Truly Tijani got d speed but lack d intelligence of Finidi but did u know that Finidi is not a slow winger, pls watch his first game for Nigeria against Burkina Faso.

He came in for fumbling Austin Eguavoen and made a hell out of Burkinabes with his speed and crosses, through his input in that match Yekini scored four goals.

It was this match that gave birth to Finidi which everyone see as another version of Segun Odegbami though slightly different coz big Sege was a winger in d mould of CR7.
That Finidi was a mystery of some sorts - he was slow and swift.

Hehe, thought as much.

And I'm also guessing, you're more into philosophy and history.
I read wide from religion, history, philosophy, culture and of course literature(my first love).

Please list the languages you can speak. Does it include Arabic (I love their calligraphy but the guttural sounds is a no no for me)

Typical of defenders.

In years to come some people will say they don't know Chidi Odiah or Efe Ambrose.
I'm sure some people on this thread are just hearing chidi's name for the first time

Try and watch highlights of any argentina league and you'l hate commentators. I watched one, and just cos the ball was in 18, see shout asif na goal. When it finally entered the net, omg and smh.. he went off on a long scream of gooles. I'm glad Cannavaro&Gattuso, Stam changed all that.
But please sample this Iconic commentary by Victor Hugo Morales that accompanied Maradona's epic, mazy run in the Quarter finals between Argentina and England during the World Cup Mexico 86:

He's going to pass it to Diego, there's Maradona with it, two men on him, Maradona steps on the ball, there goes down the right flank the genius of world football, he leaves the wing and he's going to pass it to Burruchaga... Still Maradona! Genius! Genius! Genius! There, there, there, there, there, there! Goaaaaaaaal! Goaaaaaaal! I want to cry, oh holy God, long live football! What a goal! Diegoal! Maradona! It's to cry, excuse me! Maradona, in a memorable run, in the best play of all times! Little cosmic kite, which planet did you come from, to leave so many Englishmen behind, so that the country becomes a clenched fist crying for Argentina? Argentina 2, England 0! Diegoal, Diegoal, Diego Armando Maradona! Thank you God, for football, for Maradona, for these tears, for this Argentina 2, England 0.

You feel it? The poetic emotional outpourings, the timing, the event, all made it beautiful, truly classic.

The big Joe, you can trust me now ...
The ring is already on the ground - in Abuja!

And by the way, who's organizing "entertainment" for the Saturday's match officials?
Abeg, all hands have to be on deck to ensure victory.

UNICAL is still in session and Calabar is very close to Uyo.

Good that u know Chris Ohenhen of Compostela then in Spanish LA liga, very good player and member of Saudi 89 Nigeria Squad, one of best free kick taker but surprisedly he find it difficult to break into Eagles coz Westerhoff stick to Yekini, Amokachie,Siasia, though he did not show that commitment to Eagles.

Kog45 and Icon4s it's possible that you guys watched that match(that happened only in the colorful imagination of Nigerians) that has become one of Nigeria's notorious urban legends: the match with India where the ball was turning into a Lion once it gets to our goalie. India it was said won the match 100-1. It was said that FIFA banned India from international football cos of that match

I wish the fans are more vocal in their support. That heyyyy - ayyy, heyyyy-aayyy, heyyyy-aayyy, whooo, who ooo who ooooooo is a great booster to our players and a demoralising thing for our opponents. I can't boast of having played football other than backyard monkey post but Omo that thing can enter bone if the negative whooo whooo is directed at you. Legs become heavy, movement frazzled and passes become uncoordinated. It's a real psychological weapon which if we made our practice from the blowing of the whistle till the end it would take only a team with the mental steel of the Germans to win us in any home fixture. That thing is an unused weapon. Even as a fan watching on television once the fans in the stadium start that praise/boo chant, I feel very sweet inside-talkless of the players in the stadium. The fans should be made to consciously use it.
not to professionals, it has little or no effect against real professionals in a serious match, but however, it can bring out the best from the winning team,or it will lead them to start showing unnecessary skills.

Hahaha thanks for the complements.

We remember because we were really committed to it. Plus NTA then had the habit of repeating so many of those legendary games. For Eg I know how many times I watched that miracle of Damam game plus the China 85 final. I have both videos on my laptop courtesy of YouTube.

Talking about the Nigeria vs India game, the truth is....

it never happened.

We heard the same story even as kids then.

Professionals are human beings. It's basic psychology: we all want approval and we hate disapproval. It's said that even plants and flowers respond to positive vibes. I am sure even professionals would not want to be booed. In any case the fans in Uyo tend to be less vocal compared to when matches used to be played in Lagos with the crowd singing 'all we are saying give us one(more) goals'

Garba Shehu??

OK. your choice.

Firstly, I will replace Garba Shehu with Austine Eguavoen.
Replace the duo of Okechukwu and Taribo with Keshi and Christian Chukwu.

Then I will switch to a 4-4-2 formation, replace Mikel with Okocha in CM, replace Babangida with Finidi and then introduce Kanu Nwankwo as supporting striker to Yekini.

I know it never happened. Was just teasing.
I used to watch NTA sports too oo every Saturday with Modele Sharafat and Paul Ogaji. They will show Nigeria matches, premiership then during their Shearer, Owen, Ince, Andre Flo era. That used to be the highlight of my weekends in order to keep abreast with my classmates on Monday in school. The Internet has changed everything and thanks to youtube one can watch just about every match from the past.
