Bows and doffs his hat....

Nice meeting you Sir!

Quite new in my Undergraduateship of the course.

Hmm, please I"ll prefer a colleague -based relationship! Everyone has to start from somewhere, it's not as if I'm there yet either. Hope you're finding it interesting at school?

Okay bro... About starting the mechanical itself but ASUU is putting us on hold in that aspect.

Thanks!

okay... let's create a whatsapp group for this.

i am pretty sure you wont regret it.

Compressor is for air and pump is for liquid. The compressed air can also be used to pump liquid e.g a Ship's Hydrophore system works on that aspect.

let me narrow it that way, sir!

not really. It depends on the institution you are applying

Nice one, compressors are used to increase the pressure of gases while pumps are used for the same purpose in liquids.

In ships hydrophore system however, compressed air is not used to pump liquid, an hydrophore pump(a kind of centrifugal pump) is used. What compressed air does is to provide head pressure above the liquid surface, head pressure ensures that water gets to the highest possible level.

Compressed air builds head pressure , so that water can reach up to highest level and remote places.

Not all schools require fmaths...as far as I know only Unilag insists on fmaths to study any engrng course. Although it is very important that you have a good knowledge of fmaths, you"ll find it immensely helpful.

Cheers!

Two Stroke Engine has no valves but uses ports. Cams control the opening and closing of the valves-timing. How come some two stroke engines have cams and what are the cams used for? What type of two stroke engine is that?

i just say make i try ni.

Wow, intriguing!

Let's start from here; some two stroke engines use valves, an example is the marine two stroke diesel engine. In this type of engine the cam on the camshaft controls fuel injection and valve timing. Generally, 2 stroke diesel engines have exhaust valve(poppet valves)(may not use cams, though).

Let's learn from you!

Lols....we are engineers ooo not mechanics.... that's what they call road side car technicians

Idle strokes: intake/induction stroke, compression stroke and exhaust stroke.

non idling: power stroke

Mechanics(set in motion by a force)

Hello Engineers, I've created a thread for us, it's called "engineers and aspiring engineers chat room"

Cheers....

So i came accross a thread for med students irrespective of the school created by Dr lagusta
i love that thread
unfortunately i am going for engineering
so am just wondering if such threads exist
for engineers
it wud truly b helpful.
Thanks
