I notice you guys militarise your private crime fighting response almost to the extent of a paramilitary GSU type gendarme! Is it a political thing or is your crime that bad? From these pics many of these companies could serve as an unofficial army reserve!

It's the crime. The criminals are as hard, in fact the criminals have better weapons. The security companies can only use semi automatic rifles.

In a case of a business robbery, the private security companies are likely to respond first before the Police so they have to be prepared as the ish can go down. Some companies even use APCs like Mambas to patrol and respond.

And your confusing of an Mi-26 and an Mi-8, exemplifies Nigerian foolishness at its finest.

Ya goddamn potato.
Don't play his game mate. He wants this to be SA and Nigeria so he won't be held personally accountable for his nonsense.
He does this all the time when caught or called out for BS. It's South Africa or if his interlocutor is Nigerian, they lack self-esteem/ are un-patriotic or supporters of a certain party etc.

All to deflect and evade personal responsibility.

We haven't paid enough attention to mortars, the basis of organic infantry support. Thanks to edited news clips and movie bs most have no idea the damage a SINGLE 120 mm mortar impact has. As the pic shows its roughly a 60 meter radius.!

In the SANDF, mortars are bread and butter of the infantry. Bases have them, the Ratel has a 60mm version called the Ratel 60 as well as the 81mm version, the new Denel Badger has a mortar turret, the Special Forces have a dedicated mortar Hornet vehicle they use for "behind the enemy lines assaults". Even parabats just with a knee mortar.

I often wonder how a good number of African forces deploy without mortar.

You See everything you ve just listed. Those are the kind of nonsense equipment that would make France very happy to side with the Cameroonians. All those rusty Nigerian Navy Coast Guard assets. If France find out that it will suffer little or no casualties by siding with the Cameroonians then it would. You think France would be scared of Roland Anti aircraft systems? That would even make France want to fly it's planes over our airspace. Dropping bombs on everything we love and cherish. I personally wish they would start the stu#id ship house at Abuja.where all the stu#id defence procurement decisions are made and where all the thieves that have compromised our national security over time are sitting sipping tea and getting fat. I know an attack from a very capable outside force is what these stupid politicians need to know that national security is not guaranteed by years and years of looting defence money. National security should not be a question of if? It should be a question of when ?
Imagine see the stu#id things that a citizen of an oil producing nation is listing as very "powerfull". You never see. When the time comes all the lies that you guys try to convince yourself with here would just be some disturbing statement on history pages too hard a mistake to ignore by the young generation whose future we ve battered for our selfish interest. You want to invade Cameroon? You think nations don't take their national security seriously? You think France will sit back and watch you use your rusted Cold War era planes and equipment to bring down one of her most prosperous strong old in SSA? weldone sir.

no offense dude you're being unnecessary absurd ,wah you mean france siding with Cameroonians ?? like in war or something ?? aside from their rifale ahbi na waytin em dey call am ,what good air superior advantage will the have over our airspace??

dude I dunno if your Nigeria citizenship got revoke,or maybe worse ,So we'll just stay on stand by while France raid our air space shey??

who says Nigeria has no defense strategy in case the in expectable happens ,try visiting Nigeria armory in abuja before you conclude if Nigeria is defenseless against France ,rubbish!

Stop celebrating mediocrity Oga ow come u mentioned just Abuja? Ow many of our national vital assets are based in Abuja?... We lack a comprehensive air defense system which is abysmal and really pathetic with our fire brigade approach method of doing things, in an air attack over portharcourt, Lagos, Calabar or even Benue states ow many lives, infrastructures and critical military bases would have being laid to ruins before we kick back? what is the responsive defense system would be in place to repel? Try telling urself the truth being patriotic does mean sounding plainly dumb! Take d log off ur eyes brother Go back and read what that brother said simply the plain truth, it's peeps like u that make our politheivcians and previous top military brass look amazing over nothing achieved!

That's a Patmor (patrol mortar) Very bad practice to call it a knee mortar for obvious reasons.

Most SADF units (MECH and MOT) used them. Excellent weapon. We used it for illumination, HE, and target marking. An experienced gunner can consistently drop 60mm bombs on a tank size target at 500+ meters. My platoon patmor crew could put 6 in the air before the first one dropped. We could spread a lot of ammo throughout the platoon, because the rounds were so small.
Its very usefull for a platoon commander to have a indirect fire weapon in his toolbox.

The difference with Egypt is the gov is controlled by the military so the military is in control over their national budget. What you also forgot to tell is that Egypt is in a region where there's been constant military conflicts, including the fact that they have a neighbor who has no regard for sovereignty. Egypt is also being militarily propped up by the US and rich regional powers who regards Egypt as there fail safe.

I agree with you,
Never the less, they are way over any African military....Even Nigeria and South Africa combine.

Yes in terms of hardware they are 5-10 years ahead of all african nations, but interms of indigenous manufacturing and R&grin I beg to differ because they lack in that regard compared to SA. Military Industrial Complex is Egypts achilles heel presently.

Oga, the gentleman didn't tell you about other bases close to the border. He only mentioned the one he has been to. Were you expecting him to start making crazy statement like the guy he quoted? There is Mogadishu cantonment in Asokoro, Abuja and that is the base he was referring to.

You clearly have no clue that wars are not won by Assets. They're won by money. Can Egypt's economy sustain a war against Africa's two biggest Economies? Egypt survives because of the large aid it receives.

I suspect the problem may be that people are forgetting it's mostly an "exercise" than an "operation". CPX and FTX scenarios, with relevant units likely to be tasked to real-world missions should the need arise.
Oh well, so the Nigerian def attache presented it to my colleagues on the West Africa desk.

My brother biko don't try to convince people who have no iota of the doctrine of war. For them is all the shiny toys they see on TV or nairaland most of which will be rust bucket and rust metal when they make first contact with the enemy. Imagine the archaic statement of Egypt gaining air superiority over a country like Nigeria in 48hrs. Egyptian pilots that have been known to be cowardly in the face of real combat. For the naysayers we have no "radar, no early warning system, the Roland's are toothless...". Even Sudan and Ethiopia have been considered no go areas by the Nile Arabs. People forget you can actually buy trouble.

Exactly Weapons don't necessarily win wars. Other factors are involved.
