This is a ridiculous news report from Vanguard and the Presidency's media handlers.

200 Streit Spartan and Typhoon MRAPs were bought from Streit group Jordan, not donated.
Dude if that donation includes Ratels that would be fvcking awesome!!!!! grin grin grin

Maybe the Jordan donation is from the 250 Ratels they have in their inventory after donating some to Yemen. grin grin grin

Seriously though, why would Nigeria collaborate with little poor Jordan to extend the Aqaba Process from East Africa to West Africa? ECOWAS has adequate security arrangements for West Africa.
I really miss the days when Africa had real leadership in Presidents Mbeki and Obasanjo.
Dude I seriously fvcking hope they are donating some Ratels....would be epic seeing more of them in action against BH!!

It is quiet unfortunate that you all have to see that. The last election (2015) really divided Nigeria but the reality is that it ain't as ominous as it seems. Nigeria is just passing through this sad but crucial stage and I know we will come out victorious.
At least Nigerians are now challenging the status quo, talking about problems we all pretended never existed and are proffering solutions.
Nigeria shall prevail!

I notice you guys militarise your private crime fighting response almost to the extent of a paramilitary GSU type gendarme! Is it a political thing or is your crime that bad? From these pics many of these companies could serve as an unofficial army reserve!

The crime is bad as AK stated. Some private security companies even have helicopters to respond. These guys also get medical training to treat people on the scene before paramedics arrive. Basically they are better than the local police in many aspects.

The bolded part.

I also find the police less useful, there's just many bad ones who just want a paycheck at month end and don't actually care if they work. As a black guy, I can confidently state that the white cops seem to be more serious about doing the work police should be doing (no race wars intended).

Speculation on my part, as that's what little Jordan donated to Yemen. I don't see them being able to donate anything else, frankly. Unless they're also expecting some other donation from Uncle Sam. Plus, if it's Ratels, they'll hopefully be adding more Paramount Mbombe as replacement! grin grin grin

Nigeria and Cameroun both operating Ratel, now that would be something. grin grin grin!

It was the Hashemite king himself who told President Buhari about the AFV and Helos -- just curious? Apparently there are countries that have a lot of goodwill towards Nigeria but there are many more who wants it dismembered like the former Yugoslavia and those are the secret powerful fingers behind Boko haram and IPOB. My assumptions point to some in the west. Still thanking God Obama was defeated; may have been worse with Clinton who relishes lecturing Nigeria at every turn. There is just this sinister agenda that clearly exist. Whoever can't stand the idea of the peaceful rise of a black power which if not subtly weakened from within with domestic enemies would eventually outstrip them. Everyone does that against a potential adversary. We gotta wake up. The confidence of Kanu and Shekau beggars belief.

@ jln115 take notice of the added armour on the BAE Iklwa, this is a testament to the changed war doctrine. Days of going into Angola and rushing back to Namibia in a few hours (and deny your involvement) are gone, whenever we invade another territory (or defend against one) it would be officially so protection is more important than hitting 120km/h on gravel road.

So you actually believe Jordan can actually donate 200 vehicles of any type to Nigeria?

200 armoured vehicles for that matter?
Henry calm down .
Yes tiny Jordan can donate vehicles to Nigeria because:
They get a shit load of hassle free equipment from the U.S.
They also since the Gulf War 1 and 2 to turn against the Shia leaning Iraqi and Iranian Government get a Ton of equipment from the House of Saud..
The APCs came from the UAE were bought and paid for through the NPA.
The ones from Jordan is part of a new agreement signed on the sidelines of the UNGA that just concluded.

Right, for different reasons I find myself agreeing with Henry and newafrikaken. There's just something off about that Jordan statement. Nigeria recently bought from Streit Jordan, when the option of a donation was there. Or Aso Rock got its facts wrong; which is simply inept. Unless the donation was an inducement for Nigeria signing on to the extension of the Aqaba Process to West Africa. Which is even worse, when a minnow like Jordan - which doesn't even have an embassy in Abuja - can come along and sign up Nigeria to its West Africa security blueprint. That the 2 issues are mentioned in tandem in the official release is worrying.
Hell, it's bad enough Nigeria shares its hegemon status in West Africa with France.

Turkey, UAE and Jordan have already supplanted Ethiopia and Kenya in East Africa, now Morocco(France) and Jordan are attempting the same in West Africa. My interpretation, which I'm happy to take to the discussion thread.

But that statement simply produces more questions than answers.

Well, my deduction really, no concrete info. Of the 320 they bought, they currently have 250 after donating to Yemen. Plus they bought 50 Mbombe, with more to be built in-country. Presumably as a Ratel replacement.
My logic: previously donated from Ratel fleet; and currently manufacturing Ratel fleet replacement.

SIGHTS AND SOUNDS FROM GRADUATION CEREMONY OF NAF SPECIAL FORCES

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50FAG41wrDQ

Sights and sounds from the recent combined graduation ceremony of additional Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel from the Special Forces Course, alongside other security-related courses. Real firearms, live ammunition, cutlasses, etc were used during the exercise to enhance realism. Viewers are, however, advised not to try some of the moves that are in the video clip, as the NAF personnel involved in the displays have been well trained. Click and enjoy...

Nigeria military speaking does not need Obasanjo .
Military wise he was a disaster.
He is credited with purchasing the F7s despite the advice of his Airforce Generals who vehemently advocated for the Mig 29.
*No new Naval procurement contracts were undertaken during his regime.
*His administration also remains the only administration to be openly rebuked by the UN for not buying APCs for their Peacekeeping Troops.
Post GEJ and PMB political differences aside and despite the debacles of BH.
*Critically GEJ/ PMB started the push to increase the size of the Armed Forces.
to reform the Army
From 4 Divisions to 6 and Now 8
Navy: from two central commands to three.
Under GEJ the Navy actually built Boats .
Obj only refurbished Old vessels.
Obj was a disaster for the Military.
Not a fan of GEJ but he inherited a lot of problems from both Yaradua and Obasanjo.
Credit must be given where it is due.
The Navy turnaround belongs to GEJ
The debacle that befell the NAF started way before GEJ got there it then manifested itself during two key incidents.
The elevation of Alex Badeh to CAS
The elevation of Alex Badeh to CDS.

Aso Rock puts out vetted and authentic statements. It is the mouthpiece of the President.

Yes, questions abound as to the offer from the Jordanians to Nigeria but time will bring things to light and Jordan maybe small but it enjoys significant privileges from Uncle Sam than any African country except Egypt so it's not beyond it to have something to offer in terms of military equipment.

The Aqaba process remains what it is which is a security imperative fitting into Jordan's diplomatic approach for global visibility much like Switzerland for a small country in this case needing Nigeria's co-operation to succeed.

Jordan and the UAE even if they have all the money will never match Kenya's geo-political weight in the world never mind East Africa. International relevance goes beyond just money.

France does not share hegemony with Nigeria in West Africa. There is only one Hegemon in the region which is Nigeria.

Don't peddle false narratives.

Nigeria procured 177 armored vehicles from streit.
