Please read Joe Bageant's 'Deer Hunting with Jesus'. He explains how great numbers of Americans are being brainwashed and manipulated in schools, at work and elsewhere to vote against their own interests. I think Republican Congressmen and women are in a bit of a tricky situation.
Those of them who represent districts in which Trump has a relatively high approval rating (50% or more) cannot be all gung-ho in criticizing Trump, or risk being primaried by a hard core Trump supporter.

On the other, those of them who, individually, have much higher approval ratings than the president do not have much to fear when slamming Trump.

It's really unfortunate that they hand over their brains to these fake media sources to refill with false narratives every now and then. The Puerto Rico Tragedy and the reporting of it tells it all. They conveniently ignore the hundreds and thousands of food, material and human resources on ground and are only focusing on trying to draw up a narrative that some how President Trump is racist, and never cared for the Puerto Ricans. But they forget that the magnitude of the Hurricane coupled with the topography and the nature of the island is different to that of Florida and Houston. How can a Major be screaming "We are dying...." while she is standing in front of tones of supply? Everything thing now has to be politicised and geared towards achieving an Anti-Trump narrative.
