So alot of you heard about the proposed media censorship sometime ago, which the govt denied. Well it looks like its true after all as this afternoon, a talk show on radio was abruptly ended after the NBC called and asked for the show to be taken down. Popular political analyst Chxta was talking about the #AsabaMassacre. What's your take guys? Screenshots below. 5 Likes 2 Shares

Modified; After reading over 4 pages of this post, I wish I didn't make it, because as usual it has derailed off the point. The Biafra civil war was regrettable. Both sides suffered regrettable casualties and let us all pray it doesn't happen again. If you watched the platform, you'd realise something, the speakers were very convincing. One reason for that was because of their knowledge of the past. Alot of youth know nothing of this past but will argue about it with so much confidence. That's called IGNORANCE! The killings that happened in Asaba on October 1967 shouldn't be equated with anything else. It shouldn't be used to throw cheap shot at Buhari, or continue your never ending backlash on the Igbos or Muslims. This is barbaric. It was a pre meditated massacre. It was done for the fun of killing and not because they were retaliating or anything. If you tell me we shouldn't discuss it because the nation is currently tensed, I can see sense in that but to say we shouldn't because its a war and there were casualties on both sides, you need to watch out, politics is eating deep into that thing that makes you HUMAN! This is not Ipob, this is not GEJ vs PMB, this is man's inhumanity to man, and no one, I repeat no one should try justifying this! 1 Like

What do you expect when 15million Nigerians voted Buhari to power?!? Enjoy his despotic tendencies. And for those expecting Buhari to lose 2019 presidential elections, sorry. The man will win by the vote or by guns. 107 Likes 11 Shares |

THE ASABA MASSACRE The Federal troops entered Asaba around October 5, and began ransacking houses and killing civilians, claiming they were Biafran sympathisers. Leaders summoned the towns people to assemble on the morning of October 7, hoping to end the violence through a show of support for "One Nigeria." Hundreds of men, women, and children, many wearing the ceremonial akwa ocha (white) attire paraded along the main street, singing, dancing, and chanting "One Nigeria." At a junction, men and teenage boys were separated from women and young children, and gathered in an open square at Ogbe-Osowa village. Federal troops revealed machine guns, and orders were given, reportedly by Second-in-Command, Maj. Ibrahim Taiwo , to open fire. It is estimated that more than 700 men and boys were killed, some as young as 12 years old, in addition to many more killed in the preceding days. The bodies of some victims were retrieved by family members and buried at home. But most were buried in [mass grave]]s, without appropriate ceremony. Many extended families lost dozens of men and boys. Federal troops occupied Asaba for many months, during which time most of the town was destroyed, many women and girls were raped or forcibly "married," and large numbers of citizens fled, often not returning until the war ended in 1970. SUSPECT: Ibrahim B. Haruna has sometimes been named as the officer who ordered the massacre, following a report of his testimony to the Nigerian Human Rights Violations Investigations Commission, known as the Oputa Panel. 148 Likes 23 Shares |
