twinskenny: 1) The distributor himself may not know. 2) In my case my electrician took me to the sellers shop. I used my best knowledge to decide if honesty was being practiced. I can’t go back and complain. 3) Time is money. Your client may be focused on making bigger money than be embattled with this. Besides the factory said it’s okay. Here, it’s the factory and LEO that would go after the distributor. And they would. |

twinskenny: That was why i bought directly from their office. I couldn't buy 4mm and 16mm because i needed in meter quantities. They told me if you want to be sure its Coleman, there is a specific weight. I want to buy 16mm recline, i got the quote but am not sure its for the 4 core that i want. I will definitely not buy outside. |

spyder880:There is no literature that even remotely suggests the use of carbon black found in bad engine oil for treatment of wood against termites. The engine oil itself and kerosene wasn't considered due to their volatile nature. The mixture may be effective for a limited period whilst the engine oil is still present in the wood but it definitely isn't feasible for an extended period of time. However, boron compounds like borax or boric acid salts, both soluble white crystalline salts can be used effectively. There is a general consensus about its effectiveness. The only limitation is that they can easily leach out when in contact with moisture. since it's going to be covered by roof, it would work unless the treated wood is left in rain. A 1.5kg salt can be mixed in 10 litres water to give a 15% solution. it would partially dissolve but when heated to boiling, the solubility increases and it dissolves fully. It's best to brush it over the wood in this hot state very generously so that much is absorbed deep into the wood. When the temperature falls, it forms the crystals back, but by then, it's already inside the wood. The borax messes up with the metabolism of the termites and they starve to death. small batches can be mixed at the point of application by mixing in metallic 4 litres gallon. 3 Likes |

twinskenny: started a reply on my phone, however this requires more detail there are multiple types of cables based on application and installation conditions cables are either copper or aluminum they can be bare , sheathed, heavy sheathed or armoured they can be single core or multicore they can be flat cable, round cable, bunched cable these are links to colemans website http://www.colemancables.com/products/category/18/ http://www.colemancables.com/products/category/21/ a single core cable can be solid conductor or stranded. solid conductor is what is typically used for wiring houses, however, installers prefer flexible/stranded cable for connecting indoor and outdoor air conditioners this is actually how i stumbled on coleman. for years all the ac installs i was involved in used some dodgy chinko/aba flex cable. at that point i did not know there was an alternative available locally, then we started having fires in the office with the acs as the point of origin. one of teh resolutions was to find a certifble cable as a replacement.i looked and i found coleman. we replaced all the chinko flex cables with coleman, and the fires stopped. http://www.colemancables.com/products/catalogue/ you can also download their catalogues for further information some simple examples of applications solid single core cable is used for house wiring, stranded single core is used for panel wiring flat multicore cable is used for surface wiring, round multicobe cable is used in conduits and trunking bare aluminum cable is used for overhead lt lines, bunched [recline] cable is used in areas where the cable may come in contact with structures bottom line, there is stranded and solid core 4mm cable. what do you intend to do with the cable? also, you measure the diameter of the entire core, not single strands 1 Like

oyb: thank you very much boss this is much detailed i am actually used to the solid 4mm not the strands type.. they claimed they stop producting that some two years back.. i was surprised. now the issue is not that the cable bought is not good but they claimed its not from there factory according to there meter reading or so to say another thign is they are angry because the client requested a quote from them some few months back and he refused to buy directly from them.. something is not right here.. you have a distributor with some price leverage yet u will sell directly to client at higher price from your office.. they keep saying next time i should buy from them direclty i still dont get it.. if they want to sell directly to client why do they have distributor then> i have to do a through test on the cable bought which has already been installed to be sure we are on a safer side. Lol, it is interesting that this subject has resurfaced. I made the below posts exactly three months ago Today. They seemed like mere rhetorics at the time. But now I'm guessing different. allCopacetic: allCopacetic: There is a saying .."Frog wey never enter hot water, no go know say na two types of water dey. I often keep quiet when i see folks brandishing prices from "dealers" or chasing bargains , sometimes with insignificant differences ...at the expense of quality assurance . It is not sensible to buy without a reasonable amount of cost consideration and bargaining... I'm a consumer too, and i speak from that perspective aswell. But in the same vein First and foremost, and above all else, Ascertain and prioritize the integrity of the Merchandise, AND!!! the Seller, before you even factor or pay any attention to price. Because no matter how cheap or expensive the merchandise is, if there is a problem with the aforementioned two, then you're at a Loss either way. Again this doesn't just apply to Cables, it applies to alot of things. two identical looking items can be poles apart in value and quality. The question is can you tell the difference. Like I am wont to Say.... We have a very unique market and as such should apply a unique approach to buying. There are a handful of honest sellers out there, but thier prices are hardly every the cheapest. Sometimes, When you talk about things you see and experience on a DAILY basis, somebody who shops two , three times a year can come and define what is and isn't. But then, what do I know 1 Like |

twinskenny:Because there is a certain thing called a Distribution Chain in every industry my brother. If an individual or organisation makes the effort to fulfill the below requirements , after going into contractual agreement with you, you cannot in turn sabotage his/its interests. It would be nice if you told us where you or your client bought these cables from though. That's part of the problem with bargain hunting

allCopacetic:thanks chief you know i called u sometime to confirm some figures from you.. .. the thing is coleman cannot even trust most of there distributor which still baffle me sir.. when i told them the prices i paid for those items they claimed its was actually fare prices and by them checking on the signature on the label they knew its one of there accredited distributor, cause someone from there factory signed the label which they confirmed ... now my question is why are they forcing people to buy from them direclty? i dont get it whats the function of a distributor then if we cannot trust your distriburtor are they now saying we should all line up at there factory to purchase cables? below are the prices 1.5mm 7800 the sell 8750 2.5mm 12800 i believe they sell 14k there about 4mm 22,000 they sell like 23750 10mm 51k 16mm 78k |

The Nigerian marketplace is interesting. Consumers are blamed for “bargain hunting” and they are to be blamed for criminal sellers d that market fake products, Some things I read and I just shake my head in wonder. Amazon just caused Toys R Us to declare bankruptcy. I guess Amazon sellers are morally unsound for choosing to buy the same product for less at Amazon instead of at Toys R Us. Fake products should never be on the market. Why does this post of mine reads like dejavu? |

twinskenny: some manufacturers are now very very careful who they engage as distributors because the scam is simple - get registered as a distributor, get the letter for the customers, then run off to chin to make fakes that would be sold at market price.ABB suffered this big time. EgunMogaji: its a fking jungle and you can trust almost no one. double check , triple check 8 years ago i was at lg main warehouse in apapa to buy a home theatre. they gave me the box. i was ready to leave, then i stopped and said they should open it, and lo and behold, it was a used home theatre inside the box. if i had left the shop it would have been another story. and you never can tell just how far these scams go. is it some workers; are the workers doing what their ogas have been doing and so on and so forth. |

twinskenny: They should have checked weight as well. An immitation could have same diameter, original label and packaging but will never be same weight if its not 100% copper. It will be pointless for anybody to immitate a product with the same quality. Weight is the best quality confirmation test for copper wire. |

back2sender: I walked into the local government area, town planning section. They told me to leave and they will come and have a look at the street. The check was to ensure it had not been allocated before to a different person. Then they called me to confirm I can come and pay N85k for the approval. I also wrote an application for the allocation of a street name to the officials. I waited a week before they agreed their Oga had signed for me to make the naming authentic. I paid another 8k or so to enable them buy paints and work on the welded name plate. They painted it themselves and wrote "approved by xyz local government" They gave me a laminated signed certificate to keep. They also used their hand to write the street name on about 6 houses ,on walls and gates. They gave numbers, number 1 to number 6. And that is how I came to live at number 1 Akwusi anuba ogu street (translation of my street name means, stop in this street and we give you a beating) Oh, and another 5k for their transportation back to office. 4 Likes |

oyb:Everyone of us will keep complaining, when authorities are effectively enforcing the laws The same people will turn it to became political. How long can we continue these way. An average Nigerian will go any part of the world obey their laws, when they return home right from the airport they will start jumping line. Imagine that. I was listening to TVC news calling in program two days ago, when someone called in complaing about Lagos state government moving bus terminal from Jibowu to Ojota where I believe they have more space. How can a country develop if may of it citizens are narrow thinker, that only care about how he or she get rich anyhow overnight. 3 Likes |
