Niger govt. creates Department of Oil and Gas

ON SEPTEMBER 28, 20177:35 PMIN BUSINESS, NEWSCOMMENTS

The Niger Government has approved the creation of a Department of Oil and Gas under the state Ministry of Mineral Resources.

Alhaji Mudi Mohammed, the state Commissioner for Mineral Resources, told newsmen in Minna on Thursday that the approval was given by Gov. Abubakar Bello at the weekly State Executive Council meeting.

He said since the state was prospecting for oil and gas in Bida and Zungeru Basin, there was need for the creation of a department that would oversees the production process in line with the Federal Government’s mandate.

Mohammed also said the department would be responsible for coordinating the exploration, development and deployment process to attract investors.

He further said that the department would liaise with the Federal Government on the exploration and development of the oil and gas sector in the state.

According to him, the Bida Basin had been blocked into 17 oil blocks, with Main Land Oil and Gas Company already applying for two blocks–Oil Prospecting License 501 (OPL) and OPL 517.

The commissioner added that a Chinese Company had visited the sites and taken samples to China for assessment.

He also said the state government in collaboration with Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation would soon visit the Kutigi and Gulu exploration sites. (NAN)

And what are the S/Eastern states looking for to strip them of their parasitic status?

Very good question, because statistically they're more parasitic than the entire North (minus the war ravaged NE).

In fact Kano and Kaduna IGR alone dwarfs the entire IGR of the South Eastern states combined; they're actually dragging with what's in Davido's account.

In other words, no other region is more dependent on FG allocations to survive, and no other region is as parasitic as the SE and this is a verifiable fact.

biafra!
And who is stopping them?

What actions have the reps/leaders of SE taken to initiate this process?

Pls don't tell me about those criminals parading themselves as Igbos busy insulting everyone and constituting nuisance, no govt views the criminal actions of illiterate thugs as legitimate anywhere in the world.

They have leaders at all levels of govt duly elected/selected by them, let those ones initiate the process, then the agitation will be genuine, fully recognised and formal. Afterwards, if they are denied biafla, they can complain.

Stupidity is when you take statistics and numbers alone and toss is about as fact like one brainless idiot here showing screenshots of high internally generated revenue. What has this translated to in reality? These states with the supposedly high IGR also have high rates of poverty, underdevelopment and illiteracy. What’s the point of high IGR when it doesn’t translate to development.

You don’t see little children in the south east walking the streets with plates and forced to beg rather than go to school! They grow up to be poor and perpetuate the cycle of poverty and illiteracy that is common to the north meanwhile the elites send their wards to the best schools. These poor ones grow up to be poor and useless and a burden to society! Now that is the definition of parasitic... they contribute nothing but underdevelopment and poverty and want the most money.

My major concern here is if there is already oil in Bida basin and Zungeru in Niger State and also in the North; why is the present government spending so much in Lake Chad and Sokoto all in the same bid to discover oil in the North?

When we are going solar you're talking about oil. Tufiakwa. Hausa people with no sense

Someone is trying to get you banned but I support you! Came to power on the mantra of diversifying and end up wasting resources looking for something that will be useless in 5-10 years! Is that sensible?
Wasting huge potentials of a state with huge land and water resources to look for something that will potentially pollute these. Is that sensible?
I’ve not seen people whose life ambitions is to buy apple sticker and Ralph Lauren polo stickers and paste at the back of their cars and constitute a nuisance to society! Is that sensible?

Very fast in calling Almajiri, even with their Aba made "engrish".

If Almajiri thinks from his anus, where do the ipob terrorist pigs think from? From the dirty mud in which they were made to swim by same Almajiri. undecided

Other than the figures displayed, show us how else the SE are not the sapping parasites. What do they contribute to the nation's purse?

Save yourself the heartache and simply explain how the South East is not more of a parasite than any other region in this country (except war torn NE).

Bring your alternate figures if you disagree with my submission, insults are petty and boring.

Same way you hardly hear of other tribes facing the hangman's noose in other countries for crime all in the name of money.

How many times have you heard of a Hausa man involved in human trafficking? Who are the champions of prostitution, kidnapping, money rituals, fake spare parts, armed robbery all in a bit to get money.

It is better to be a beggar than getting involved in those crimes.

Unfortunately for the Igbos, those reps and leaders are the only mouthpiece of each political units, not some foolish criminals parading themselves as Igbos.

Things cannot be changed because some frustrated criminals decide to constitute nuisance to their environment.
