FIFA give exemption to Odey’s delayed transfer to FC Zurich, NPFL hotshot now cleared for action By admin - October 4, 2017, 11:54 am World football governing body FIFA have given striker Stephen Odey a special exemption and he can now start playing officially for Swiss side FC Zurich after his transfer processing failed to beat the August 31 deadline. He has already been handed jersey No 20. Odey, who scored 18 goals for MFM FC last season, has signed a four-year contract with FC Zurich, but the switch was not endorsed by FIFA due to late submission of the transfer documentations. One of the agents involved in the transfer told SCORENigeria FIFA finally cleared Odey yesterday. “Odey can now start playing for FC Zurich following this clearance,” he disclosed. “It was a difficult for both the player and club while this issue dragged on. “Such was the frustration was that everybody was now looking at the January transfer window.” Odey has already impressed in training and friendly matches for the Swiss club and he will now be expected to make his official debut after the international break. FC Zurich are second on the table with 17 points from 10 matches, six points behind leaders Young Boys. http://scorenigeria.com.ng/2017/10/04/fifa-give-exemption-to-odeys-delayed-transfer-to-fc-zurich-npfl-hotshot-now-cleared-for-action/ 1 Like |

@ Icon4s We can identify overage players at U17 competitions at no risk to the individual. This is of considerable help both to member associations and Fifa.” For this month’s U17 World Cup, four players will be randomly chosen from each of the 24 selected teams and tested under the supervision of Fifa’s medical experts. Testing will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday. Fifa encourages teams to first conduct their own preliminary tests to ensure all players comply with the age rule. How Simon escaped last chance saloon after Rohr riot act Colin Udoh, KweséESPN Moses Simon was as close as it gets to being axed from the Super Eagles starting line-up last month. Impressed by his speed, silky skills and willingness to take on and turn defenders, Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr had elevated him above Ahmed Musa as his starting wide forward on the right. But with the position came responsibility; the responsibility to track back and help his fullback when defending. Simon, apparently, did not take that task seriously. At least not as seriously as he should have. His tardiness in that regard largely went unpunished as Nigeria won game after game, both in friendlies and World Cup qualifying. However, shorn of the protection offered by captain John Mikel Obi's calming influence in midfield against South Africa, Simon's inadequacies were brutally exposed. A keen stickler for detail, officials told KweséESPN that Rohr played the tape of the Bafana Bafana loss time and time again. And then some. Among the things that reportedly stood out was Simon's part in at least one of the goals, where his failure to track back continually left his fullback isolated and exposed. Team sources told KweséESPN that when the team congregated ahead of the Cameroon game, Rohr called Simon and gave him a stern dressing down, issuing him an ultimatum: track back, or sit on the bench. The threat worked a charm. Not only was the forward involved in two of the goals, he was also back helping Shehu Abdullahi, and later Elderson Echiejile. "It wasn't easy because I like to go forward and express myself," Simon told KweséESPN after. "But I had to do what the coach said." Four days later, he found himself on the scoresheet in Yaounde, after coming in from deep to rifle home from Victor Moses' half-volley. With Alex Iwobi now back in the squad after injury, the competition for places is even stiffer, and Simon will be well aware that if there is any time to knuckle down even further, it is now. Zambia have the potential to present a very difficult test; one full of energy and running, and one which needs every Super Eagles player to be on their best game. Having starred into the abyss and tracked his way back, Moses Simon will surely not be looking to return there. 2 Likes |

Joebie: Awoniyi is now near 21 he should really be cutting it and proving his quality. The chance if him ever playing for Liverpool seems to be a pipe dream now. Firstly, I stated Championship and EPL. I consider Awoniyi a forward player and a hybrid type attacking midfielder. Using his parent club Liverpool fc, I know the club quite well. Currently ahead of him is in the context of Nigerian origin players are Solanke, Seyi Ojo, Bobby Adekanya and Oviemuno Ejaria. That's 4 all in the same club and all Nigerian origin. I could go into the U18's and 16s but that would be overkill. Then let's look at other clubs Chelsea is a strange place for Youth players. Has the best youth set up in England wins everything year in year out. But almost zero teenagers get any playing time. Awoniyi wouldn't make it in Chelsea's U18 team. Currently, Tega, Ike Ugbo look better prospects. Can I add Ademola Lookman from Everton. But let's look at the Championship as well currently Tega on loan from Tottenham is making waves at Aston Villa and Onyedinma at Millwall. I am looking at stand out players not ones just making the numbers. |

Musa’s positive attitude earned him Super Eagles place –Rohr October 5, 2017 Following suggestions of favouritism in Super Eagles line up, Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr has backed his decision to keep inviting Ahmed Musa despite not playing first team football with Leicester City. Rohr, who was charged by the Nigeria Football Federation to secure the country’s 2018 World Cup and 2019 Nations Cup tickets, explained that Musa’s positive attitude is having a great influence on his team. The 67-year old also backed the striker who will turn 25 in few days’ time, saying that he may not be playing in Leicester’s first team but plays regularly, making import contributions, with the club’s second team. “For your information, Ahmed Musa is playing with the second team regularly and he is playing very well. Not in the third team but the second one,” Rohr said. “His attitude is very positive in the team (Super Eagles). His World Cup experience is needed. He is a player who can have a very positive influence on his partners on the field of play. And that is why he is with us and I am happy to have him with us. We have Chidozie who play for Nantes, a first French division team. We need cohesion and continuation of such with the team.” The German gaffer recalled almost all the players invited for the double header clash against Cameroon last month for the crucial tie against Zambia this weekend. Kenneth Omeruo was the only player dropped from that list. But the coach explained: “Kenneth is not eliminated totally but we only hope he can be playing regularly and then have the chance to come back. “It’s better to have the same list we had against Cameroon because of the spirit of unity in that game and we need such in this game too.” The Super Eagles will host the Chipolopolo of Zambia at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium this weekend, an event that could seal their place at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. https://www.ripplesnigeria.com/musas-positive-attitude-earned-super-eagles-place-rohr/ 1 Like |

Juve track Onyekuru By Bowale Odutola on October 4, 2017 Juventus are keeping tabs on Everton starlet, Henry Onyekuru, according to reports in Italy. The 20-year-old was hot property in the summer after scoring 22 goals in Belgium last season and he was linked with Arsenal and West Ham. In the end, the striker left KAS Eupen to join Everton as they agreed to shell out £7 million to bring him to Goodison Park. However Onyekuru may not be at Everton for long as, according to Tuttosport, Juventus are already chasing him. The Nigerian is currently on loan at Anderlecht this season and Juve are monitoring his progress closely. Everton, however, are reported to have no plans to let Onyekuru go so soon after they signed him. |

junnyjake:Truly very fast winger but we have many fast wingers Nigeria can talk of,hope u remember Dimeji Lawal,Pius Ikedia a carbon copy of Tijani, similar style,of recent Ahmed Musa. But till today no winger like Finidi George, very intelligent player who know when to run and how to slow things down, watching Ajax in d 90s was a delight with master Finidi George who knows time to take a cross into 18 yard box,not easy to mark but if u are able to mark him is out of d game completely, still remember how he was removed for Siasia by Westerhoff in d first half against Zambia(94 afcon final) The two were wide apart,as u said Finidi was a class.A lot thought that Finidi was a slow player but No,he moved according to d pace of d game and read d game very well not a direct player like Tijani. I can only compare Finidi and Segun Odegbami,i w find it hard to pick between d duo in my starting XI coz Odegbami was a master class when it comes to wing play,he does it just like CR7,too much of skill, his goal scoring was a top notch, very fast winger with beautiful crosses and powerful player that intimidate any defenders. |

to be fair things have changed a bit at chelsea as regards the youth setup. christensen is in the team this year, musonda too has been involved with the first team. last season chalobah played a role while aina was also on the periphery of the team. conte unlike mourinho has shown faith in the youth players as long as you are good enough. Awoniyi yes he's still a bit behind but truth be told the strikers in liverpool now how many won't he have a fair chance against? sturridge and mane yes are miles ahead of him but who else? solanke i'm yet to see anything outstanding. has he even scored a competitive goal yet? origi who's now at wolfsburg didn't exactly blow peoples minds at lille before he was recalled back to liverpool. i think if awoniyi works hard and keeps his head down i don't think he would be so far from liverpool first team squad like you make it seem i can understand that with your vast knowledge of the english youth football setup which you are deeply involved with you would think alot of these british nigerian boys are ahead of their counterparts in mainland europe but from my own personal opinion the only area where the english game has a huge advantage is the physicality but technically there is still some way to go even though i will admit things have improved in that regard somewhat komekn: 1 Like |

tbaba1234:I remember his debut match against Burkina Faso,it was a match that curator forgot Super Eagles jersey shorts in d hotel,Eagles need to play with cut tracksuit trousers. Finidi was introduced in d 1st half for Austin Eguavoen who could not cope.Introduction of Finito changed d game, his speed and pace in that match was awesome, solely wrecked Burkinabes with Yekini scoring 4 goals, mostly through Finidi assists. |
