Excuse me but which party organized a Nat'l conference to discuss the structure of the country twice in the last 16 years?

Yes, PDP. So, don't rope in PDP with the thrash community of vagabonds that is the APC. Anyone who believed APC manifesto's deserves life jail term with no option of parole. A manifesto that Buhari didn't have any input on. He didn't even know what was on it, all he had to do was nod to whatever was read out of it. A party with different factions, each with their different ideologies.

-Lord

I have not seen anything in your comment that negates mine yet you seem to wana attack me. I said PDP was opposed to restructure in their 16 years' in power, you say they organized 2 conferences. Yes, OBJ and GEJ organized 2 conferences...OBJ's obviously with the sole desire to extend his stay in office which thankfully failed. GEJ spent 6 years in office and only organized a conference at the tail end of it. Still, the main conclusion of this conference was to create additional 16 states to take our current struture to 52 states, with 52 governors, deputies, assemblies, and a whole retinue of commissioners, assisstants, special assisstants and senior special assisstants!

Is this your idea of restructuring Nigeria?

You have lost your senses because in a sane society Atiku & Saraki would be behind bars.

In China they would have been executed.

FACT ! cool

In a sane country you would appreciate the importance of innocent until proven guilty

Do you have any proof why these men should be behind bar? Why not go to court and prove your case?

This kind of senseless talk is why we have an unproductive cattle rearer as President.

Being rich is not a crime, it shows you have a capacity to improve things. Stop being jealous of the Rich.

Nigeria needs a President who understands capitalism so that the country can flourish.

For all the claims of Buhari's righteousness now him and his cabal are looting the country black and blue. Did you see their budget?

We can do better my dear!

Restructuring Nigeria cannot work as a political promise of a presidential aspirant alone. It can only be successful as verifiable manifesto of a political party who eventually wins an election.

We have seen from the current administration's problems that the body language of the president and his desires to fight corruption is balderdash if the entire party do not embrace such project as doctrine.

Atiku wants to campaign on the basis of restructuring Nigeria and that is a good idea, although the man himself is a difficult market to sell. However, which of the political parties have adopted restructuring of Nigeria as their manifesto, doctrine and contract with the electorate should they win at the polls? Surely not APC, with many of the Northern goons single the opposite tune. PDP itself as a party had perenially been opposed to restructuring Nigeria when they were in power. Is the PDP for restructuring now? Has the party adopted such stance yet? Unfortunately, the answer is no.

So, fellow citizens, please ignore the individual on this restructuring slogan unless his party adopts same because in our democracy, the president can't do shiit except the national assembly supports the move. And please, excuse my French.

It is not by adopting it in a manifesto but seeing to its actualization. Did APC as a party not adopt retructuring as one of its campaign promises? Don't you think politicians will adopt any deceptive tactics to get to power as Nigerians do no hold them responsible for their promises? If by now you're still waking up tothe antics of Nigerian politicians then you need to trace your existence as human with a critical mind.

He may not. But compared to Buhari, Kwankwaso, el Rufai, Dakwambo, he is the only Northern candidate most likely to go ahead with it. That's a chance I'm prepared to take. Half bread is better than none.

APC wasn't part of the GEJ Nat'l Conference so I knew the restructuring they were chanting in 2014 was a moot point, and I was right on the money. Atiku has been part of the Constitutional Conferences in 1995 and 2005 and both times he supported the call for a return to regionalism. That is consistency.

-Lord

Believe Atiku at your own peril, all the folks you are comparing Atiku to are all the same. No northern candidate will never favour restructuring, Atiku is simply looking for votes. If you say you love atiku just leave it at that, but to base your atiku love on the restructuring song is purely deceit. Both Atiku and PMB are fulanis which you guys detest so much.

Atiku made a point when he said that the northerners who are against restructuring are lazy. The Ibos are independent today b'cuz we did not believe in or wait for saviours or a prophecied messiah to come to our rescue. We knew that no one would save us if not ourselves and today we are the most productive tribe in Africa.
So, the north should realize that what they've been afraid of has a solution. After restructuring, go to your homes to your farms, grow back your pride as grain farmers.

Atiku is a detribalized Fulani. A northern candidate would emerge as the President in 2019, we only have to choose which is better. And Atiku is the best choice from a Southern POV. Northerners have a lot to choose from, from the bigot-in-chief (Buhari), to the one who always bails Fulani criminals in the South (Kwankwaso), to the one who pays his brothers to kill non-Fulanis (el-Rufai).

Atiku is a Fulani we can manage, the others can go f*ck themselves.

Is this your idea of restructuring Nigeria?

It is not my idea, but it is a whole lot better than saying restructuring is a no-go area; which is what the North have been saying until the heat became too much.

The question is why did Yar'Adua throw away OBJ's conference report even tho they were from the same party. And why did Buhari throw away GEJ's conference even tho restructuring was in the APC manifesto.

Your argument is that parties would make it happen, and that's wrong. Parties would do whatever it takes to stay in power. The current exercise by APC to collate opinions in all geo-political zones is laying to the gallery. If for some reason the call for restructuring dies down, they'd abandon it.

This is Nigeria. Ideologies don't count. It's all about staying in power, so excuse me if I think that a person who's been calling for restructuring since 1995 deserves to be President because he is the most likely from the present crop of Northern aspirants to restructure the country.

Unless you're saying we should forget restructuring because no party is sincere about it. Every party would be serious about it when it's getting the kind of support it currently is getting. But someone like Buhari might choose not to act on the report or stall and nothing would happen. That's why you need someone who at least shows commitment to the prospect, not someone who says it is beyond his red line.

It is worthy of note that the North were the first to clamor for Secession (Check history)..
I understand they wanted to scare the British with it since it gave birth to the 1947 Richardson's blunder.
They would oppose restructuring by all means; restructuring to them means relinquishing part of the 50percent they hold both in the senate and the lower house.
They have held the whole country to ransom for so long and they should be ashamed. There is no integrity in it.

Oga, bring proof and you're talking about anecdotes.

You want me to ignore a Fulani who brought an American University to the North for a Fulani who paid other Fulanis to massacre non-Fulanis?

Grazing bills are dead on arrival. If Buhari can't enforce it on the whole country, not even Dan Fodio can. Atiku can try, but he'll fail.

A Fulani is a Fulani, but there are moderate Fulanis like there are moderate Igbos (the ones who don't want secession but restructuring). Atiku is a moderate Fulani. The others are extremists. That is the point.

For example, Kanu is a far right Igbo. Ezekwesili is a moderate Igbo. Kanu wants secession, Ezekwesili want restructuring. Both of them detest the Operation Python Dance in the South East.

I've gone at length to point out why Atiku is different from the other aspirants. Now can you prove otherwise with facts to back your points?

What can a VP do in Nigeria without the assent of the President? And you seem to forget that in 2005 we had a constitutional conference organized by OBJ. The report was thrown away by Yar'Adua in much the same manner that Buhari threw away GEJ's report.

You guys just want the status quo to remain. If Atiku wouldn't restructure Nigeria, no other Northern presidential candidate would restructure Nigeria. I hope he plays his card well and court the MB, SS, SE, and take 50% as usual of the SW; and let the NE/NW go to blazes.

If it is not party programme, it is then the less achieveable as it becomes marely the president's pet project which can only succeed peripherally.

Government is a continuum.

Implementing the confab report when he had an election the next year would have been seen as a backyard attempt to stay in power. Buhari could have set up machinery to discuss the confab report, rather than just eliminate it.

He and his party were invited to the conference. They chose to ignore the invitation. Whose fault is that?

Now the Senate is debating on the same confab report and APC is starting another round of discussion on it by touring the 6 geo-political zones. So why did Buhari not pre-empt all of this and do what was right from the beginning, when restructuring was part of his manifesto?
