Move2: I bought a Nigerian used EOD 2004 2.4L 4plugs, I serviced immediately after the purchase but after two weeks I discovered engine oil shortage and also the car consumes more fuel than an average eod. I took the car to my regular mechanic and he said I'll need to ring the engine that some parts are old or worn out already & thats the reason for the colored exhaust fumes when I start the car in the morning , he said there's no need to change the whole engine because the car still moves as fast as any other eod, ac is working perfectly and other features are cool.. But I want a professional advance and also cost of ringing and cost of fixing another engine. I also want to know if is possible when changing the car engine to a 2.0L instead of the factory 2.4L engine. Thank you. |

Ojehakeem: What engine oil did you service the car with? was the colored fume present before you serviced the car? I also want to know if is possible when changing the car engine to a 2.0L instead of the factory 2.4L engine. Bros don't even think about it.. |

Ojehakeem: GAZZUZZ: Keywords: Change and 2.0L instead of Factory 2.4L. Honda Academy engine is 2.0L and we know kazeem can do and undo.. No be nairaland we see Kazeem put 5S-FE into any car? murano, outlander, Kia etc. Am just guessing the honda academy engine is the nearest replacement https://www.nairaland.com/4024419/registered-kia-cerato-2007-ac#59997677 |

thebigkendo: Let me go broather. 1994-95 Honda Accord aka Bulldog and facelift 1996-97 Honda Accord aka Honda Academy. To summarise Wikipedia, they were sold in America, Japan and Philippines. Japanese spec had 1.8, 2.0, 2.2VTEC and 2.2DOHC American spec had 2.2 and 2.7 Dont forget that Japanese models are right hand drive so they would be very rare in Nigeria. That leaves us mainly with American models. The v6 were very few, i have seen it but the 2.2 was in SOHC and VTEC. Dont forget they never wrote its cubic capacity on the car or engine so seeing it is virtually impossible. The engines had 2 types of valve cover black or silver. Black is VTEC silver is SOHC. Most mechanics refer to the silver engine as Hala engine (Honda Hala engine). Some mechanics are not even aware that even though the valve cover is the same, the engine is not same. My family owned one from 2010 to a week ago that i sold it. Modified: Honda Bullet is the Europe model of the same year, but that is not what we are talking about. |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by adanny01(m): 11:42am On Sep 21, 2017 |
thebigkendo: That 2.0 is meant for European models fits manual gearbox only while 1.8 for Japanese models. I dont know for the Europe model, but the American model has an ECU, to get another engine working it it requires not just an engine.

adanny01: I get your arguement.. Maybe i am mixing up the honda bullet with academy.. whether it is converted or not. I don't know, But i know a neighbor at the previous compound i stayed, had a honda accord(the generation before baby boy) with 2.0L badge at the back, He told me it has a 2.0L engine |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by adanny01(m): 12:00pm On Sep 21, 2017 |
thebigkendo: Thats Honda Bullet not Honda Academy. Bullet is Europe model while Academy/Bulldog is American |

abidemidare: No wahala, your day will come. However, Dexron 2 is not as bad as Abro or those ATF that has no branding. When your seals start leaking, you would say had i known. Its possible your shifts are bad at the moment but just because you dont remember how smooth it was in the first place, you would think everything is fine. 1 Like |

abidemidare: Continue the python dance on top of your gear, Honda specifically said DextronII ATF should be used temporily on the gears and do not touch anything ATF-ZI with even a long spoon, everyone of them today is China cloned fake. 2 Likes |

Hello, I use Honda Accord Crosstour 2012. It drives fine at the moment but has some issues: 1. The power steering oil level goes down. I have to top up every 2-3 days. I noticed some small leaks on the driver side tyre area. Could it be a leaking hose or the steering rack? My mechanic says it is the steering rack but I am not sure. 2. For some weeks now, I have noticed some other issues which are: the OBD II port no longer works and cannot connect to any scanner, the screen that shows navigation and reverse cam no longer comes on normally as it used to. After 2 days, it started coming on but is blank and doesn't display anything. Also, some lights that were working before like the gear light and door lights. In addition, some of the dashboard indicators no longer work like the seatbelt indicator. Lastly, the car alarm or panic no longer works. When pressed, it make the usual sound but if touched, it doesn't sound alarm like before. What could be the problem and how should it be fixed? |

Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by GAZZUZZ(m): 10:18am On Sep 27, 2017 |
emmbet: at this point be prepared to replace a lot of electronic modules. Resist the thought of trying to repair the symptoms, and replace te affected modules. |
Re: Maintenance Tips For Honda Cars by GAZZUZZ(m): 10:22am On Sep 27, 2017 |
emmbet: on a second thought, check if the flooding was fresh or saltwater. Also check under the car if it is severely rusted. |

GAZZUZZ: I've checked under the car. It is not severely rusted. Which and which electronic modules am I to replace? How much would it likely cost me? |

@ Gazzuz pls would I need to replace the entire electronic module system or some of it. I have checked online and seen the different parts of it. Can you fix it for me? If yes, how much should I budget for it? Also, I don't understand your reply on the leaking power steering oil. |

I drive a 2003 Honda Accord automatic and recently, it started jerking while shifting between gears (especially 1st to 2nd) after a cold start (not driven the car for several hours). It stops after I've driven the car for some minutes. Please what could be the problem? |

GAZZUZZ:bros o, make una help me I don replace gear, it's been smooth driving within the city since the gear change, few days back, I decided to drive the car to kaduna. After about 2hours of driving, the gear began to act up, shifting was bad but drives well after the gear has shifted completely. I've noticed now that the car drives fine when cold, but begins to misbehave after about 2hrs or so of driving (CEL comes up too at this time) Codes P0700 P0740 : torque converter clutch circuit.
