A state like Lagos needs borrowing for massive infrastructural development, and I believe you and I can witness the dividend of well spent (debt) on infrastructure, it's also possible that some states may have borrowed less cos they don't really know what they can spend money on that will better the live of their people and even generate more IGR for their state. Thumbs up Lagos State, we all know the in coming years the IGR will be triple.
Lagos State is capable of servicing its debt but what some of us are searching for are the infrastructure where the loans were spent on. From what I know heavy projects like Eko Atlantic, Dangote Refinery even Banana Island are privately engineered, I know the loans Dangote and the rest took from EXIM Banks are not among the $$Billions Lagos is indebted to. What the private sectors need from Lagos Government as it stands is just neat roads and probably regulations. Do we have the roads that justify such "monstrous" debt? Maybe a km of road in Lagos costs N5 Billion.

actually bro most of those projects have some aspects where the government is involved

I think especially the eco Atlantic city project. I think that is where the majority of the foreign money borrowed goes, the money borrowed from the Chinese

The lagos state government also have this massive infrastructure development project program that started in the last years of tinubu. The massive improvement in transportation sector comes to mind e.g. the brt, ultra modern roads and bridges and let us not forget the construction of the rail track

Anambra, no bailout funds, low debt profile and yet no civil servant is being owed salaries. Willie Obiano for president!

Anambrarians want to replace him with Thieves, that's why I like Lagos, they have an eye for exceptional leaders.

The truth is, Anambra state will attract a whole lot of unprecedented economic growth and general development if the government will turn it's attention towards Nnewi town.

Massive infrastructural investments in Nnewi are what the government needs to do.
-dualize the major roads, construct a flyover, repair the deteriorating roads, finish the shopping mall, restructure and invest in Nkwo Nnewi.

Anambra state needs an airport situated at Nnewi if it is to attain great economic heights.

Anambra needs Nnewi in order to achieve unimaginable economic development.
Sadly, successive state government administration's have conveniently ignored this.

It is a pity!
Obiano didn't do much on road infrastructure in Anambra Central and South, it is not only Nnewi problem. Since, he's postured that timely opening up of Anambra East/West is the key to Anambra future, which is understandable giving the Oil and gas, flat farming grade soils, and flat land for the Airport city. I expected him to also touch a few economically important roads in the other Senatorial Zones while attending to the hitherto neglected Anambra North.

please mr lecturer
Please can you explain how officials in lagos have embezzle the entire money they borrowed

Plus where in the report did you see that lagos borrowed at 23%

Do you know states in nigeris issue bonds and most countries in Africa borrow from the infrastructure bank of china to finance certain projects

Mr Stupid, I never said Lagos borrowed at 23%, rather I was trying to explain how public debt is good for development. Secondly, I also did not say the Lagos officials embezzled the money they borrowed. If you cant comprehend what others write, shut your pie hole.

I don't like to insult anyone here, so I won't waste my time insulting you

If you can comprehend as much as you think you can, then you will realize your response to the initial post you quoted was not appropriate

Your explanation was not necessary or suited to the context of the post you quoted.

Hence, just like many people here I interpreted your post on the basis of the comment you quoted

Perhaps, you need to learn how to hold decent conversations

Nb; this is will be the last response you will get from me

So far, how much has these Oil & Gas, Grade Soils, and supposed airport has contributed to Anambra? Let's face facts: Nnewi commands more small & medium sized enterprises, employment, etc after Onitsha. Peter Obi neglected Nnewi, Obiano is doing the same, this is the reason why our constitution must change to allow states and their cities to be independent of each other.

Bolustical:

Tinubu's years of 'mismanagement' has made Lagos the 5th largest economy in Africa,

At least, you cannot compare it with the years of 'judicious spendings' of Orji Uzor Kalu, T.A Orji, Sam Egwu, Martin Elechi,

Tinubu's 'mismanagement' has made the likes of Evans desert the SE for more money in Lagos,

In fact, his 'mismanagement' caused Akwa Ibom government to go against the will of its people by planning to build a 21 storey mansion in Lagos,

Down deep in your heart, we know you want such 'mismanagement' in your state.

Based on your analysis...if Lagos was a country....and with the debt profile ..her currency would be worthless

IMF would be knocking...he who holes borrowing goes sorrowing
