the S80 has different engine types :

5 cylinder inline
5 cylinder turbo (T5)
6 cylinder inline
6 cylinder turbo (T6)

I was talking about the last engine type which is the T6(1999-2004 models), tnx

Majority don't know anything, it is all guess work. The worst part is that they like charging exorbitant rate for causing damages to our cars. The other set of demons are vulcanizers, these guys can inflate tyres above the recommended psi.

I met a guy in Kaduna who claimed to have changed the engine and gear box of his Nigeria used Murano to that of Siena. According to him, it's been cool. @op what's your take?

Yes but u will change the engine, gear box, brainbox , Ecu, key, some plenty wiring, programming, engine seats (4), construct and weld the engine seat then pay labor, it will take about a month to completely. we are looking at about 400k here , cool?

While lack of a transportation system makes car ownership a necessity... Not luxury and not optional. i agree totally. i escorted my friend recently to fix his indicator light Peugeot 406 france and when we returned home it had more than 5 more problems than we original had before visiting the rewire. the fan stoped working and the car was overheating., the indicator light developed a totally new problem, the central lock became faulty and so on. it made me scared of owning a car seriously.

Did Something similar May this year with my Toyota Corolla Verso.
The car came with an MMT gear box system commonly known as Clutch-gear or automanual by mechanics.
The model has a default problem, when you hav used it for over 2 year and long distance(lets say 8k km) it starts to disengage from E to N by itself.
Managed to fix it temp last year but had to completely change the gear box to full auto of corrollla. Other tins such as cable, brainbox and other weldings had to be done. I spent approx 200k. My mech was really good.
Since then, i hv really been enjoying the car smoothly.

I think some cars are just better for 9ja roads. But its always safer to get a car that the mechanics around can handle if ever the need.
In this Buharis Regime, nobody needs a car that will be a liability.
