I purchased two ebay gift cards worth of $500 each at 280,000 from toluxa1 on 16th September, but I was not able to use the card t due to unavailability of the us address to ship to. I tried using the two cards this morning but I saw a response that there is no balance on the two cards, I contacted him regarding this but he said there was no way for him to be sure that I haven't used the cards. To avoid prolonging issue I called ebay support and I was told the cards balance has been frozen and I will need to provide the required documents for them to refund the card balance, I told him and even attached screenshot of the email I got regarding the issue. I have asked for a full refund of the 280,000 I paid him but he is still insisting on not refunding my money.

Alright, so I think it is only fair that I give my own side and perspective to this issue. So 3 days ago, Blym bought two $500 Ebay gift cards as he said. As is my usual practice, I checked the card right before sending to him, all fine and sent. He acknowledged receipt and that was all. Yesterday I sent him a message to make an inquiry on something else and he informed me he has not even used the card he bought and said he was going to use it that same yesterday. I was surprised and decided to do a check again on the card cos it was strange he kept it since day before yesterday morning and didn't use, I checked and truly, the value was still there. This afternoon he sent me a message saying there was zero balance in the GCs. I checked, indeed there was zero (which occurs when a card has been used). Now we spent virtually the entire day going back and forth. Wish I can post screenshots but it will occupy way too much area. His accusation was that I most likely used the card which I made categorically clear CAN NEVER HAPPEN. Only a scammer will go behind and use a GC sold to a customer and I am no scammer. I cannot sell gift card finish and keep monitoring it and babysitting the gift card till whenever the buyer feels like using it.

We have been doing business together since last year and I advised as two matured people, let us try to solve the issue amicably. He refused and insisted on total and full refund or he comes on nairaland to "destroy my reputation" bla bla. He kept threatening me with nairaland and I eventually asked me to go ahead if that suits him best. I never respond well to threats! There are so many things and ways we could have worked together to try to solve the issue first. You can't buy gift card from me, come back after 3 days and say refund.

At this point he had not even shown me any proof to show he didn't use the card. Later this evening after he had posted on nairaland, he posted screenshot of Ebay's email to him requested for details of the card (physical card picture and purchase receipt). He also sent a call record where Ebay told him the card was frozen and they could help him unfreeze it once he provides the card picture and receipt, ALL OF WHICH I SENT TO HIM FROM THE BEGINNING. He claimed to be very much involved with Gift cards and knows the risks involved. There is a reason most people request for GC with physical picture and receipt. I have sent all these to him already, as a matter of fact it is part of what was paid for. So if Ebay is requesting these from you, why not send it to them. I'd have been more than happy to guide and go through this process with him but all he was shouting on Whatsapp is refund or reputation. There was no single point when/where I categorically stated I am not refunding (and I am not saying I am refunding), several times I told him, let us agree on an amicable solution, he refused.

Summary,
1.I cannot issue you a refund right away. 2. The sensible thing to do is to respond to Ebay by providing them what they have requested to unfreeze the GC, if he had asked me to help him do this from this start, i'd have been more than happy to help. He has already contacted them so I cannot contact them for same card again, my advice is follow through with that you have started. 3. There are still a couple more steps that can be taken and if all else fails, we can begin to talk about how to go about a refund. This is common sense! Not threatening me with nairaland, nairaland doesn't feed me nor pay my bills!
