicolas Frutos and David Sesa temporarily.

The 20-year-old Onyekuru is on a season-long loan deal from Everton.

Binggeli’s first game in charge of the team will be against Westerlo in the Belgian Cup game before their UEFA Champions League clash against Scottish side, Celtic.

Anderlecht are ninth in the Belgian topflight division with nine points from seven games.

A statement on Anderlecht’s official website thanked Weiler who guided the club to their 34th league title last season – “for his commitment, his services and his professionalism”.

Liverpool Coach Pleased With Solanke's Contribution Against Burnley

England U20 World Cup star Dominic Solanke has earned praise from Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp for his performance against Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday after coming off the bench.

Liverpool could have snatched all three points but the former Chelsea wonderkid hit the bar from close range in the 85th minute.

''It's exciting, absolutely exciting. I'm really happy to have him around. He's a wonderful kid, that's how it is," Klopp told reporters.

"He takes the minutes - each minute - as an opportunity. That's the benefit of [his] age.

"When you are this age and you didn't play so often in the Premier League then it's a Premier League game in the stats, whether it's one minute, two minutes, it's five, it's 20. He doesn't care too much about this.

"You can see this, he's full of joy and quality, it was nice to see.''
This season, Solanke has recorded three appearances off the bench for the Reds, whereas he did not play a single game for Chelsea in the Premier League before he departed the club in the summer.

VVV Venlo Expert Highlights Qualities Of Arsenal Loanee Nwakali

Nigeria U20 international Kelechi Nwakali has impressed in his two appearances for VVV Venlo in the Dutch Eredivisie, and the attacking midfielder is in line to make his full debut for the Limburg based club sooner rather than later.

VVV Venlo expert Hans Straus of Dutch newspaper De Limburger reckons that the Arsenal loanee has the attributes needed to help VVV Venlo succeed this season.

''Nwakali came in on the 75th minute. He is strong on the ball, strong passing and calm under pressure,'' Hans Straus told
allnigeriasoccer.com .

''He is on the verge of a debut as a starting player.''

Last season, Kelechi Nwakali was one of Arsenal's most consistent loanees while defending the colours of MVV Maastricht, but has been loaned out again because of his inability to obtain a work permit.

The 19-year-old scored on his competitive debut for VVV against Groningen on September 10.

Wolfsburg sack manager after four matches

Wolfsburg have announced they have sacked head coach Andries Jonker after just four league games this season.
Ads by Kiosked

The Bundesliga outfit slipped to a 1-0 defeat away to Stuttgart on Saturday and are now only two points above the relegation places after winning one of their opening four matches.

Wolfsburg have only managed to score two goals so far this season and have taken the decision to sack Jonker after just seven months in charge.

“Decisive for us in taking this step at this point in time was not just the impression made upon us during the game against Stuttgart, but rather based upon the perception of stagnated development amongst the team, which was to a great extent newly formed during the summer,” a statement read on the club’s official website.

“We expressly wish to thank Andries Jonker and his coaching staff, for rescuing VfL’s position in the top-flight at the last minute at the end of last season.

“The decision to make a change of head-coach at this early stage of the season wasn’t easy for any of us. However, during our internal consultations, we ultimately came to the conclusion that we wish to approach the task with a newly formed coaching-team.”

I think he actually meant AM. There isn't much of a distinction though. I think as a CM one should be a good holder and distributor of the ball. Somewhere midway between an AM and a Holding Midfielder. Iwobi has improved in his ball holding capability.

Of course he is known for his good passes

I believe Iwobi can make a good central midfielder. That is, playing as a deep lying playmaker. Just as Nuri Sahin does.
