I have a Gionee M5 that has been rooted, changed to Indian Rom and Xposed framework installed. It developed this problem of the power button not responding to soft press or touch, and also, when I switch it off for charging, it will not display that it is charging or connected to power at all. My question is if I take it to Gionee office for fixing, hope I won't face any problem given the fact that it's rooted and the warranty has expired since January.

flash the stock firmware and take to Gionee office. as for the power button ish, welcome to the club

Gionee really messed up on this m5 with all these hardware problems. That's how mine started, first was screen flickering, then the vibration ceased and the power button followed shortly after. But I enjoyed the phone nevertheless

don't waste your time or money changing screen, it'll eventually come back. just increase the brightness or give the phone to the less privileged

Disable your mobile security and it'll stop. The same thing happened to me before and I disabled mobile security and it stopped

currently using one, wouldn't advice any good phone user to get it..... Way too crappy. Go for the m5 mini instead.... Would rather dash it out than even sell it out to another person............ Crap

Meanwhile, I have been in the m5 mini whatsapp group and I was surprise to see many users complain about the phone. With all the complains I saw there, I can assure you that your m5 is still better than the m5 mini. I was only interested in the m5 because I'm yet to see a phone that has 6020mah battery with simultaneous(fast) charging technology plus Zaza remote and 4G LTE.
If you know any other phone with all these features pls recommend.

the one I am using is 2g ram and 16gig......for me I d m5 was way faster than this m5 coz I used the mini b4 I bought this m5..... 2 issues I so hate about the phone right now.. 1. U can't move apps from one storage to another, 2. The screen just keep blinking like it will go bad anytime.... As for a replacement I don't really know. Maybe you should try the m5 as u already outlined in it qualities you need I a phone

Pls guys I have rooted my gionee s plus just to be able to use fake wifi but I was unlucky to get it worked. Some body should help me to get fake wifi works on my gionee s plus Pls sassa.

Seems so many problems with M5 plus cos I use M5 mini and so far it has worth its value, nothing like insufficient memory and all that.
I just wish it was a bit lighter

some of the problems with the Gionee m5.
1. 6020mah battery is a hype. once battery goes below 40%, it'll empty real quick.
2. home buttons don't respond to touch when you use screen guard. you have to press and press until it turns to eba.
3. after some months, you'll notice the power on/off button doesn't respond to soft presses, you have to press and press..
4. amoled screen flickering. you have to manage, no way out.
5. doesn't support some 4g bands eg Glo.
6. Get a Gionee m6 instead, m5 is only an over hyped piece of garbage
