striker07: The first Nigerian professor of mathematics is professor Adegoke olubunmo from ekiti, even though chike obi was tthe first to have a PhD in mathematics. This is a perfect example of my previous submission as to why PhD is a better yard to measure than professorship... again it goes to show the devastating effect of the civil war...Chike obi had his PhD earlier but couldn't have his professorship quick enough which is what many igbos of his generation suffered. by the time the war had ended, many yorubas who were in the west which suffered no war were moving ahead with their academic pursuit while the likes chike was stunted by the war and when the war ended, they have been emasculated financially, socially and politically to continue from where they were before the war with all manner of discrimination. many may have even dropped out of school to go into other businesses to survive while some had died during the war |

Pained tribalist....ibos also did the recent ibadan declaration abi? Throwback: Can some people ever catch up to greatness?
Omoluabi no be anybody school mate.
Above is the very first professor of anything in Nigeria. A medical doctor by profession.
He was the most senior African on the academic board of University of Ibadan. When it was time for the British to hand over UI to Nigerians, the Igbo dominated NCNC ensured an Igbo Professor Kenneth Dike who was away on sabbatical in the USA was called back to become the vice-principal ahead of his senior Prof Ajose who was more qualified, physically present and interested in the position.
When it was time to also name the Principal, Kenneth Dike was equally chosen ahead of Prof Ajose
It is noteworthy that Dr Akanu Ibiam who was also Igbo, was the Chairman of the University Council.
Prof Kenneth Dike would go ahead to recruit Nigerians into UI, but out of the 108 newly hired, only 3 were Yorubas, and the remaining 105 were from Dike's and Akanu Ibiam's Eastern region.
Prof Ajose resigned and moved to the new Western region established OAU to become its pioneer VC, since the federal government posts was only merited by the Igbos who had partnered with the educationally disadvantaged North. Yet this same Igbos till today continue to bemoan the Northernization policy of Ahmadu Bello, who was Northern Premier. As far as they were concerned, they secured their own Eastern region for Easterners only, they dominated the Federal positions, and the North should have also been made open to their greed.
So when you hear some people wailing about marginalization, they are only longing for a return to an era when merit is to appoint Igbo.

I never wanted to respond to you initially but let me give you a little knowledge...head of interim Government is different from president or head of state.more over both have reached the avarage life span age of a Nigerian adult and they is no difference between them and Ironsi or Zik..you name Dimeji Bankole but you didn't mention Edwin Umezioke..Nwafor Orizu from Anambra state was once an acting president(before the 1966 coup)which is the same job shonekan did..google will help you with the list of senate presidents from SE..your ogun state did not even produce more than Ebonyi(akanu ibiam and pius anyim)talk more of the whole SE...you should be thankful to God that kept OBJ alife because, politically,he is the only eye in the whole of SW....as for the mere commissioner,i thought he is from Lagos state? EponOjuku:
I'm from Ogun State and my state alone has produced more heavyweights than the 5 states in your entire region has produced since independence.
We have 2 Presidents - Shonekan, OBJ 2 VPs - Diya, Osinbajo Speaker FHR - Dimeji Bankole CJN - Adetokunbo Ademola, Teslim Elias
Out of the first 3 SANs ever bestowed in this country, 2 are from Ogun State - FRA Williams and Awolowo.
On the other hand, the Highest Igbo man in politics is Ekwueme who was a slave to Shagari. Mind you, Shehu Shagari is from Sokoto the seat of the Caliphate.
Hence, it's logical to say the most senior Igbo man in Igbo political history was a slave to the caliphate.
You have an unverifiable past, a frustrated present and a break future. Just shut up your wide mouth and serve other Nigerians in silence until you and your folks have enough commonsense to act like sensible human beings. |

They should ban hawking of agbooo and other concoctions and selling of #30 a plate of rice in all streets of Nigeria..and for your information, lagos is a no man's land...Lagos is not owned by anybody,it is a federal Government territory..hence belong to all Nigerian...you can hug transformer if you care EponOjuku:
It's the educational achievements and exposure of the SWeners that made your fathers hawk ice water in the SW, you to hawk gala in Lagos and your children are already warming up to hawk in Eko Atlantic City.
If they decide to ban hawking today in the SW, your folks would die of starvation. |

you say igbos are tenants in lagos really? i need not reply to this...i guess you just wanna be mischievous it is allowed
Obasanjo who promulgated the Land Use Act is a Yoruba man and he found a solution to your madness before even your fathers learnt how to wear clothes. The Land Use Act introduced the Certificate of Occupancy. The best title you can get when you buy land in Lagos is a C of O. CofOs last for max 99 years and can be revoked in public interest. No matter what, you are just glorified tenants in Lagos. All we need is a single publication of revocation in the newspaper. The C of Os you own would be used to fan yourselves when Omoluabis start with you flatheaded ingrates. 7 Likes |
